There are 2 versions of space monsters in 1.09. The Aonomaly Beast, and then the Space Sharks. The anomaly beast, though not as strong as their cousins, they are still a nusiance in the early game, especially trying to keep your scouts, freighters, Survey ships (they love those the most), and SB's defended.

Hmmm, I need to check this thread more often... Concerning my strategy. After I find someone that can beta test the saved game (1.09 Beta 3) that goes along with it, then after I make some revisions, I'll publish it on the board.

I am hardcore evil. I do agree that the short term benefits are worth it. Even more so on smaller maps (which is what I mostly play). Good supposedly helps out your diplomacy, but that's nothing that a few AMM's and some Death Knights can't take care of ;) .
