Lets all welcome FriendJosh to our team. :D His suprise joining brings us to within a wormy cod of 4th place. We need a small push to knock over the Canadians. ;) Lets hope that the Canadians don't realize that I defected from them over a month ago. :HOT:
Wow. Aggressive. I usually have a few alliances or something going on- but then I like to manipulate the political landscape
Dearmad, I mostly play with all AI's set to Normal because I find that the most comfortable to play. The problem for me now is I have a strategy that really works the AI's over. :) I have been dabbling with the AI's set to bright just before v1.10 came out. My strategy works with the AI at Bright but I have to be really aggressive and so
I must say that our friends at Stardock deserve some applause, the free expansion plays nicely. I like the Death Knight and the fact you can do trade embargos. :)
I have found a few minor issues that have not been reported yet. (1) I found a minor esthetics that was kind of funny. When viewing the rotating planet in the planet screen the clouds are moving right to left (I am not in the game so it might be left to right) but the funny thing is the continents are moving diagonally from top to bottom of the planet. (2) In the statistics screen the 4 little buttons on the right middle. The Economics button still does not show anything.
I was just slipping on my garter when I thought I would check to see if the Evil Empire lost its hold on you. Welcome back home Rainbird. Just ask when ever you feel the need to go through my closets. :)
It was once said ...
The mighty Newfy, powerfully muscled and with only a slight tendency to put on women's clothing
... what they didn't know was, that is my battle "dress" as it were. Rainbird, If I have to put on my best femine atire to scare the evil empire into releasing thier heinous hold on you I will. But you will be responsible for all the mental anguish that I will release onto the metaverse. >:( Please come back so
My congrats go out to COTAL as of today she has 3rd spot!!! Perhaps potential new recruits will look us up due to the visability.
I tried doing the culture starbase thing to see if it pushed up my score a bit. I usually populate all the PQ13 and PQ14 planets left over towards the end of the game to bump up my population. My score was not much better. My style used to be "do everything I could to get frigates and go to war". Now it is a mix of EBZ cranking by getting all the trade and wonders tech selling early then go to war. I never trade anymore unless I take planets that have a trade route on them.
Anyone have any advice on how to get high scores on Tiny / Small maps ? I just don't get it how some people do it. The largest I can play is medium maps as my computer was built using stone knives and twine made out of wood, straw and frog brains. Thanks.
Hi, guys thanks for the congrats. I am back and posted a new game today.
The mighty Newfy, powerfully muscled and with only a slight tendency to put on women's clothing .... He's a lumberjack and he's OK... (couldn't resist)
LOL LOL LOL LOL I think that I might have to put on my special Madonna bra and kick some Aussie butts .... LOL ;) [Message Edited]
I was packing up my computer room today and came across Galciv and Galciv 2 for OS/2. Kind'a brought a tear to my eye ... might have been the dust though ;) I miss OS/2. (:( See you guys after the weekend.
Rainbird, no harm done. You have a lot of friends and supporters here. Please come back. We all enjoy your company and stories. (:(
Still difficulty playing, but overall, its ok now
Glad to hear it soldier. Please go to the GC strategies formum for more ideas and help.
Rainbird, glad you have joined us. I do not find your stories or inuendos offensive. :)
Brad - what is poutine?? Some strange Canadian concoction?
Poutine as far as I know is a French Canadian concoction that tastes very good. French Fries covered with Curds (type of cheese) smothered in gravy. Not good for the heart but very yummy.
Was it all a dastardly plot to get control of an Empire? I am evil after all.
Ok, Ok ... everyone join Rainbird's empire. Lets get it done. Lets go after the alliance and then whack the canadians with a bowl of poutine!! ;)
Nice walk through Newfy.
Thanks ricbayer, I found it tough starting out and had some help from many citizens in the neighborhood. I am just trying to return the favour. Soldier, how is it the game working out now ? [Message Edited]
The blasted Dread Lords are more of a problem for me - they tend to start with Rangers, produce like rabbits, and swarm all over the map
Looks like something to look forward to in v1.10. :notsure:
Yeah I've been hoping Brad addresses this little AI ploy soon
I would like it fixed. This shouldn't happen. As it is, most games that I play are over before any alliances occur. [Message Edited]
I enjoyed the "Alliance Rape" today. I had both Yor and Arcean on the ropes before it happened. It was quite fun toying with them while I was wiping out their economy. I recieved 3 planets, and Tons O'Cash. LOL
In v1.05 sharks and pirates increase in hit points as the game progresses. It has been my experience that when pirates first appear they have a small percentage of their points. They always attack something until they are destroyed so that they never get to the max points. Sharks in late game are a nuisance becuase they can have a rather large attack/defend ratio with a pile of HP. Try to lure them away with another ship. Even though they usually only move 1 space stay at least 3 a
Thanks Jeff, I tried playing a Tiny/normal yesterday rushing the AI. I got my lower score than usuall but it was at normal. I will soon try your ideas (and Rays) on MASO. Bluesteel, so far I like the ship or the flag. I am not really keen on the current kangaroo. But having said that, I like the people so I stay.
off topic - How do you include links to web sites or other messages in this forum ?
Blue_Steel sculled the can (with the guards cheering), waved goodbye with his upside-down, back-to-front arm, and walked on.
hehe ... HAHAHA .. Ho, snort ! ... sniff ... I am sorry but I want this guy as my emporor. You gotta respect his attitude. Send me the hacksaw Sectoids I need to lose an arm and have the other moved to the proper position now.
Jeff, I see that you play MASO. Do you have any good advice for playing on Medium or smaller maps ? I am trying to win my first MASO but I am having TOO many difficulties. I have found that the MASO strategy thread is not really been helping. Although today someone did post a walkthru guide which I will try. Thanks for any help. Frustration with MASO set to EXTREME!!! :sniff!:
