There are several "enhancements" the AI needs to attain parity with human cheating: I think the AI should reload when it loses a battle . ;) Any AI should also press Alt n to get a good starting location. ;) The AI should build up a huge killer fleet, put it right next to a friendly human world and then launch an unstoppable surprise attack on its' dearest friend. ;) The AI should make peace to extract gold and other concessions from the human and then d

J4 Yes, it is an excellent game. The trade is good. In my first game I just sent my first two freighters to the nearest AI system, not the best idea. Umh, the Drengin loved me for it though!
RayChua, So far as I can tell, there seem to be quite a few Apolytoners splitting their time between The Civs (1, 2 & 3), GalCiv, Rise of Nations, GalCiv and other games. Perhaps they don't devote as much of their time to this one game? Don't forget a lot of "Civvers" are hardcore Civvers who keep playing Civ very regularly for years thus cutting into playtime. I think there are going to be plenty of hardcore GalCivers too! :) We will see in a few years. Umh, Stardock will hav
I can see why people might suspect a cheat if they don't understand why something happened, particularly if they are new to the game. I only acquired this game three days ago and started a game on fool difficulty level. I was actually wondering if the AI gave the human player some "cheats" at that level because good things kept happening that I really needed. I was in a frightful financial hole and I get the message "A Huge Drengin starship has arrived with exotic goods giving you an e
A simple definition of cheating: If I lose my opponent obviously cheated. ;)
RayChua, There is plenty GalCiv over at Apolyton, no need for any evangelising. ;) Umh, looks like Apolyton is taking over the GalCiv galaxy. :) Good, I came here from a link in the Apolyton forum. :)
Actually I was thinking of Civ along with a couple of other games. In Civ2 it was just a racket but fortunately in Civ3 it is very expensive and chancy to steal which helps calm things down a lot. :) Umh, the peaceful options in Civ2 were actually far more violent than the warlike options for me. If the chance of success is small and the cost very high I can live with it so long as the AI does not make a habit of the theft. Unfortunately some people are loudly clamour
I think there is a significant but subtle difference between an AI "cheat" and an AI "advantage". The AI needs advantages to compete with human player so it should get its' tech say 10% cheaper, it should be able to produce things 10% faster, have some diplomatic advantages etc etc. This is because an AI is a set of "if then" statements that must necessarily lack the flexibilty and adaptability of a human mind. The AI needs bonuses to help compensate for the extra intelligence and adap
I really do not want "steal a tech" in this excellent game. Such an ability would push the game to far towards turning into a war game particularly if good advantage could be gained by whoring the stolen tech to every civilisation in the galaxy. That may the risk of war worthwhile. Also can be abused to start wars, steal and hope to get caught so the other guy declares war! If too many aggressive options are put in then the AI must use them which in turn forces the human to use them and on it go
Thank you. I now know it is there. I will find it. :)
Sounds to me like you have run out of money. If your bank balance goes below minus $500 then all production ceases and all money is put towards your bank balance until your debt is less than $500.
Is terraforming ever available? I have come across soil enrichment and habitat improvement. I have not researched all of the tech tree in my few games but I have researched quite a bit and have not found terraforming. Is it ever available? (I hope so. Turning a worthless planet into a gaia enriched paradise was one of the pleasures of Master of Orion ). :)
