Sometimes I think Stardock have finally managed to get FE to a stable state with no more bugs in core functionality, and then along comes a bug like this I can't understand how such a thing can be possible - it shows that the game is totally wrong somewhere in its core design and that it will thus never get to a sensible state.
Oh quit being a drama baby emo it

If it's "designed" to work that way to favor the AI on HIGHER difficulties (when does it start?) then I'm all for it. Too many players think they should still be able to stomp the AI at higher levels and that's just wrong thinking. At higher leve

I also certainly vote for evolving FE and not start over with something else. When you start over with something else you kill the older game much like you did Elemental : War of Magic (nobody is going to play that anymore now that elemetal : Fallen Enchantress is out with much improved everything. Adding to FE is definitely the way to go like Galactic Civ II with it's "expansions" It's still Galactic Civ I

Well I've heard stories about how the humaans beat the diety level of Civilization and it wasn't fair at all. They play on a SMALL map with ONE AI opponent and RUSH over and eliminate it before it has time to progress. TO me that's hardly beating the Diety level of difficulty. Nope, until you have beaten DIETY with ALL AI OPPONENTS on the MAP at the same time then you haven't beaten it you&#39

Yep and that was the reason they went for a 30 pop cost in 1.20, which worked pretty good. I think it was unintentionally changed back to gold cost. Derek can you confirm or at least give a reasoning on changing it tot gold cost.
Hey how bout we have a gold AND pop

Did you have a high resource yield on that river square? I really don't see the problem really as in Civilization and even MOM one could and should setting on a river square as it produced the most of everything in those games. Why is Stardock trying to muster it out as a settling spot?

Master of Magic took "population" away when you made a settler why are they changing it to gold? When a settlement of people move (nomads) there's population in that group and gold really plus a maint cost while they are looking for new territory to settle and I believe that was 2 food points not sure about the gold requirement but I do remember the food cost to the city they came from. Food in MOM also was related to gold income as each worker you tu

Did you guys play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri? Because the randomness in that game (optional of course) was quite a lot of fun after playing the stairstep techup game for a long time. To me it feels too gamey to know what research you're going to discover and how long it's going to take. Even in real life that doesn't happen. How long we been looking for a cure for cancer? One other thing is many discoveries have been made while researching

Did you ever play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri? Next to Master of Magic it's one of my all time favorites because of the way you could play it. The ability to design units based on discoveries was the greatest. But, it had another feature that was also great, the ability to BLINDLY techup/research. You basically picked a catagory of tech but you never knew what you were going to get. Of course the same techs were always in that catagory but when you

I can try to answer one of your questions. The one about Spell of Mastery (ok spell of making but spell of mastery sounds so much better and reminds me of the greatest fantasy strategy game of all times MOM). I think the reason it's very quick to do is for those gamers who like "short games". They aren't concerned with crushing the world or doing some long drawn out quest or even a political one. They want

Thanks Derek that's what I wanted to know if I could just delete the whole file. I prefer the AI to use the units I design because I take a lot of time designing them just as I did modding Spartan's AI and Kohan's AI's and made the "most" challenging AI's in those games. (at least for me). Imho MORE doesn't always mean "better" or "more effective". Afterall it was a handful of me(n) who helped defeat Xerxes at Thermopylae right? ;)
