The game is stuck on the Xeloxi's turn. The screen snapshot below shows that the game is consuming about 30% of CPU so it is doing something, but the Xeloxi apparently cannot complete their turn. I think the problem is caused by creating a Military starbase as part of completing my turn AFTER CLICKING ON THE NEXT TURN BUTTON (I think this is another example of why there needs to be a change to the automatic next turn "feature"). I have uploaded a save to DropBox that I thi

I was playing a game when suddenly, my screen went black. Hitting the ESC key did not bring-up a menu so I could not save the game or exit gracefully. The screen snapshot below shows Task Manager in the foreground and GalCiv4 (black) in the background. Task Manager shows that GalCiv4 is using about 20% of CPU so it is running and doing something. The only thing I could do is kill the GalCiv4 process. When I reloaded the last Auto Save it did not happen again.

My favorite feature is the ability to customize so many things: the size of the universe the type of resources and how many of each resource the number of AIs and which ones will be in each game my civilization the strategy I want to pursue The features I wish for are: FIX THE BUGS!!! hard crashes and freeze-ups are extremely frustrating I and others have posted on this forum many bugs s
This is all very valuable feedback, to help us better understand the situation and replicate it, would you be kind enough to provide a save file via dropbox link for our team? I'll be sure the situation is reported.
Since the only thing I could do was click around the Research Center screen, I was not able to save the game. As I said in my post, when I restarted the game and loaded the previous Auto-Save, the

I am playing version 1.12.369210 and I have encountered a serious issue that I believe has been reported for previous versions and that apparently has not been viewed as being serious enough to assign devs to fix. When I went to a new turn, I could see all of the AI's take their turns and then I was shown the Research Center screen since research on the previous tech had completed. I was able to select a new tech, but I was not able to close the screen. I could go to the T
I've been wondering about this for a bit now, and I'll be discussing this with the team, but I think Syrris is right where its more a contextual thing and "Lowered" would be better wording
I think you need to start with how the "price" of an available leader is set in the first place. Clearly, it cannot be just based on the sum of the attributes since the second and fourth leaders both had attributes totalling

I was looking at recruiting a new leader and I was looking at each of their special features when I came across the one in the screen snapshot below. The thing to notice is that the popup says "Lower Recruit cost", but when you look at the cost of all of the available leaders, that one is the most expensive! I am submitting this as another one of those head-scratchers where what a message says is completely at odds with reality. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/6

The message shown in the first screen snapshot below tells me that my governor has done a poor job with crime but, as shown in the second screen snapshot below, crime on the planet is 0. You really need to make sure that the message that appears matches reality. Players will notice and start to think that the messages are totally random (are they?) and not related to what is really going on on the planet. For example, with this planet, a message about pollution would have be

One of the techniques that I use when attacking a core world is to send a fleet that contains one or more transports to a cell that is between the core world and the shipyard associated with that core world (see the screen snapshot below). Once I am positioned there, I select the transport(s) and attack the core world (assuming I have destroyed any defending ships prior to this point). I then take the remaining ships in the fleet (which should already be automatically selected) an

I am once again doing battle with the Mimot Brotherhood and I have encountered a strange issue related to logistics. Actually, it is 2 issues that can be seen in the screen snapshot below: In the upper-right hand corner, in red, it shows that the combined logistics of the ships in the Mimot fleet is 56, but they have a limit of 40. How can this be? In the popup for the fleet it says that the maximum logistics is 29 while the red text discussed in ite

I have been experimenting with how to defeat the Mimot Brotherhood in 1 on 1 games and I have seen the below message a couple of times. If I had declared war this message would make sense, but neither I nor the Mimot have declared war yet. We are at peace and have been since the beginning of the game. Please put this in the pile of messages players see from other civilizations that are not in sync with what is actually going on in the game. <img src="https://cdn.star

I was able to create a save that you should be able to use to recreate the freeze issue. The save is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s42lhr106k7d7u7/Freeze%20Bug%20Demo%20Under%201.11.366105.GC4Sav?dl=0 The steps to recreate the freeze after you have loaded the save are: Center the screen over the subspace gate as shown in the screen snapshot below

I finished the game where I got stuck (yes, I defeated those loveable but disgustingly powerful Mimots!) and started another game with the exact same options and I am now stuck again with the exact same sequence of events. This time I ran the Sysinternals program named "Process Explorer", found GalCiv4.exe and listed the threads running under it. There were 2 threads that were consuming CPU. I then looked at the stack for each of those 2 threads and what I saw is shown in th

I am playing as a custom civilization against the Mimot in a 2 sector universe where they are in 1 sector and I am in the other. The game is stuck during the Mimot's turn and I am hoping that the screen snapshots below will help you figure-out why it is getting stuck. During the Mimot's turn, they attacked one of my fleets with a 2-ship fleet from the starport. Normally, I would see both of their ships explode but, as you can see, only one of them exploded and the other one

The Colonial Supplies executive order has always been confusing to me so I have never used it (until now!). The first screen snapshot below shows what the Colonial Supplies executive order says and it shows a colony that currently has a Decay value of -37%. After spending 30 control on this executive order, the second screen snapshot shows that the decay for the colony was reduced by 50% to -18%. I suggest changing the text of the executive order to say "Making a large shi

The Loireag command ship says "Can Spawn a clone of itself" (note that the first letter of "Spawn" should not be capitalized) as shown in the first screen snapshot below. However, when you use this ability, the clone is really not a clone of the Loireag as shown in the second screen snapshot below. Although the clone does have the same attack and defense types, the same moves, and it does inherit the Loireag name, the attack strength is different, the defense strength is different

Old-Spider, Thank you for verifying the bug. You may also want to check the military starbase upgrades for the other 2 weapon types as well. Hopefully, fixing the bug for missiles will also fix the other 2 weapon types, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

I was building a Military Starbase and was looking at the description of the Harpoon Salvo improvement. It refers to an "ability to attack enemies up to 3 tiles away", but after adding this improvement to my starbase, I cannot figure-out how to use that ability. Is this another example of the text not matching reality or is there some way to actually use this ability that I am too dumb to figure-out? <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/64/79/6479257/aaca1c15-8e6a-4f8e

I just received the following offer from the Corporate Sector for 39,451 credits if I declare war on the Krynn Syndicate. Given that the Corporate Sector are supposed to value money and 39,451 credits is a lot of money it seems that this offer is out of character for the Corporate Sector. It looks like I am going to war against the Krynn Syndicate!

I just put together a new large ship and noticed something that I do not understand. In the screen snapshot below you can see that the description for my ship says "Legions Carried 1", but as you can see from the list of components, I did not add a Transport module to my ship. What does the "Legions Carried 1" mean?

This may have been hard to test because of how far you have to get into a game before you can build a Technological Capital and then try to Aid Research. This is also why many of us are on these forums - we enjoy playing the game and reporting bugs so that you can make the game even better.

5 Replies 7,365 Views

I progressed in my game to the point where I researched the ability to "Aid Research". However, as you can see below, it says that it can only be used on a planet with a Technological Capital, but I have used it on this planet which does not have a Technological Capital. You either need to enforce the Technological Capital requirement or change the text. &nbsp
