nyhow, there's an option in the menu to toggle this behavior on and off, right by the control that sets the stepping on the rotate controls in the ship designer. Found it. This should be defaulted so that the functional components are there when upgrading. Thanks.

I just got GC2 and have v1.4x. I just created a ship, saved it. Then wanted to pretty it up. I went to the shipyard and selected the ship selected upgrade and only the hull was there. What is that???? I have to redo the entire ship again just to add some extra features? I sure hope this is a bug or I am doing something wrong. I think that I should be able to add parts to any ship and save it as a new design if I wanted to.
once a month or two. I haven't played the game for about a month and before that it has been sporadic. I was playing MOO 2 for a few weeks but I got tired of that too, even on impossible it was too easy. I never liked MOO 3. I am looking forward to GC 2 and hope it will be at least as good as galciv and I am hoping that it will be much better than the first one.
:SURPRISED: Hey! I am now in 20th spot. At this rate I will overtake Technician in a couple weeks time :) :D LOL :HOT:

You can't do that playing MASO though
Well.....you can for a while
True, then the AI decides it has had enough and swats you like a fly. :SURPRISED:
Did we loose many veterns to the second page ?
Well what ever happened I am back on the first page sitting not so pretty in 24th spot. Its been four months since my last submission and I have dropped from 1,000,000 to 690,000. :( (:(
Sounds interesting. I think that I will give it a go.
Newfy, my fellow Guardian, plays a game where as soon as he meets an allien he declares war on them no matter what, and goes for pure military victory. To me that's the most impressive victory. He plays non-masso level's for fun, not score
I do find that playing this way I get more enjoyment out of a game. There is nothing like having all the Major AI after you all the time. You can't do that playing MASO though :D
I thought that Galactic Civilizations didn't have fleets
Amaymon has a good description about fleet control and movement. The only real bonus to fleets is the ability to move many ships at once. The disadvantage to fleets is when you attack. If you attack an enemy ship with your fleet then all ships in that fleet use a turn instead of just the attacking ship. note to Amaymon, your english is just fine.
Can we look forward to future installments?
I will try, but I think that it will be very sporadic seeing how I am not playing right now. :)
The Metaverse RAG February 2, 2005 by Newfyscotian All the news that is fit to print and some that is not. Technician’s new milestones The Technician crushed the 4 million mark in the month of January with a paltry score of 4017051 points. He has an incredible 1005 games as of this date. There is no truth to the rumor that our beloved Technician is really a YOR machine who’s sole purpose is to submit 3-4 games per day to the Metaverse and ru
LoL! Hey my very first submission! 8,492 points ..which means I blew waaayyyy past scores of people to 2145th place! LoL!
Astorax, that is great! I am glad that you are enjoying the game. Remember if you have any questions about strategy or why the AI does what it does just post your questions and someone will tackle it right away. :)
One other thing, majors will surrender and join you but I have never seen a minor surrender.
Just forget about social building or technology. Do one after the other at the beginning.
This could start a great debate, but, I have found that carefully managing your sliders for the first 20 turns or so can achieve similar effects. I think that it just depends on your playing strategy.
Congrats Spacepundit Now that you have 50 games in perhaps you should look to join an empire? :) [Message Edited]
Darth, I am not sure that I like you moderating this thread. This thread like all others will die in its own time. People want to post an opinion let them. If it starts a flame war then I am sure that Stardock will intercede.
I have been playing almost as long as Technician. We have been on two Teams together from almost the beginning. In the beginning Technician like most of us oldtimers were discussing strategies and trying to find out the tricks to beating MASO, getting a higher score as well has helping newer players than ourselves. If you check Tech's games you will find that like many of us he was just an average player. At the time he started posting his 60K games you can find in the strategy thread
The Yor are always on the top of my hate list but the Korx and Dregin get not so honorable mention as well.
hehehe, for me it is the Arceans. I hate them and do whatever I can to mess them up.
you can, if you want, play the game in 35 minutes and win an alliance victory for 60K points.
That's pathetic, and I may not ever play this game again because of it

Nameistoad, you should try and play the game using your strategies and you will get much enjoyment out of the game. Forget about the score. I think that this game would do just fine without a score. My favorite AI levels are Normal and Tough with all the AI turned on.
actually i dont....and i messed it up a bit. there should be no "hq" on the end - while registering i got a bit frustrated and so used (hold on while i copy and paste my name)fhqwqadshq- check out
Go to http://www.wincustomize.com and then you can edit your name fhqwqadshq so that it is right. Wincustomize is a Stardock site that contains info related to everyones login.
~ happy with his first masochistic win ~
Congratulations Cpt. Apollo! :CONGRAT: You might want to take at look in the strategy section and see my SMALL and MEDIUM MASO walkthrus http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=184202#190283 I would have done a Tiny walkthru but it was very similar to the SMALL.
The AI seems to more readily surrender to another race at the lower difficulties. I do not remember the last time I seen a surrender when playing MASO. I do remember seeing surrenders happen almost every other game when playing normal. A surrender seems to be linked to how badly they are getting beaten, how long the fight lasts and how weak that AI is compared to the ones they are at war with.
.... and to answer your last question
has anyone have minor races develop into major empires?
this does not happen, minors do not try to develop into majors. Although if you give them some planets they could become difficult later if you want to defeat them. Some minors can become very powerful but they are not usually agressive unless you initiate war with them.
If you want to help out the minors there are several ways to do it. 1) If they are at war, gift the minors some of your advanced ships to buff up their military. But ... make sure that you bring the ships to the planet in question first. Sometimes the AI just leaves them alone if they are too far away from their planets. 2) Build a starbase that is full of culture upgrades and defence/attack upgrades in the minors sector and gift it to the minor. 3) If the minor is at
