To Stardock: Could I have a "beat maso" medal? Please? 'Tis good that maso scores are bumped, but a medal would be nice.
I will put spending at about 10% while it recovers.
When you are below -500, your spending is 0 whatever the slider says. You just can't produce anything until you're back in the greener area above -500. It's always a waste to be below -500, you should never get there unless you desperately need to buy something (like war between your neighbours or maybe a Wonder/TG).
On Tiny you have to keep them ALL happy.
Yes, all at war against one other, and then you can rush whoever declares war on you.
Since, except for terror stars, the stars don't change, why do you need a 3D engine? You could just compute one big image made of the sum of all small ones, and clip it when showing it on the screen. That would be efficient I believe. Now if you want to add zooming in the main screen, that's a different issue. Area of influence for a starbase sounds good. In fact, if the ai realized that culture bombs are built in neighbouring systems, it would make cultural conquest much harder.<br
I really want to get a win playing against MASO.
That's how it begins. Next you'll want to beat it on small, and then on normal, and on gigantic too... It will never end...
Another tactic is to ally yourself with anyone, attack a third civ, then make peace and demand lots of stuff. Your ally will drag you back in war.
Perhaps I will try again when someone posts something like a guide.
I bimped Ellestar's tiny maso walkthrough. It was done at 1.04 time but is still mostly valid in 1.05, just don't stack ships for defense.
Shameless bump. For those who want to wait for a guide to tiny maso. It's been here for a while.
That's actually because you can't change them much. What use does the ai make of an AMM for example? Rather poor. Switch several of the ships to missile types, and you will probably see a dumb display as strong missiles will be wasted on crappy scouts.
If there is a bard with high Charisma, I could relinquish Bluff and Diplomacy to you so that I can specalise further on Rogue skills.
My character starts out as a fighter but will go bard, has high charisma and has some skills in Bluff/Diplomacy/Intimidate. [Message Edited]
to their fullest advantage
It depends a lot. Mods like new buildings will be used, new techs if you give the ai line a value, but if you change some basic ship stats (e.g. colony ship range), the ai will have a very hard time adapting itself. So it's a bit mitigated.
Beware, maso is VERY much harder than crippling. The map size makes for a lot of points difference, but I usually prefer smaller maps as they don't take forever to complete.
I think a score of 30000 is not outstanding, as it is capped. I got a 15k score on a gigantic maso for an alliance win in 1.05. For a military win, you get more points plus you control all the stars so you could expect moe points. Add to that the fact I used rare yellow stars, I think any miitary victory on gigantic abundant maso would yield a very high score. Now, you 'just' have to beat maso and play the gigantic map in less time than Ray to beat him ;). Here's how I played this o
I'm used to building a lot of improvements (except the obvious duds) in all my planets because I just use a single governor.
So do I. One thing that should be remembered about buildings: Never build a +prod building on all your planets if you can't run at 100% spending. You'd have to lower spendings, so it's mostly loss of time/money. Build freighters/constructors instead. Wentropy, if you don't want to abuse tech whoring, just set the ai to incredible.
Depends on the mod. If you want to make the game harder for you: Play maso, mod colony ship range to 0. You'll be in for a really bad game as the ai will expand while you won't. If you want an easy maso win: Mod colony ship range to -9. Use constructors and you'll be able to settle each and every yellow star in the galaxy while the ai will stay in their home sector. So that depends on the mod. Look at each of them. If they provide +PQ improvements, they probably make the
The ai is better than in any other game of the genre and worth playing against. It recognizes some threats (buildups, culture bombings inside their sectors, ...) and may also preemptively attack you if you are weaker than them militarily but start building up a military (arms race). Diplomatically, they are not very good at pitting people against each other, but they don't gang up for no reason either.
I just had an incredible ai Torian kill itself outright for no good reason: I offered peace in order to see if I could extort a planet out of them. I could. In fact they gave me ALL their planets in exchange for peace. Sure, I was stronger than them. Sure, I had HUGE diplomatic skills (all the techs but Final Frontier + diplomatic translators + +20 political party + +60race pick). Sure, I was allied with the Arceans who could crush the whole galaxy if they wanted to considering their mil
Debians probably did something unsaintly like eating meat or something worse like talking to a Drengin. Remember the Altarians eradicated all those who weren't "pure" enough, so you have to take the game's 'goodness' with a grain of salt.
Plus you can get a CD if you download, but you pay for it. Better to burn it yourself if you need one. Apparently, direct sales are sure to get to Stardock, whereas retail is not. But then you might be able to refund if you buy from retail and don't like the game.
An interesting thing is that if you destroy your colony and resettle it, it will still have the skull (i.e. you can't build a colony ship to prevent a planet from flipping - though you can use transports if it does flip, but then it's war).
Nice idea, but since all freighters are not always in the same sector, it's probably more effective to use the +speed starbases to ferry them into the boosted trade sector. Btw, I noticed that in a 1-sector trade route with a trade module, 3 routes between the same planets (Sol-Alexians) didn't give the same revenue every turn. There was always one route giving twice as much cash as the others, but it wasn't always the same route. Any idea why?
And I can't get the Drengins from Warm to Friendly for 10000bc!
Problem is a couple of times is OK, but he seems to have tried more than that.
1) We would do a poll and email eveyr Galciv player a link to the poll. The poll would ask if they would be interestedin a december 2003 expansion pack.
Sounds like a good idea. I suggest you put in the poll: -No thanks -I'll get it anyway because I have Drengin.net -I'll buy it -I'll buy Drengin.net if there's an XPaxk (what I'd do) -I'd rather buy Bananas (look at polls on Apolyton if you don't get that one). 8pm makes it too late for most Europeans to participate :(. Not, I guess, many of us bought the game seeing how it was not distributed around here. Please do a transcript of the chat afterwards! It will be hard to say at the time if we'd like a second XPack since most of us won't have had time to play with the first. I wonder about the proportion of unpaid royalties you have, since it looks like a big concern and what Brad thinks the chances are of someone building a game like h
