Redshift's Opening Strategy: I agree with Bog Nug about 50% tech not being the best route. More important than your tech bonus is the raw amount of research your economy can handle. That means more/better planets and resources. The key is getting a good start. You need to know your surroundings. I start my initial colony ship heading to the nearest sector with 4+ planets, and my survey ship in a different direction. The first colony ship only has 100 people on it, so it is

Follow up to previous message: I loaded up the same game again and re-submitted my score, and this time it seems to have worked. Don't know what failed the first time. (Damned intermittent bugs - those are the hardest kind of bugs to try to find and fix) Thanks again, Redshift

Vorlin, I started the game on 1.03, I finished my previous game on 1.02 before I upgraded. It was huge galaxy, tight clusters, challenging. As for milking, I turned off culture victory but went for culture anyway (after taking out the drengin with good, old fashioned violence) and so won by conquest when the last planet defected to me. I guess that's fairly milkesh, but I don't see why it isn't legal. In the game it said my score being submitted was near 6000. I used m

Note: I also posted this on the 1.03 bug thread, but I'm not sure which ones you guys keep up with. I just submitted a game to the metaverse and got a 0 score (that's not what it said in the game) and the difficulty on my history says "Anomalous." Specific info: I finished the game and tried to submit by my cable modem was down, so I rebooted the modem, loaded up the autosave and clicked turn a few more times (I won by culture conquest). I don't know if that has anything to do

I'd like to see a heavier constructer. Late game on a big map I just have too many of the little ones to manage. Some of my planets can crank out a constructer every 2-3 turns. I usually have to assign orders to 5+ constructers every turn. I'd like to see one that costs 5 times as much and has 4 modules and a bit more defense (maybe a little more speed as well). Auto explore would be nice, rally points would help with some of the micromanagement. I agree with other posters that hav

1> I had a terror star go invisible as soon as it was completed. I could still see the little icon in the lower right if another ship was on top of it, but I couldn't select it from the main map even if I clicked on the seemingly empty area where it was. Once I selected it through the ship list or lower right I was able to give it orders. It did not reappear later in the game. 2> The Arceans chased one of my freighters that they couldn't kill (because of UP) with about 8 battleships

Normally I like to have ships auto-launch (auto-launching to a waypoint would be nice) but with troop ships and colony ships I don't get to specify how many people to put on if I autolaunch. It would be great if I could be prompted for loading soldiers during autolaunch, or set it so that all ships except transports and colonies autolaunch. Thanks, Redshift
