So you need an entertainment building to distribute the effects of a resource?
Gengsta, I agree, except that since you couldn't capture enemy cities with them, I didn't care for them. I used gravships usually, and until I got them, needlejets and drop-capable mobile or hovertank units to capture (and raze) enemy cities.
PBB and/or EBZeroMatrix, would one or both of you drop me a line at ? I have a few questions that I'd prefer to keep to private message atm.
As I understand it, you should not have to. But you may have uncovered a bug. I've noticed that the morale star bases I get seem to have little effect as well. And they are never in the same sector as any of my planets, so that might be the problem. [Message Edited]
Warty, Hurley, Slitherin, and/or Space Wombat, would one or all of you contact me at ? I have a question about your empire I'd prefer to remain private for now.
Could somebody please clarify the MoralityWeight variable for me? I had a game I was playing with several weight 1 events where I picked the good path, and about three weight 5 events where I picked the evil path. Yet the UI turned evil on me! But according to BoogieBac's last post (which contradicts his first), weight 5 is supposed to have almost no effect on your morality! So now I'm quite confused here. And is there any way to tell in-game what your current morality score is?
Back to the problem someone was having earlier getting an alliance victory (can someone tell me how to quote previous posts?) the solution is to give them about 6 to 8 star systems in one gift. Sometimes it needs it needs more, but coming from neutral that is pretty much guarenteed to get anyone to close relations (unless they're *way* bigger than you, then it'll take more like 15). Doing it in multiple gifts won't cut it, I've found, because the AI will typically only accept one gift eve
Which is why this industry needs more developers like StarDock, Miquel. If a company can produce a product solely off retained earnings, and accomplish the no turnover virtual miracle StarDock did, they have a much better chance of producing a quality product, than if they are working for a publisher house that is fronting the cash in anticipation of a return later. Oh there's a TON more to it than that, but I feel that that is one of the biggest and most important 'first steps' the in
How did this thread get drug back up? Sheesh. Well, either way, the vitriol in this thread, from BOTH sides, just about makes me sick. GalCiv is a good game. MOO3 was not, on release. With the beta patch it's much better, and with a few key mods it becomes about half of what people were hoping for. Perhaps if we are incredibly lucky another patch will come out and increase that to 60%. But GalCiv wasn't perfect on release either, tho it was probably a lot better. And the patches
For the record, I think you are rather a master at looking like a moron on a message board.
I think you could now say he is, rather than you think he is...
Here's another mirror for the PDF version. http://www.orionsector.com/pages/galciv/downloads/The_Unofficial_GalCiv_Strategy_Guide_v1_0.pdf
Reverant Leader: Actually when you think about it, the way to get the most trade money out of a sector is to have the route diagonal from one corner of the sector to the far-opposite corner. That said, it's mostly impossible to do. You are better off looking for really good planets to trade with, and just deal with the route as it is. (IMHO)
Actually, I have to disagree. Check this picture out: ..1 2 3 4 5 6 1 * * * * * * 2 * * * * * * 3 * * * * * *<
OS's thread discussing this can be found here (just in case I forget to come post the link here for any updates...) http://forum.orionsector.com/viewtopic.php?t=1074 Of course, I'll try not to forget, but work has been a nightmare from hell this week...... [Message Edited]
Oops, sorry for the delay. MSWord version here: http://www.orionsector.com/pages/galciv/downloads/The_Unofficial_GalCiv_Strategy_Guide_v1_0.doc PDF version coming as soon as I can borrow the software from folks at work. Probably early next week. HTML version coming soon afterwards...
Kudus to Robert! New version coming soon. We also need someone to make a HTML version from the Word version. Any takers??Rob
I think I can handle that.
What type of dip would go best with a lime tortilla?
Try seven-layer bean dip. Very high fat and calorie content, but very tasty.
Am I way off base?
Nope. I think that would be a great idea. But that's just my opinion.
But I really fell of my chair laughing when I saw some of those invasion methods in GalCiv - fire asteroids at enemy planet and so on.Well, not inherently funny - situational humor perhaps.Very cool IMHO .
Yes, GalCiv doesn't take itself over-seriously. And that's a good thing.
Yes, it has been in development for a very long time, but sometime last year ( march, I think ) , they decided to cut away a lot of features and redesign the rest, so the whole thing got very..well, inconsistent, if you know what I mean. They got really confused after the re-design, according to some interviews, so one could call that a rushed-out product
Well, to be more accurate, you would say they cut away a lot of features and 'forgot' to redesign all the other feature
I'm with you 100% on the GalCiv rating though.
I'll have to agree with you two here. GalCiv is a really good game and here's to hoping for many more to come.
After reading that you can get Moo3 for free from Amazon yesterday, I was thinking about if I should get it in spite of all the bad stuff I've read about it.
Hell, why not? I mean, it's a free game, what more could you really ask for? If you don't like it, you got paid two bucks to buy a christmas gift for your least favorite friend. LOL If you like it, you got paid two bucks to have another game to play. I don't see the downside here! ;P [Message Edi
I *do* like the idea of a user created guide, but i think what people really cry for (in their hearts, where people can't hear) is an organized guide that they can actually flip through and find stuff, like a book. Often times when confronted with a database I am not even sure what to put for search text. I think alot of the stuff that would make up such a guide is already posted, just waiting to be dug out and put in context, which is, as I understand it, our job.
Yeah
Ray & Rob. We were thinking about a format similar (though obviously not identical) to the CoW for #1 and the OSG for #3. These can be found at the following links. Would you two care to take a look and tell me what you think? Citadel of Words: http://www2.onyx.nu/pb/cow/ MOO3 Online Strategy Guide: http://www.orionsector.com/sg/
Comparing it to GalCiv is unrealistic and saying it is a better product is moronic
Exactly how is it 'unrealistic' to compare GalCiv and MOO3? They are both strategy games, both set in space, both empire building, and both turn based. If they were any more similar, they'd #(@$ near be the same game! As for saying which is the better product, that's a matter of personal opinion. But, shock, gasp, HE DID NOT SAY WHICH GAME HE THOUGHT WAS BETTER! So calling him
