I don't think there's a download for the GalCiv 2 (+ Dark Avatar) manual. I recall there used to be one back when GalCiv 2 was released about a year ago but I haven't tried searching for that. I did find a HTML version and perhaps it would suffice. Note it does not contain information pertaining to the Dark Avatar expansion, only GalCiv 2. Hope that helps to quell your reading thirst <a

Ah I see. thanks for that reply Kryo. I wished the half-production restriction was indicated in the manual or explained somewhere in the game proper.

Hi all, I been trying to find information about the different planet environments and if they have any effect on colonies (post colonization). Tried looking for more information on this topic in the GalCiv2 manual (DA updated version) but came up empty other than the short entry on page 24. I tried GalCiv2 Wiki as well but nada. I understand that certain tech needs to be researched before colonization of barren, toxic, heavy gravity, radioactive worlds may begin. <

1920x1200 here and no problems since day 1. Tried with both the ATI 9800 and the nVidia 7800GT. both with latest drivers. (of course it gets abit choppy with the ATI 9800 with large galaxies but thats another factor altogether)

I used to grab low qual planets. But now I only do so depending on the game difficulty and the location of the low qual planet. I found that at lower difficulties, I just let the AI grab those... as long as you have sufficient cultural influence, they will most often flip. Especially if there's a high PQ planet nearby with your colony on it... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

Obviously this troll has no idea what a test plan or test schedule is. I've seen the beta test plans that the folks at SD listed out ages ago when GalCiv 2 beta developement had started to kick in and ppl were invited to test. IMHO, it was one of the more *open and thought-out* software testing document I seen. I been in other betas (from A-title d

Just curious, what version of DirectX 9 are you using and do you have any other software (or utility) that is running in the background that might impact the video overlay? I used the same card recently with the latest Catalyst and it played fine. Even in window mode. Note however I only used the Drivers, I didn't use the other junk that ATI offers as download like the resolution utilities etc. Not sure if thats useful, but hope y

Espiange is deffenatly not useless, it deturmins how much you know about the race you are spying on. If you have advanced level, you can click on the planits and ships and see everything that there is to know about them, as if they were your own. (Ofcoruse you cant change things etc.) It also gives you better odd of s

Hi all, does anyone know if its possible to copy or share save games? Reason I want to do so is say I have GalCiv 2 on my home rig and my notebook, and say I want to continue my galactic conquest on either, would just copying and pasting the save game from either PCs be sufficient?

Yeh it appears that it is useless to fund anything once you reach that level... I too was wondering. And too bad we can't use our spies to sabotage the opposing AI.

Suggest that you equip at least minimal defense and at least an offensive weapon type that the AI you are planning to attack has a weakness in. Then build a handful of these ships, form fleets with them and take out the AI. Fleets allow you to pool ships that you think might not stand a chance as individuals, but as a fleet... they pack a deadly punch.
