Hey GROSSers. Finally got to try ver 1.05. First try: painful. Got my butt kicked real hard; Arceans were zipping aroung in 8 speed battleships while i had BCs. Second: Tough, using +2 speed pick. It kicks butt! I completely dominated the galaxy. But metaverse submission doesn't work now :( Oh well. Anyway progress on the Galactic Guide is coming along; that's how i spend my GalCiv time mostly nowadays. See the thread. http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=69176#

You can get lower PQ planets initially then terraform them to PQ15 or more. Personally i don't they are worth it as far as expense/profit goes. If it's a strategic location, that is different.

Guys, This is what i have on the section 'dealing with the aliens' so far. I haven't gotten much reply to the question of specific AI behaviors, so that section will probably be very minimal. Anyway please take a look and comment. Topic 4 – Dealing with the Aliens 4.1 Introduction What makes GalCiv so fun is that each different alien (a.k.a. “race” or “AI”) has a different algorithm for artificial intelligence. In short, each AI has a different personality

Maybe the lure of the expansion pack will lure people like staffa back in. Normally games have a lifetime of their own, some weeks, others months or years (take diablo2 for instance). So, i'm not surprised if someone who played day in and out for several months (and put up with *all* the updates) finally decided to hang it up...seems like they played the game to death. Anyway I still find there is alot of life in the game for me, esp since i only do a game a week. Bye Staffa, we'll

Did anyone realize there is a new manual out? I agree, the first one REALLY REALLY sucks. The second one is a bit better. A group of us are working on a strategy guide. Now if we can only get some nice people to state what needs clarification instead of these rants and demands.... The link is here. http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=69176#72156

Thanks for the info. I agree with these comments. I'll add: Drengins: Most militaristic, pumps most of their economy into building ships. Arceans: Huge production bonuses (I think?) Most likely to demand tribute/go to war: Drengins Arceans Yor Alterians Torians Best for establishing trade routes: Torians Alterians Yor Arceans Drengins

Hi all, A group of us are working on a compendium of all things strategic regarding GalCiv. I am working on a section entitled "Race AI" and realize I know very little about the differences and behaviors of the AI. Specifically i'd like some info from all of you on: 1) Differences in starting bonuses to each of the AIs, is this hard coded or dependant on the game? Ie i think the Drengins pick War Party and get that 50% starship bonus. 2) Different behaviors of t

50% sounds fine. Me thinks some people obsess too much about scoring. Me also wish devs quit nerfing the scoring. Me also wish for a million dollars but that's not going to happen :) Peace and love everyone :)

Desert Fox, sounds good. Should we move our discussion to your site? I find it painful to dig through the forum topics to this one. Keith, could you edit my good/evil post and repost it or put in on a web page or something? I know the formatting needs work but am not sure what this forum will and won't handle. Thanks for everyones help, looks good so far. I'll work on another topic today and submit it. Rob

Robert your idea for #3 isn't bad, but I am not sure people will use it. Consider that alot of people already have submitted stuff to this forum and are probably not willing to post to an additional forum for the same purpose. Also I found any clear idea of structure lacking, and no evidence of a 'compilation' which was stated in the moo3 page. I *do* like the idea of a user created guide, but i think what people really cry for (in their hearts, where people can't hear) :) is an or

Pontius, FWIW they haven't touched my scores (yet), (knock on wood). Maybe problems w/ latest version of GalCiv. Also would you all have a gander at the thread "Galactic Appeal on Community Projects to all Galcivers" I am in the process of making a 'strategy guide', incorporated from stuff aroudn the web. It is the ultimate tool for advancing the G.R.O.S.S. propaganda (just kidding). ANyway i posted good versus evil discussion.

First post of the 'strategy guide' for lack of better name. The Unofficial GalCiv Strategy Guide Topics 1. Introduction to the game 2. Methods to win 3. Detailed strategies a. Military & Starships b. Economy & Resources c. Diplomacy & Trade d. Culture 4. Dealing with the Aliens 5. Good or Evil Topic 5 – Good versus Evil 5.1 Introduction In Galciv you can have different levels of morality depending on how

Format got really screwed, trying again. Robert, I think your post was addressed to me, thanks for your help. Here is what I had in mind as far as the project goes. It has to be a bit more than just collecting a bunch of tips because this will be very chaotic and confusing. I was thinking of a 'guide' to the game that has sections talking about the different aspects. Then we can collect posts and stick them where they belong within the guide, but leaving room for editing for contin

Raychua, I was totally kidding. That's why I put JK (just kidding) at the end of my message. How about if I work on #3 and start collecting strategies. The main problem I see is that every new version requires different strategy. I can see a 'strategy guide' evolve *if* the version nerfing ever settles down. What do you all think??
