Marcathonas: Us "Fanboys" acknowledge the game isn't perfect. I regret having put that sentence in my original post. It served no purpose but to provoke. I didn't think it though, just typed on the fly, and I apologize. The feeling behind it was the frustration I get when I see peo

Magnumaniac: Well, it's pretty easy and quick to do from the F2 planet list - I can't think of any easier way to implement it, how are you suggesting it is done? Shift click a bunch of planets from the manager screen and update them all at once. @Oldstatesman: Thanks for the tip. I
You can always hit the tab key or use the Find button..... Not if it has automove left. Tab won't find it. And if there is a way to execute the automoves without clicking "Turn" please please please tell me. And i'm not saying it's bad, just that it isn't 9/10 good. <TABLE ce
I know these threads are supposed to be fanboy only affairs, but In all fairness, I'd say they got the UI comments right. And to be honest, I think 5/5 or 90%+ ratings are extremely generous. I'd give the game about 80%, with a potential of about 95% if they work out some issues (UI and AI). On one hand, the game rocks. It has depth, replay value, and varied paths to success. It offers nearly everything I hope for in a TBS game. I love the game. I've lost a great
I haven't gone to beta, but am up to Suicidal on 1.1x and the AI is still really bad at a whole lot of things. I hope the next patch improves things, because right now the AI isn't challenging. Tactical Combat and Planet Improving are 2 areas that need serious work in the latest non-beta.
Thanks all, I'll try clicking on a planet or Ctr-click. The auto-move is also annoying, and I think there should be some way to execute the automoves without clicking the Turn button.
I'm running into an issue that is frustrating me, and I'm hoping someone has a simple solution. I'm in the middle of invading an AI empire, and I've got a big stack of transport ships. They are much faster than my warships. As a result, every turn I move my fleets of warships, and then I highlight all my transports and move them into the same square as the warships. The transports still have movement. Next I'll select another sh
The more powerful computers crash more with this game, because they heat up so much... Ah. I was wondering about that. I have a 3 year old processor with a 1.5 year old mid-range (at the time) graphics card and I've had no problems despite playing the game A LOT.
Sorry, double post.
Let me start by saying that I appreciate the dialog and think that your company makes some very interesting games. Unfortunately, I think the fuzzy math criticisms are well founded in this case. Not understanding the game mechanics cripples a turn based strategy game, especially at the higher difficulty levels. It seems to me that having arbitrary 10% steps to "To keep the game from being too complex to the casual user," is making the game more complex. 10% seems to mean nothing
Hmm... I liked SC and WC2 a lot. I liked AoE, AoE2 and AoM also. TA was also good. I HATED the C&C series (except for the original, can't see buying another Westwood game) and didn't care for WC3 (I'd still buy from blizzard). I don't think I'd really have a problem with limitless resources (I didn't in TA) and based on these postings I'll give it a try. Are there Uberweapons in Rise of Nations that cannot be defended against? That really bothers me about the C&
I have a P3-667 that works great on everything but late game gigantics. I do have a good graphics card and 704M ram. Anyway, despite what the stated intention was in the copy of Frogboy's repost above, I think population still has a fairly strong bearing on score.
Wow, Go on vacation for a week and a whole lot can happen. I'm still active, just was away from computing resources for 8 days. Sorry I didn't get my vote in by the deadline. I did have ambitions to work on some of the projects to improve the game when I joined, but I've found that I just don't have the time. Between my work and social life I only have so much time to spend on galciv and I mostly use it to play and participate in the forums. At this point my main interes
No, whoops. I thought the games were supposed to score more... hmmm....
I also just tried to submit on 1.05.069. I only tried twice, but I've never had submission problems before today.
I don't think i've ever been more excited for a minor patch in my life.
Ethermage, That sounds like a very solid basis for a fair system.
I started my game in 1.05 but it still crashes.
There's a lot of us getting that, I posted the debug.err contents in the bug report thread.
I'm not able to use govenors due to a CTD problem on 1.05, so it may be a while before I can finish a 1.05 game.

Add me to the govenor crash list. 1.05.068. I see the following errors in my debug.err Debug Message: Scanning Models. Debug Message: Sorting save game list by time. I am experiencing the same thing. Repeatable CTD any time I try to add a item to governor list. Makes game pretty much unplayable. Started in 1.05.
I think your system sounds very good, but I would like to see some sort of bonus for speed (that would obviously counteract the fact that fast wins will not get most techs/TGs/wonders, so it could balance). I don't play fast so the scoring system you outline favors me (and other who play that way) but I think winning fast is a skill also that should be acknowledged. I'm glad that you didn't make speed the only thing that matters, and agree with you that that approach would reward onl
Actually I think type of victory should be lower than on my previous post.
