I've noticed that the new minor civ event appears to be biased against the human player. The new minor civ gets to start with every tech that the human player gets. I read somewhere else that the new minor civ is supposed to get every tech already discovered, plus one bonus tech. If the humans aren't the tech leader, then the new minor civ isn't getting all the techs it deserves. The humans should be able to exploit the new minor to catch up on tech, and the AIs should also exploit the new m

Suppose you have a social project that requires 2 months to complete. If you rush-buy it, you can then devote that turns' production to a new social project. However, you can't do this trick if the social project will be completed the next turn. So if only a few BC of credits finish the project, you are forced to waste an entire turn of production. Here's the solution I cam across: Set your social spending slider to zero!! Now you can rush-buy the social project. Then, restore you

To get the most out of +trade routes, you have to build horizontal or vertical trade routes. You also get the most benefit on tiny. Ideally, you want to start in a corner, so you can get maximum-length trade routes. It seems that getting a route that's 1 sector longer is more important than choosing the best trading partner. You have to get horizontal or vertical trade routes so that your trade starbases are effective in both directions. For other non-orthogonal routes, the mini-fre

The cap is 3xPQ for "free" production and 10xPQ for "paid" production. It is not a hard cap, and you can go over it somewhat. The source of the bonus does not matter: whether it's from a starbase, social project, or racial ability. To figure out if you're near the cap, just add together the social and military production. The number to the left of the '+' sign is the "paid" production; the number to the right is the "free" production. Research does not appear to be capped.

I like +trade routes on tiny. + 3 trade routes Mercantile party build trade starbases (if you can stay out of war) Be careful! Whoever you decide to trade with will get very powerful. I'm wondering if the research party is better than the mercantile party, though. I need someplace to spend all that extra money, and the research boost means that I can keep a tech lead, and rush to "trade" faster.

Is Earth PQ 19 or 20? There's a cap of 4xPQ to income. It sounds like you hit against the cap. This is one of the bad side-effects of the taxes cap - sometimes a social project provides no benefit. I always thought that certain social projects, wonders, and resources should increase the taxes cap.

I find that I try to get 30%-70% of "normal" production in before a lease. The reason is that if an AI beats me to a wonder I just started, I haven't wasted much. If the AI beats me by 1 turn, I lose many turns of production. I find that I'm mostly buying outright, but that's because I do lots of tech trading for extra cash. Also, when I acquire a planet late in the game, I will outright buy Soil Enhancement, Habitat Improvement, and Entertainment Network.

Minors get a very high cultural resistance rating. I think the I-League gets the highest rating, plus they tend to get more planets so they have a higher base influence. It is possible to flip any minor, but sometimes several party palaces may be needed.

Do enemy races ever retaliate for voting against them in a UP session? For example suppose the "tax Drengin 3%" resolution comes up, because the Drengin are leading. Will the Drengin get pissed off at you for voting for that resolution?

Frogboy says: >You start out with score X which is based on the difficulty level that is based on adding the intelligence levels of the major races. Just like taxes in excess of 4x PQ are "capped", large deviations from the base difficulty score should be "capped". I'm referring to deviations above and below. Exactly where the caps should be set will require some experimentation. I don't think the spread should be more than 2x-4x for a given map size and difficulty combinati

Now about different medals for each map size? Now that there are different ways to sort the metaverse, there may as well be a medal for each sorting. - best/top25 tiny player - best/top25 gigantic player - best/top25 evil player - best single game score (current version) The nice thing about multiple medal categories, is that most people probably could get at least one.

How about a 1-sector challenge? (cannot colonize or invade a planet outside of your starting sector) What's the largest map size that makes this possible? Would it be feasible on intelligent/gigantic? How about normal/gigantic?
