when you think your wife is an agent for the Advent when you claim her ugly sister is spying for the Vasari when you pass by a car dealership and think "$hit! They are going to spam SUVs!" when you wonder why passing cars aren't taking pot shots at you when you blame your car not starting on Ion cannons when you take back your wife's diamond claming you are short on crystal

Not to mention the fact that I am a big fan of Stardock Central. I am not the most organized with my cd keys and disks so its nice to have a program that allows me to download and install any program I have ever bought that SD published Plus - they're only about 15min away from where I live. Supporting the local economy!

My $.02: Yes and no. And let me clarify that with the following I have the same issues with all space based games (and movies) 1. An unrealistically high number of races seem to be bipedal and humanoid 2. Their cultures seem to be more of extreme extensions of our own culture/history than anything truly 'alien' (and potentially incomprehensible) 3. Most of the aliens encountered seem to be able to produce a tech base on par with everyone else. Everyone can use their
Ok people stop right now!!! Down grade to XP!!! The programmers at Microsoft fail at life with Vista!!!
Thank you for your insightful and well supported argument :NOTSURE: FWIW I have had no problems either of my 64 bit vista computers. One is an AMD 5200+ with 2 gb ram and the onboard 690g AMD chipset. The other is an e6400 with 3gb ram and a 2900xt

I think they are a good idea, but perhaps a bit unbalanced. One thing I noticed is that if the raiding pirate fleet is not completely destroyed, the remaining ships go back to their home base and sit there. New raiders are spawned, attack, return and sit. At least I think this is what happens. I never lost the bounty war and between me and the AI and the AI never had a chance between me and the pirates. The downsides is that there was a huge pirate fleet at their base as they

You do have to be more careful with your economy. However, once you get a decent population base you should be fine but 6bil per planet just isn't going to cut it. I find that I only have a few industry heavy planets and use them to do all my capital ship building. Most of my planets are econ/farm heavy to subsidize my empire. seems to work well on tough

Nevermind. I added in some ships to the custom map and a starbase. Once I removed the starbase from the custom map the above steps worked to load the map just fine

Since this seems to be the consolidated map editor thread I will post/ask this here. In my attempt to load my map through the 'tournaments' option I can get to the 'loading map' screen but then TA crashes. Here are my steps so far 1. create map and save as alamo1.gc2map 2. create new alamo1.gc2campaign with alamo1.gc2scenario and alamo1.gc2map flags 3. create new alamo1.gc2scenario with Title=Alamo1 4. changed 'active' values for all placed races from 0 to 1 in

Thanks for the replies. What are the chances we could get to place bonus tiles on the planets as well?

First I want to thank you guys (a lot) at stardock for the map editor and all the hard work on the beta. Here are some things I noticed about the map editor 1) Randomizing planets seems to only generate uninhabitable planets. They can be re-flagged, but thats a lot of re-flagging :) 2) I do not see a way to set parameters on the generation like 'Loose Clusters' 'Common' 'Rare' and the like which could be helpful I was also wondering if it would be possible to see the re

It has been my experience on huge galaxies on tough with common habitable planets that the Thalan's always seem to need help. In the last 4 games they surrendered to me once, surrendered to the drengin once and I had to get over gift the korath to keep them from wiping the Thalan's out the other two times. They have never seemed to become any kind of competition

I kind of like it. It makes wars in space require that much more planning and execution - it should take more effort to jump between 'spiral arms of the galaxy'

I've had the spy ring event (the one where an agent appears on almost all of your planets) happen in 3/4 of my games, which seems a bit frequent. Also, in Huge maps and larger this can lead to a very very long list of spies. I have had as many as 62 spies that needed to be gotten rid of. When the maximum number of spies you can produce is 1 per turn, if you can afford that kind of cash, it takes forever to get rid of them all. Also, I noticed that some of the AIs are willing to trade aw

I have noticed the game gets unresponsive for me after using the doom rays and disruptors as well. The turn button will disappear. However, if I leave the game for 3 min or so it will then continue as normal. Also, quicksaving and then loading seems to solve the issue as well. A work around that I have noticed is that if you go into the fleet battle screen this unresponsiveness stopped happening (for me at least). So I set the options to show EVERY battle with my ships involved and this has ende

Note to self, never mention any expansion pack details until we're ready to release the whole announcement since people will read in all kinds of things. Alot of us are just greatfull that you announced even slim details about future plans. Granted now I have to wait many months in anticipation - but oh well. Besides, surely by now you are used

When you start welding a large wing to the side of your car - then complain that design doesn't affect performance when your car tips over. You constantly hit crtl+n trying to get a new house closer to work When people talk of colonizing Mars, you think "Why bother, its only 4 squares?" You build a new Gazebo/grill/hot-tub in your neighbor's yard in hopes that he will be influenced into letting you have his house You spend 15min at work trying to come
