I have no idea what +3 Tech does overall. Good post. I'm curious as well. Could a dev please provide an answer? (Assuming one is watching and not too busy working on not-MoM) :) Cheers, Scanner28

Phaedyme, Please don't misunderstand me - I actually do enjoy having the minors on hand in a game. Now that we have a new ecomony system in place, I find them more valuable for being someone I can sell and exchange tech with during the early game. I also enjoy the tiny bit of B-5 flavoring they add to my games. I just find it unbalanced that a minor can crank out constructors and gobble up resources at the far edge of a huge map. I often observe them building influence star bas

The Minors - Is anyone else a little annoyed that by the time you get the ecomony in gear and send out constructors that the minors have nearly bagged all resources? It appears that since they have nothing better to do, they just go out and gobble resources. Their advantage seems very out of balance. I've encountered some minors happily sitting on resources, at the extreme edges of huge maps, but with barely any propulsion tech beyond hyperdrive. How are the minors considered r

On to a different observation - Has anyone else noticed influence drop to zero on a UP council vote or afterwards? I'm thinking this might be a bug. It only happened to me once early in this game. After wining a vote against the Thalans, I went to trade with the minor races and the Thalans and realized that the Thalans had no influence to spare. I didn't think much of it until I realized my influence was also reduced to zero when engaging the minor races in trade during that same round.

Lord Zarth, Okay, if it's not a bug, then why does creativity seem to kick in more frequently when no research is happening? I took a previous autosave for a spin, set all spending to zero, and just clicked away to see what would happen - within about seven turns I got another creativity provided breakthrough. I'm willing to accept that I have simply gotten lucky on this particular game, but it just feels funny to me. Maybe I just feel so beat up over the Eco

Loupdinour, I'm not sure exactly why my economy was bleeding so badly. During the worst of the deficits I had my Survey Vessel, a Thalan scout I trade for, and at most two colony ships. Most of my Human Empire money problems began to disappear by the time I got to Zeno Trade Center, two forms of government away from the game start, and two advanced trading centers on every planet that could fit them. I also got the Economic expansion event, so that has helped a great deal, but

Good Afternoon, I was playing the latest beta last night (Human, GS:Immense,9 opponents, normal difficulty) and I wish to report one bug and some observations on the game in general: My ecomony was operating at an increasingly negative amount (I'll detail that in a second) - In order to try and get back to a positive balance I set production to zero and turn after turn, I watched the deficit increase. That's not the bug. If the following is not a bug, then I find it to

Three cheers for Stardock! Thank you so much for listening to us. You've now created a paradox - I want to spend more money on your games, but I must stop playing to go work and earn money for said games. Evil has never left me feeling so happy to be a Stardock gamer. Go Stardock! Cheers, Scanner28

Good Morning, Noticed another bug last night - I had just completed research for the Advanced Market Center. I had two marketing centers completed on each of my three worlds. I checked the price on simply buying the available building upgrade - The first marketing center was listed at a price of 72. This was true for all marketing centers on two of my planets. On my third planet the second advanced marketing center (upgrade) was listed for a price of 458. It was an upgrade to a pre-exis

Hey, Found a new minor bug yesterday evening. I launched a colony ship to a planet with an established colony within two moves of my homeworld (Earth). My colony ship (with a base movement of three) arrived, I disembarked the passengers, and then I was able to relaunch the ship. My last point of movement should then have been used up in relaunch, but it was not. My base movement was reset to three. Each time I landed, my base movement reset. I was able to ferry over on

Hi, I recently downloaded 1.7 and I was reviewing my swank new event log when I noticed a minor bug concerning the legend for icons. The legend does not appear at the bottom of my screen, but about a quarter of the way up and it is superimposed other event listings. Other than that - The game has been running fantastically. I also love the new lease pay-off feature. I also have a minor suggestion regarding the event log. I'm wondering if you couldn't make icons for t

Hello, I just wanted to point out that NVidia has come out with new drivers for Vista as of 9/18. About time, by Gum. Also, I downloaded 1.7 and I was reviewing my swank new event log and the legend for icons does not appear at the bottom of the screen, but about a quarter of the way up and over event listings. Oh, this is not a bug, more of a styling request. I really like the event the log, but I was wondering if you couldn't make icons for tech which were

CariElf, Yes, I do have the heightmaps module installed. Also, I was reading the out of memory thread (and I guess my issue now straddles a problem with memory and Vista); and this is only my opinion; but to answer a question you asked on that other thread: Yes, playing in windowed mode does make a difference to me. I like playing in Full Screen, it makes me feel more immersed in the game. Now, if I have to sacrifice Full Screen to finish a game (until the next upgrad

Just when I thought it was safe to go back to the game: I started another game since I wrote you. I now got an out of memory error. Should I be applying the hot patches I I hear other people trying out? Dang, I spoke too soon. I reset my resolution to match as you suggested and the error has reappeared consistently. At least now I know my drivers are up to date. CariElf, I will try your suggestion of matching my game to my desktop resolution. Also, I think you should know - I had to manually update my Sound Blaster driver, but that appeared to do the trick. I ran the game ten times in a row last Friday morning with no crashes. On a lighter note, can you guys develop something that forces Vista to actually look for a driver and not provide lip service? Better yet, how about a Stardock operating system? <img src="http://images.s

Hi, Due to a hardware problem on my old PC, I was forced to upgrade to Vista and I now have a problem running DA. This evening, I went to the nvidia website, I uploaded the latest drivers (using 7.15.11.6222), my card is the GeForce 8800 GTS and my machine is an HP 4790y running 64-bit Vista. My Da problem: Upon starting a new a game, if I decided I don't like the current system and decide to go to the main menu and start a new game, the game will crash and I will rec

Pardon me for being a noob, but how do I generate a debug report? I've been having random crashes and I'm fairly certain it was because my virtual memory needing some increasing. Is there a link or section of this site that walks me through running the debug report? Thanks for the assist in advance, and a mighty big thank you to Star Dock for crafting such a mighty fine game. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle

Good Evening, Is this a bug or a design choice? I am playing on the 1.04a.62 version and early in the game all of the minor races I have encountered may be solicited to attack or entreat peace of every race on the board. I first noticed it in particular with the Alexians. At turn two, they don't have the tech or the ships necessary to meet someone other than me, yet according to the treaty options they may go to war with everyone. My treaty section has no such flexibility,

Hi, Has anyone else seen this bug? My game will crash right to windows if I purchase anything which sets me into negative spending. I'm running the .62 version, and this happened when I bought Gravity Accelerators early in the game. It also happened when I was running the .59 version and bought the Terraformer. That game became unplayable afterwards. Also, in the .62 version - I had changed government to republic, but balked at having my negative income per turn double. I switch
