Isn't Stardock in Michigan? Please don't upset Brad anymore. He is our gamer company's hero.

I have manually asked the program to archive different versions of DA. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it just does the newest version. It would be nice if all the versions were available somewhere. There I go again, complaining, complaining, complaining.
Hey, Frogboy, you guys have set the standard for being responsibe to the users. It is because you have set the standard so high that we get on your case so quick if something goes wrong. Again your response assures us that your company is going to get things right. We are like the fans who boos the .350 hitter when he gets into a slump. But despite temporary problems, he is still the MVP. We whine so much so that we are sure that we have your attention. N
Maybe we can save some damn memory by getting rid of the smaller habitable and non-habitable planets. I never use them anyway. Rarely do I planets smaller than 10 unless I need to extend my range. The AI uses a lot of them--to its disadvantage. It needs to be looking for better planets. If you are doing a military victory, it is production (with an economy to support it) that wins games. I see the AIs taking over puny planets that can little production or economic value.
I wonder if you started a game in 1.61 and then loaded it into 1.80a that you would have high inhabitable planet count and aggressive AI. I don't know whether the AI gets saved in a saved game. Tacky, isn't it?
Do you have to add something to the command line to get the cheat mode (like Ctrl-U) to work?
I started up a new 1.8a game and did 10 CTRL+Ns. I ended up with the following number of systems under my Medium/everything Abundant galaxy: 41, 32, 34, 52, 43, 36, 37, 44, 47, 30. That gives me an average of 39 systems with a maximum of 52, minimum of 30, and standard deviation of 7. A Medium galaxy is 5x5, so that works out to a system/square (quadrant?) of about 1.5 (3:2). I've got to figure out how the cheats work so I can reveal the whole map and do some counts of planets. But, stell
I updated the change log at the top.
How close to what it was before? I started a few 1.80a games and while I didn't play very long, it seemed that the number of habitable planets has still dropped considerably from 1.60 and maybe some of the betas of 1.7. Could you give us some percentages? Thx.
What is the newest 1.80a about? Change in habitable planets? Can you share some specifics?
Is there a problem with the number of habitable planets under 1.8? There are a number of bug reports claiming that new games started under 1.8 had very few habitable planets. The number of habitable planets was reduced in an effort to reduce the memory usage. We are going to raise it in another update shortly, but not to the previous levels.
Does the reduction depend o
As far as rolling back, 1.7b4 had broken A.I., so if youre able to rollback, you'll want to go farther than that.
What was the last version with a decent A.I.?
I hate auto-upgrading--particularly with factories that may bankrupt me. This is my biggest gripe about the game--which I like anyway. I realize that you can turn this off per planet in DA (though I don't remember how). I think when you get a new tech from conquering a planet, you should be asked whether you want to upgrade at all (for all planets). If I want to upgrade planets later, fine. There are times when I have to go through all the planets and delete factor
I saw no plague, etc. but in one game using the latest beta, I upgraded my logistics beyond basic, and I was unable to combine 2 ships into a fleet. I saved and reloaded and then it worked. I had another game under the latest beta where the game slowed down very quickly. Saved the game. Rebooted. The save game and two autosave game crashed while loading. I had to go back to an earlier saved game (lost about an hour of playing time) and that loaded. I was able then to
I would say I have two big issues: 1. I would like to be able to accept or reject (or perhaps put on hold) any tech advance I get from capturing a planet. Sometimes the tech advance is an economy buster and I hate deleting super advanced factories if I don't need them or can't afford them. 2. I would like the unowned planet list to show the category of planet it is (under DA--toxic, radioactive, aquatic, barren, high gravity, or anybody). Or perhaps to sort the list by
I played an entire game on the first 1.7 beta without any significant problems. Last night on the new beta, about half way through the game on a huge galaxy, tough, 2 AIs, the game slowed way down in a hurry. I saved the game and rebooted. This took a long time even after I had quit the game (this part happens a lot). After rebooting, I tried to load the last saved game. It crashed. I tried two auto-saves and they crashed. A save I had done an hour earlier di
What happens when you lose control of the Senate?
Also, anyone notice that survey ships go to find anomalies that you CANNOT see? I've noticed that there are some anomalies I can't see at all on the main screen--but I do see on the mini-map if you zoom in enough. I then take my survey ship and either scroll around the main map til the text for the anomaly appears or right clip on the mini-map and have the survey ship go there. Perhaps the anomalies on the main map might be visible if I zoomed
I've played a full game of the beta. No crashes. Me and 2 AIs on a huge map. I once had a glitch where a ship would move only one square and then it would shift to another ship. Restarting the game and reloading where I left off fixed that.
Where is the event log in 1.7?
Hmm...My last post didn't seem to take. When I tried to archive DA 1.61, I got DA 1.50.127 which is the same number as the last DL I archived--1.50.127. I got this through "Archive Application--Selected Module." So this didn't seem to work. Tonight I download the new beta. I archived 1.70[b].003 with Arch Application--Download and Archive" and this time I got the right archive. 1.70[b].003. Archiving the "Selected Module" didn't work but archiving wi
New beta 1.7 is out. I would like to try it and archive it. You can right click to archive it. But after it is done, if you want to look at the archived games, it says 1.5. I have tried this several times with the same results. You get 1.5 (or so it says) rather than 1.61. I want to archive 1.61. BTW I would like to Stardock to allow all of us who have purchased the games to have access to all versions of the game.
After you build some factories (and that is what ultimately wins the game--production), you have to concentrate on the economy while you are doing the colony rush. This means you still need research buildings so that you can get quickly from trade centers to stock exchanges. Improve your morale buildings. Improve your govt to ultimately to star federation. Early in the game research the survey function and go out looking for anomalies with money. I usually have 4 out looking for stu
I am in a game in which the two AI outvoted me to have a "neutral ground pact." It said it was permanent and would prevent enemy warships from entering the territory of others. The only victory condition is a military victory. Does this nerf the entire game? Or, are there ways around it? Or maybe I don't understand it? I hope I don't restart the game.
Big games have always slowed down near the end. But in my current game it got terrible. Even with a new reboot, the game would load (take forever) and getting the colony button to work would take forever. After I would quit the game, my computer would move like molasses. I didn't know whether it was computer or the game. I finally deleted DA and reinstalled it. The last two days have been good but I don't whether it will stay that way. I play on huge ga
