Hehe, the "Masters" added to the name makes it it sound like a futuristic golf game. "And today at Augusta National Golf Club, the final 18 holes of the 2040 Masters Tournament are upon us. The player from Antares is currently at the top of the leader board, but the seasoned Tiger Woods is closing in on him. Now we will see who the 'Masters of Orion' really are. :D

*Points at the superlaser picture on Forceinfinity's link* I always felt sorry for those 2 troops stationed right next to where the Death Star's giant (and probably radiation filled) laser passes by. How badly do you screw up to get a crappy assignment like that? LOL I wonder if the Terror Stars have a post like that? Maybe I can put that annoying "out of range/only survey vessels can investigate" advisor there. :D
Yes, well said Bobo. *Throws Bobo a banana.*
Well the Master Race tech is one of the "evil" alignment techs. It's not like they are passing it off as something any civilization should research. It's just something a civ might do if it were, well, evil. ;)
You can use the mouse wheel (if you have one) to move the numbers up and down. It's a lot easier then clicking the arrows.
That happened to me too in my last game, using the Universalists. I was able to stop the CTD by going to the previous autosave and turning the autosave feature completely off in the options screen. I had it set to save everyturn when it happened. Hope that helps.
Wow, looks like Pontius knows his genetic theory. :) On your score it is showing that you used the origional version of the game, which might be why it's not showing your saintly morality. They are up to version 3 now if you want to download it through the Stardock program. You can also download the bonus pack while you are at it and get some nifty new features and game techs. :)
They are probably just trying to suck up, so I think it fits pretty well. Of course now you have to prove them right: Take their money...and then prove your "benevolence" by freeing them of the burden of running an empire. (i.e. conquer them and make them your slaves.) That's what any self respecting demonic ruler would do. ;)
Oh, and I almost forgot, here is another tree by the same guy that shows all the projects that go along with the techs. That can be usefull for planning out your stratagy. http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/fulltechtree.htm
Do you have automatic image resizing turned on in your internet browser? That could be why the tech tree looks too small for you. Also, since that tech tree is an image, you can save it to your desktop and zoom in on it there. That's where I have it, so I can make easy reference to it during a game. :)
If it makes you feel better, I've seen people throw the same untrue accusations at other games that release updates too. I've been following the new Star Wars Galaxies online game (which isn't even out of beta yet), and every time they announce a feature that will be added post-release a vocal minority practically accuses them of being evil incarnate. ;) Even though the new features would add alot to the game. I, and I think a lot of other people, have been really impressed w
How about a new tech that allows the player and AI to make privateers around the same time trade is researched? A privateer was basically a pirate who legally worked for a nation, to disrupt the trade of that nation's rivals. Often times they were used during times of war, but that wasn't always the case. So, it could be another way to disrupt the AI's economy (and vice versa) without necesarily causing a war from the attack. Although it should cause the relationship between those tw
And I hear that the Mauve Ring is an artifact from the time of the PreCursors. It's a little known fact that the PreCursors greatly admired the art of interior decorating, and was the secret to their intergalactic success.
Well, it won't keep it from happening, but I always make sure to save my game before doing that. It only takes a few seconds and can potentially save you from repeating a lot of game actions. :) Or you could set the autosave to go off every turn, so you don't have to worry about saving it manually. Although the autosave has caused my game to crash now and then.
Yep, you can add any modules to it you want, including defense. A stratagy a lot of people use is to build a ton of influence modules on their terror stars, and "culture bomb" enemy worlds into rebeling. I'm afraid it's stuck at a speed of 1 though. It would be really unbalancing to the game to have them zipping all around. ;)
The levels seem to add a small amount to the attack and defence numbers as they go up. The levels will increase as the ship or station survive battles. I once had a station reach level 7 in a game, and on it's info screen it had the description "God-like" after the lvl number. LOL
LOL If your finger slips, then that bug better start praying. ;) LOL
I'll get in touch with my inner nerd and defend the movie making team. :D : From reading the tech descriptions in the game, it seems like the hyper-drive the ships use works on the idea of "folding" space. Like how the ships travel in Frank Herbert's Dune series. Folding space doesn't require moving at light speed (or even moving at all in the traditional sense) because the goal is to stretch, or "fold", the fabic of space until the area of space your ship is occupying gets
I just ran into a strange bug with version 1.03.054, on a giant map. I had built a space station on a Influence resource (one of 2 near each other) and had lucked out by having a total of 5 resources nearby to mine. But after a while, and a loading the game back up after a break, one of the Influence resources just completely disappered from under the station. I'm not sure if it happened after I had restarted the saved game, or after getting the 5th resource (that's when I noticed it). <b
Out of 4 games, I've only gotten one Precursor Ranger and a couple corvettes, but the AI seems to have great luck digging them up. In my current game I sent an Excalibur in to attack the Yor, and I came across a stack of 100 Precursor Corvettes! :( My Excalibur didn't take any damage when they attacked, but it took a good 5 minutes for them to finish hurling themselves against me. LOL
I second MadCow711's suggestion for more types of space stations. It would add more depth, and even more fun :D , to have a variety of them to build. And also, I'd love to see some new modules for the stations as well. Maybe a series of modules which give a small research bonus.
yep, just have the colony ship land on one of your populated systems the same way you would to make a new colony. The ship will end up on your pointer on the side of the screen, and you can pick which planet you want the people on.
hehe, well when I voted for it the first time I thought it was a good thing. Since they mention a money bonus, and only a "small" risk of danger. LOL I did the same thing with the prison planet event. I thought "hey free production bonuses for 2 years, woohoo!". And then, 2 turns later, the prison riot occured and spawned 3 battle cruisers in the middle of my empire (which had just gotten to corvettes). Live and learn I guess. :D
I had three of them appear after an event tied to the "space monster zoo" that sometimes comes up in the United Planets. I had won the right to have the zoo on one of my planets. And after several turns I got a message saying there had been a power blackout at the zoo (ala Jurrasic Park LOL ), and that some space sharks had escaped. And boy were they tuff, I never did kill any of them since the game was nearly over any way.
Hehe, I just came across the Sanderians (lost Democratic party civ) in my game I'm playing right now. It was a lot funnier after having read through this topic earlier. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that they are friends with the Fundamentalist minor civ in my game? They are the ones who "believe they have the answer to all the universe's problems." LOL
