expose-ish type of application that lets you manage your windows, or similar alt-tab replacement like the windows powertoy which shows thumbnails of your tasks - however that powertoy has problems with some of my apps so a desktopx varient might help. something that tiles your titlebars or icons at the LEAST would be a sure-fire legal alternative. 'sketch pad' - lets you draw either directly on the desktop, or in a whiteboard type setting to make quick doodles - MSN messanger's whiteboa

as for widgets... i tried that once and was immediately dissatisfied. it could have been a fluke in the particular objects i was using, but they were resource monsters.. spacifcally, these shortcuts for dictionary.com, google, and thesourus, and a clock. since i wanted icon effects also, it was easier just to have desktop running than to have all of these indibidual items in my start folder, hogging my system tray, and slowing down my desktop drawing by being loaded, individual program

i havn't used media player 10 but, i can speak for 9.. sorry if this is long-winded i'm working on my first cup of coffee for the day. it takes 3 to get me to my norm. this is my 2c blog on WMP. i can't understand why people trash it.. i use it here at work, and i don't use it at home only because of - amoung things listed below - i prefer itunes' sharing capabilities. i've always loved WMP. it has a great library, a wonderful set of features, and the windows media audio enc

yes there is a lot more that can go on over there but i'm going to limit myself to only one petition.. for now there are suprisingly some very (albeit small) stable areas, with a lot of people, while being medically lifted, still need educational support. however the goal of said request to get involved is to let HP know that the program SHOULD be taken to other areas.. including right here where w

gotta tell ya, frogboy.. i'd like more than those two options on your premium content poll.. it's an opinion about the 'high quality' of the premium skins.. what i mean is, of course i want to support the artists.. but i don't consider a lot of the premium 'blinds something i would use on my machine.. my only other option is 'no' which means i'm a cheap bastard. :/ all of the 'premium' skins are ni

Dear Carly, I recently read an article about the HP 441 pilot program ( http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=technologyNews&storyID=5634993&pageNumber=0 ) and I would like to voice my support for this program. I believe the benefit of inexpensive computers, and the ability for school districts to cut the amount of equipment they need to buy without sacrificing student needs, has the potential to be an extroadinary boost to education everywhere. I hope that HP recognizes the

the following article highlights a pilot program HP has began in africa to provide low-cost, multi-user, linux-based computers to impoverished school districts. the program enables a school district to cut computer program costs up to 60% by proving a single processor 'terminal' with up to 4 monitors, keyboards, and mice. one computer for multiple students - or slashing the amount of computers a school would need to purchase overall, without sacrificing student needs. however, the arti

thank you, all, for reminding me why i loethe to hold discussion with other human beings. i don't care what options you put into OSX because it's still OSX, and i still don't like the way it works. i don't care what applications you steal, what 'innovative' feature you create, or what color you make your interface. it still launches programs the same way, it still interacts with other computers the same way, and it is still not comfortable to me. but that is only me. you won't hear me

i hope they didn't hurt themselves, going through all that trouble.. you know, throwing a gradient layer over the graphics they used to make the blue xp theme i was thinking 'wow, the xp theme people made a new one? so it must look dramatically different from the exisiting themes.. like, white, or transparent, or something.' not too much different from that overkilled ole blue one. /me sti

i'm posting this in general, 'cause its a general question. this is something that, after using ODNT for a year, i never really saw a concise answer to. it's very simple. you might want to smack me with something: with windowblinds and winfx, and desktopx, all applying visual effects like shadows and type smoothing, should you turn off the windows xp visual effects (system prop >> advanced >> performance >> visual effects) such as animate windows, fade or slide menus, shadows, smooth sc

Well, if you had bothered to check the facts you would see thateverything is quite true well, let me clarify.. i can't dispute posted articles from factual sources.. my problem with them as evidence is that they are isolated incidents, with the narrowmindedness of a few. like i said before, their way of thinking was not consistent with the rest o
