we're doin this again? trillian!

i still don't use wigets because i don't like having 6 individual programs launched taking up 5-10 megs of memory each. its a pain if you have to clsoe them, its a pain when windows boots. and i could never get all of them to start up correctly, consistantly- or even function consistantly. its much easier to have desktop x manage objects - since it has to be installed anyway, and you get full control over the objects. on that note, however, i still have some very strange problems with d
err. forgot nextstart had a page. hehe.
compromise.. there is already an internet explorer skin section which is pretty outdated. make that a 'browsers' skin area. our sections already have the ability to break down into cats. think also about programs that arn't supported on other sites. yes trill is on DA.. but what about samurize? winstep? WC could keep a uniqueness by supplying sections for programs that arn't featured often around the rest of the web.
hmm.. nice features. i took a chance reading past the letters 'aol' and i'm actually quite interested.
the key words of frogboys were 'skins that have already done the legwork'.. i can agree with object dock, but firefox, mozilla? as someone pointed out not many skins exist. regardless of whether there is something out htere better than trillian, the fact is it exists, it is VERY popular, and has TONS of skins.
people have been calling for trillian for months.. kinda shocked, actually, not to have seen it added when 'progress animations' went in. trill skins would make a great addition here.. soo many out there, so many matching windowblinds skins, and it would be ea lot easier to come here for them then DA, for example. its just hard to fish for the right skin in DA.
donna the idea of a working from a 'stardock profile', like an MSN passport, would be an easy way for a user to plug in all that info - when they create an account, for example - once and for all and objects could be designed to grab that info from online and store it rather then look into the registry, which will tick off teatimer and zone alarm and other such tools. you have the stardock system t
watch out for those balloons, man.. they'll be the next thing banned by the government, along with merry go rounds and seesaws.
would like to see WB use shadows.. i havn't come across any skins with them currently in, so i use winfx.. on odly styled skins (like airlock) winfx doesn't display them properly
purina, hus. cleans your teeth while you munch. and its even good in milk..
my cat's breath smells like cat food.
very well written quip, xero. 'cult following' is the perfect way to describe AMD users. myself included, i've noticed a growing number of people around here who have built their machines with AMD chips to save cash over pentiums - and have been very pleased. my xp1500 is a 1.5ghz which out performs my 2.6 p4 in graphics. my father took my advice when rebuilding an old computer and used an AMD 2300
completely agreeing with brad. if i offer to give someone a ride in my car, they'd better not tell me what music to put on the radio. 'beggers can't be choosers'. i get real tired of doing favors for people and having them criticize the favor or complain the whole time. if someone puts up a site or a program, and you use it, you are just a passanger. unless you are chiping in for gas don't expect the driver to put the additional effor
SWEET!!!! werewolf, if you can assign shortcut keys to your middle click, you could use object bar.. make a menu come up under the mouse pointer
i came really, really close to purchasing the winstep suite.. but i had just renewed my OD subscribition and i thought.. this is silly. let me see what i can do with what i already have. if you are an OD subscriber and you have object bar and object dock or desktopx, you already have these winsetep features in your current programs. object bar itself is the nextstart start menu (see the Object Bar theme 'simple' or my 'on call') - and it is faster and uses better resources than winstep. desktopx
a scripts library? people have told me before that to solve a certain problem, search the library for a similar object then look at the code.. but do you guys think there are enough odds and ends floating around out therethat arn't attached to objectsto make a library? that could be good, in my opinion.
people are always amazed when i tell them i havn't rebooted my computer in a week..
as for search bars, aside from internet searches can we have a search object that tallys files on the computer? search by date, by modified, by type, etc?
"Sketch pad – I think you’re looking for a TabletPC " pretty often someone hangs over my desk and says 'what can we do here?' and i run off some ideas, waving my hands around, or i have to pencil into my physical sketch pad. i thought it'd be nice to be able to a pencil and draw right on the desktop, or in a whiteboard that i can kick off to photoshop. looking forward to some of these ne
those skins are amazing.. its too bad they hog memory, tho.
these are kinda personal items, but.. i'm an MSN subscriber (calander, contacts, eail, tasks, appointments, notes is ALL online) and i access it constantly from all of my three computers so i can keep my head together no matter where i am. my home machine is outlooked and thus syncs with MSN.. but at the office i use groupwise, which does not sync with msn and is therefore completely useless, and my notebook is.. well, a notebook. rather than have to launch MSN to schedule and check an appointme
mm morphing reminded me of something.. i use quicken (unfortionately) and would love a billpay reminder.. its sort of like a mail checker, but it works with uicken (duh) ms money's got a nice one that sits in the system tray, if you need an example. but a wiget/object for doing fast actions to quicken would be fabulous (hee hee.. i said faaabuloouuus).
people are gonna kill me, but..: objectdock for dekstop x.. so while running dx and only dx, you get all that functionality of being able to tree out folders.
