[...] quality is important. When you're sending screenshots of your stuff [...] I just have to point out that these two statements are somewhat contradictory; a screenshot is, by definition, a low-resolution image. Screenshots are somewhere along the lines of 75 to 150dpi. You don't need a 2540dpi p

The actual policy is somewhat stricter than normal, but not really unreasonable. Each rule is there to negate a specific, common type of password-guessing action. ( Although, with all the other rules, I think they could have done fine with a 6-character minimum.) Where they obviously blew it was in not choosing a policy that actually works with all their systems. (Disclaimer: I am an IT manager with a particular interest in security.

They say they'd take security over freedom any day, even if it means having a dictator ruler. ... if you call being afraid that your wife will be stolen by the dictator's sons and that you'll be tortured for marrying a pretty woman or fearing for your life because you're 1/16 Kurd or being threatened wi

Anglo, To follow up now to your 43 (the previous was to your 41), No, you haven't seen full information from both sides. What we've seen here is 98% Muggaz and 2% Karma. Dirty Laundry? No, Muggaz was the first to post it. Karma merely posted the minimum amount possible to explain the context within which she took action. Standing up for what you believe in? What exactly is it that you are standing up for here? (Serious questi

Angloesque, Apologies are not what is being requested. He can apologize all he wants, but that's not addressing the issue, which is really his behavior. I didn't see anything along the lines of "I won't do it again" or "I won't post personal attacks" anywhere in his posted e-mail.

Ok, I've never heard of that. No? How about "Everybody's doin' it, pickin' their noses and chewin' it!"? Gotta go with the general flow as to why not: (a) it's unhygienic, (b) it's gross, and (c) I have sensitive, thin-walled veins in my nostrils and you might give me a nosebleed. (On dry d

people who are smart don't go around bragging to everyone that they're smart I don't consider it bragging, just stating a fact.

Muggaz, I don't believe that you are a bad person who deserves to be banned from the site. I do believe that you don't know when to shut up about something, to let things slide, and to move on. And it sounds to me that someone is trying to demonstrate to you that you have passed that point. If you can show that you've learned where the point is, and not go past it, you won't have any more trouble. But if you're not willing to ch

I don't have an answer for your new one yet, Lengirl, but in looking at the City of Truth one, I realized that as long as the Truthful door leads to the City of truth, a perfectly serviceable question would be "Is my shirt red?" If the door gets the answer right, go through it.

So I was perusing some old files on my HD and found a stash of limericks I wrote from a long time ago. Poor Lucy to Ricky once said, "I'm tired of giving you head! If I'm not in your band, You can sleep with your hand!" So he went and screwed Ethel instead. But Ethel to Ricky then said, "stop spilling your sperm

Putting the lie to the old saying, eh? ("You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose.")

XX, you quoted the original article, which was not by drmiler. Drmiler provided the source and a link for his info about the vote tabulation (CBS News).

All excellent recommendations, nmrhth. (I haven't read the last 2, though I did see "The Princess Bride". ... Did you really mean that the movie is that much better than the book?) And of course I should have recommended almost anything by Robert Heinlein, but in particular Starship Troopers (nothing like the movie, thank heavens) and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress .

But I have no idea how to make it more clear as to whom the comment was directed at other than by putting their name in the quote. drmiler, perhaps you should try a format more like this.

1/ Nickname? Not that I know of or can recall.... Doesn't mean I didn't have one, though. 2/ study ethic? I was a last-minute kind of student. Papers got written the night before they were due, etc. (This is pretty normal in grade-school, though, since they give you a lot of stuff that's due the next day.) Always got straight A's. As with chip, this eventually hurt me in college and other areas. 3/ Evil little bastard? No, only once, no

Yeah, it should be at least 3 out of 29. (Assuming PMS goes on lunar cycles, which are 29.5 days long). That makes 1862 -> 1303 -> 286 -> 97 -> 4 lovelorn PMSed man-hating homicidal gun-toting bimbos per day. Makes me glad I only commute 5 miles each way....

You got it, Lengirl! So I guess I want to guess a couple more for your older one ("a part of us, and then replaced")... air? oxygen? spit? a fart? And since nobody's taken a whack at the City of Truth, let me see if I can walk through the construction of the question, with the further restriction that you can only ask YES/NO questions. Obviously you can't ju
