Re Blizzard, I dunno about their financial straits but Diablo2 alone sold well over 1 million copies. And there are still alot of people who play, and they are still releasing patches for it. So you would think it would make some money or at least let them break even. Blizzard is doing alot of other things such as Worlds of Warcraft and other MMORPGs, maybe they will make enough money off that to release Diablo 3. That would be way cool.

I think the stargate mod could work with some stretching. Obviously we'll have to assume the other guys gave the Terrans a tech boost to allow colonizer ships. Its mostly a matter of renaming things such as planets, ships, races, etc, and making up new ship graphics. For the AI, i wuold think: Drengins: Goauld (very evil) Yor: Replicators (also quite evil, but not as bad as Goauld) Arceans: Asguard (somewhat of a lose fit, the Asguard are quite good) Torians: Nox (neu

Sorry Staffa - when you posted your strategies you stated that you only play good (at mascho level) because it's impossible to win at Mascho as evil. I guess you've found a way. So i just assumed you were a 'good' guy. My humble apologies :) Gerakken: Amazing, we are no longer quite evil enough. Had to happen. In the beginning i was quite good myself. :) [Message Edited]

Ozar yes that's right. Not like moo2. I tend to go for the Drengins and Arceans first, they are the biggest threat in the early game. Alterians are a threat in late game (IMO). Yor and Torians are just not threats in my games. I like to buddy-buddy with the Torians because they will actually ally with me, with my alignment pure evil. Alterians are good trade partners but will never ally with me. (Maybe they would, it would be very difficult i think). Once you get to dreadnaughts, drengin

What about our GROSS empire? We're pretty evil. At least we were. With the exception of Staffa, i mean. GROSS was founded on the ideal of getting rid of the slimy aliens, which makes the empire quite evil IMO. I guess people can play however they want, that's what's great about democracy. But for me, evil is the way to go.

Yeah i agree. The clicking techs one by one sucks. Actually i like this game and all, and i realize the expansion is free, but from the description it sounds pretty empty; the only significant change is the rally points. I wuoldn't mind paying like $20 and getting some cool features, such as: - cloaking ships - Better ground combat model (like MOO2) - Planetary bombardment - nuclear weapons - ability to create a star as well as destroy it (ala SE3/SE4) Just a

Uhmm one thing, typically pre ver 1.05 scores are quite low, so they actually drag down your total score quite a bit. You may be better off just showing your 'new' scores, your overall score will be alot higher. Those of us who have played since version 1.0 are pretty much sunk, there is little we can do to actually boost our score, and the scores decay all the time....soo...my $0.02

Anyone know of a cheap MMORPG? I mean STG is $15/month, EQ is now $12-$13/month. I can't really afford more that 5-10/month, and maybe 20-30 for the box. I wonder how many people will still continue to fork over that gob of cash to STG, for me as someone who works for a living thats a serious amount of investment. I'd like to try a MMORPG now that I have DSL but my time is fairly limited and my cash moreso. Any ideas?

The one at Orion Sector is a bit more current than the other one posted above. (FYI). It has the comments made in this forum and some updates to the trade section. We'll work on another version after the expansion pack is released. Comments are as always quite welcome. Feel free to email the authors or post here. Rob

AFAIK the build starbases along the trade route thing is fine. I think the diminishing returnes only applies to planet production. Anyway the flipside of huge planet production is you actually have to pay for it, well 66% of it. So it makes alot of sense to find a sector with say 4 nice planets in it, jack up the production to saturation values, and that's it.

Resistance is futile, you will all be assimulated. Let those who defy the benevolent GROSS empire suffer our wrath. BTW BCs are good for early wars, they are cheaper than BHs and well, they're cheaper. It's like the low-budget BH.

Just my $0.02. Amazing, a physician who actually gets out into the 'real' world. I'm a PhD 'scientist' myself. 1) Returning to the Diplomatic screen almost every turn in order to trade/sell technology is nearly imperative. This is very tiresome. I agree, although I do this only every 5-10 turns and only until I am the dominate power. Then there isn't much point. 2) One must completely examine the entire region available to your sensors in order to be sure a stray

Does anyone know if the AI will build terror stars? Also don't forget the mobile resource feature. Make a terror star from a SB oribiting a resource, and move it, the resource comes with it. Useful for getting those military resources into your sphere of influence.
