I don't think you broke it. I know some files were updated, because I noticed them downloading (I am bandwidth challenged) on my computer. I just don't know what the updates did. They were tiny, so I suppose they may have been tweaks.

I've never built a battle hammer. I usually build frigates at that stage, since they have similar stats but move a lot quicker. And frigates cost exactly the same amount as constructors, so its easy to switch between them on the fly without squandering money.
I name all my dreadnaughts after the devil: SS Lucifer, SS Mephisto, SS Belzebub, SS Satan, etc.
What was in the updates for the bonus pack (1.0.006 -> 1.0.007) and multimedia pack (1.0.007 -> 1.0.008)? I just updated using Stardock, but I'd sure like to know what the new goodies are. Or was it just tweaks and fixes?
Remember you must first research the terror star in the tech tree (Large Scale Building -> Artificial Satellites -> Artificial Planets -> Terror Star). The first module you can add is called the Terror Star Shell, and its in the Military class of modules. You need 3 more constructors (for a total of 4) to turn a starbase into a terror star. When you add the last module you'll be prompted to cough up 5000 bc to complete the beast.
I've never played the demo, so I can't say whether its a bug or not. What I can tell you though is if a bug like that ever surfaced in the full version (I've owned the full game for a while now and haven't experienced anything similar), it would get steamrolled by the countless patches and updates the support staff for GalCiv put out.
I was just thinking of taking advantage of GalCiv being a 2d representation of a 3d world ... to those that are complaining about getting nearby resources robbed by the AI early on, You can try blockading galactic resources from alien constructors. Early on, when the AIs constructors only have a movement speed of less then 3/turn, you only need 3 ships to effectively block them from ever reaching a resource (unless they use multiple constructors). I didn't really look into the economy
how do you make alliances with minor races? My relations are always neutral, even if I offload all my tech research to them for free.
This annoys the hell out of me, but it could be part of game design. Lately all the genius AIs have been ganging up on me, demanding planets, starting wars etc. I have some previous save games where no one was at war with me (I made a point of doing this) ... but when I reload those save games, some of the races declare war immediately after loading (usually right after the "news" screen pops up, but before the current research screen pops up). I don't even get a chance to bargain wit
Every once in a while, when I reload a game, the following problems show up: -keyboard commands don't work (ie "center" doesn't center on ships, keyboard movement doesn't work) -mouse movement of ships doesn't work either (they get the autopilot written next to them, have full movement points, but refuse to move) -when I hit "next turn" the little clock icon appears, but the next turn doesn't ever arrive. This generally happens when I'm really frustrated and keep loadin
Oh, I forgot to mention I have the newest version of the game (1.03A.057). Running on WinXP. No mods installed whatsoever.

I managed to circumvent the problem ... i reloaded a much earlier save (one before I researched diplomacy). When I got the chance to switch to Republic, I did it immediately (held my fingers crossed), and no errors occured ... baffles me. ~SDC~
I get an unrecoverable crash in the following circumstances: After researching Diplomacy (i think) a new form of government is available to me (Republic). I didn't switch immediately (sort of forgot), but after maybe 8 turns I remembered, saved, and decided to switch. When the election window pops up, there's the "next" button for me to press to see the election results. After I press that an error message pops up (must alt-tab out of the game to see it), and the game freezes. The e
