Hi Deggial. Welcome to the forums. :) I think you are right. The least amount of micromanagement the better. The idea I spoke about in the video was to make use of the 3x3 grid as a one-off arrangement to position troops in the front or rear ranks.
I've played a couple of games of Warlock and agree it is nothing at all like Fallen Enchantress - but is still fun in its own right. I think it would be a mistake to try and compare the games.

I use Bandicam to record. It compresses as it records which is really nice. I used to use Fraps until finding it. I actually don't post-process its output. A 30 minute video is typically around 900Mb. And the quality is good.
I think you're right. Mid game the AI never sends stacks with more than 3 units and they become XP fodder.
I'm not missing dynasties at all. Was a distraction to the main game I felt. I like the current mechanic of recruiting different skilled heroes.
I like the current mechanic. If you introduce costs and micromanagement to the 'Xpand' portion of the 4X game it will grind the game down (like it did in WoM).
Did they get rid of the create your own units that were in the original game... Don't remember to much about it.. But I do seem to recall you could make your own army units and outfit them the way you wanted. Seems now everything is premade.
Yes, you can absolutely create your own units and it is much better in this game than it ever was. If you play Gilden you can also use a Golem as your base unit and then add traits etc

YouTube can be hard work. And upload times can be terrible. Would love a quick way to upload. What program are you using?
I was playing as Tarth and had positioned the outpost first, city later. The outpost was positioned on a diagonal from the city.
Definitely only seems to work if the ownership of the land doesn't change (i.e. if there is an outpost covering the area).
I think this is a very important discussion (probably the most important one) because it looks at the underlying game mechanics that give games a long replay value. I think that the start of replayability issues for these sort of games is the need to provide strategic choice that dramatically shifts the focus on one hand, and the need to balance the game on the other hand. The simpler the mechanic the easier the task. That is why I feel games like Warlock have the inside running over
Lol. :)

Agree with OP and also agree with Heavenfall's take on the map size dictating some item levels.
I had an outpost next to a city and then the city was destroyed by wandering monsters. I didn't lose the territory the city was on because of the outpost and so was able to rebuild the city again. Not that I like the game mechanic of permanently losing the grain and materials after a city is destroyed.
I've noticed that outposts now have precedence over cities with regards claiming territory. I'm assuming this is a bug. In one game I built an outpost on the border of an AI city and claimed all the resources he had secured.
Thanks for that. I don't tend to use keyboard shortcuts yet for FE. :) Here's episode 14...

1. General feedback on if you felt the monsters were a threat (were they too strong, too weak, or about right). I'm liking the monsters in this version. They are strong and you need to pick your battles. You also need to protect your cities. 2. General feedback on if you felt the AI players were a threat (were they too strong, too weak, or about right). AI Players are good. I'd say on average they are about right in terms of challenge
Thanks again for the comments. :) At this stage in the game Gilden is a reliable ally and is at least causing difficulties for Yithril. Yithril is still sending troops past and attacking but I assume there are also a number of battles going on in the fog of war. Besides that, sending an army south would mean either leaving the west undefended of my capital undefended. Feel it is best to secure the capital and work in the west at this point in the game. Regarding the AI not bei
