Aren't convicted felons who are about to be executed made defenseless? It's extremely disingenuous to ignore the years of court cases, the lawyerly battling, the appeals, the judicial review, etc., etc. that all take place on the felon's behalf before the felon is scheduled for execution. <TAB

GrimX, you left out one thing that I would have to say is pretty important... Establish a hard cutoff past which an abortion cannot be performed, e.g. Week 13 or 20. (I would say 13 is better; that's 3 months to figure out you're pregnant and decide what to do about it, while the fetus is still small enough to be unarguably non-viable.)

Nonetheless that is apparently forgiveable if you toe the line. Obedience is valued over intelligence in just about any organized religion.

Oh, there are plenty of people here who will happily argue that Mr. Moore is some sort of rotund demigod, but as far as I'm concerned his idea of "convincing you with facts" involves slanting and spinning the facts so heavily that you get dizzy from the blur.

Right on both counts, Lengirl! Try these: 1) A says, "B and C are of the same type." You then ask C, "Are A and B of the same type?" What does C answer? 2) A and B are lying under a tree. You ask A, "Is either of you a knight?" He gives you an answer, and you now know what both A and B are. What are they?

Don't you think people deserve a choice in what language they want to speak, write, etc.? Sure! If they want to speak Spanish, they can go to Spain or Mexico. If they want to speak French, they can go to France, Belgium, or Monaco. If they want to speak German, they can go to Germany, Austria, or The

HistoryIsHere, I'll try to summarize it for you based on my own (probably very imperfect) understanding. The top tax rate for individuals is currently 36%, down from 39%, if I recall the tax-cut brackets correctly. Dividends are taxed at a flat 15%, down from 20%. - If, as a small-business owner, you pay yourself a salary of $200,000 (that's not the actual cut-off point,

In those terms, there is no such thing as true freedom, because every action binds you inexorably to a chain of reactions. There is no action that you can take that does not cause something else to happen as a result. Then the only "true freedom" would be to sit absolutely still....

I have always been a good sleeper. Somewhat paradoxically, the only time I have any real trouble falling asleep is when I am sleep-deprived. (And even then, it's usually just pointless worrying about "will I be able to get enough sleep?" that keeps me up a few extra minutes.) Anyway, a couple of the things that I do to get to sleep when I'm not feeling like I'm just going to drop right off are: 1) relax the entire body. Start at the to

I think some people are hard wired for the cold weather. I recall that there was a study that the army did some time ago, where they did a big psychological test on a bunch of people to determine what factors figured in to whether people did well in a cold climate or not. They asked something like a co

Zoomba, for that sort of thing you could use a base password and then add "salt" on the end, depending on what system you're logging in to. Instead of just transforming your base somewhat randomly, if your base password is "Hello,Bob" any you're logging into Yahoo!, Hotmail, and JoeUser, your password for each system respectively would be "Hello,BobY!", "Hello,BobHM", and "Hello,BobJU".
