this is interesting, and if Norton Tech support wan't a bunch of automated robots i bet they would have figured this connection with NIS and desktopx months ago.... i too ran into this problem with my script engine and all java becomming currupted. but i did not attribute it to desktopx. i ended up uninstalling NIS 2004 and 2005 instead to fix my problem. if i had known it was desktopx fighting with norton i would have dropped desktopx first

i think that's great news. MSN messanger bringing my family another step closer to saving on long distance telephone bills
old spice. someone gave me a sample thing once, smelled really good.. but, i don't really buy anything. come to think of it, when that bottle of high class cologne ran out.. i became single. .. .. i'll see you guys in a few, i gotta go shopping...
i'll just add my concurrance for more clarification between the two areas. i can't see the two actually being separated because of the way the new WC was built and i suppose the staff has their reasons for marrying them together. But my 2cents for the staff is: you've married two completely different communities together but expect things to remain all-ages. A restriction or permission to access might be togglable in someone's user preferenc
this is purely a wish list.. i realize DX has some limitations, but mostly the ease and accessability of widgets makes me want to replace certain applications alltogether (like character map or type manager) magnification widget.. widget manager widget (yes... like dashboard...) map directions widget sketch tool widget (let you draw out something you can copy and paste into another app like photoshop) <b
just a little left handed slap.

i use it half as much as i used to but it is still valuable. I would work from three machines - my home desktop, and my work desktop, but my laptop was my primary computer - holding all of my data. I would sit it on my desk at home or at work and access my laptop data with my desktop programs, having non essential things on the laptop - or, if i was designing while referencing copy - i would sit the reference page on the laptop and have 100% of my desk
i've been a norton cheerleader for years, but with internet security 2004 and 05 ive run into so many problems i had to ditch the software. i'm still trying to get my money back.... on some machines, norton currupts the windows script engine. With your OS java warped, a lot of web content such as on line games, and even some scripted interfaces, will cease to work. Also, media player would crash upon opening. I also had problems with my .net

*smacks bill*... GET OFF OF DOS!!!! take a hint from os/2!!! take a hint from osx!!! hundreds of thousands of tiny dll and support files files=BAD. one goes wrong, everything fails.
i. want. very slick... i've noticed the msn explorer browser has always had that cool feature where the menus blur out the content behind them, and i've wished for that in WB
"Apple is moving to Intel chips mostly because of the fact Intel chips are so much more energy efficient than their projected PowerPC chips." incorrect.. apple is making the move because IBM can't keep up with demand. what makes a mac a mac is the OS. the hardware has been the same in all machines for a long time - though, a mac has specifics where as a pc is (bloated)designed to work with many different hardwares. i'm
interseting concept. would it be bundled with windows? apple boasts how when you buy a mac, you get ilife and don't need video editing software, photo stuff, etc.. windows could win back some designers by going a different rout in bundeling design productivity software.
as a general rule, i ignore people who give the 800lb gorillas/skinning fascism/stardock blows arguement (i don't mean you, calabi, i know you're kidding ). brad, i'm always glad to see you review other companies software and point out the expansion of windows skinning, and all the possibilities - even when it highlights your competitor. it shows that the big kids at
leave it to apple to popularize an existing idea. a few months ago i was showing off objectdesktop software to one of our IT guys at the office. applejuice pumps through his veins, we always bicker at each other over coffee. i showed him desktopx, and the widget ability, and didn't get much more than a half-hearted "that's nice" in return.. i think he said something about how they were pointless. the other day i was down there to say
according to an article carried in reuters this weekend, apple is switching from IBM because IBM can not deliver on promises of productivity and technology advancement. the way i take this, is, IBM is slowing apple up through both merchandise availability and processor performance that isn't growing as fast as - say, intel. intel certainly has great capacity to build chips. apple's initial plan, according to reuters, is to place intel
what you would find useful is Objectbar ... objectbar is the more powerful predecessor to right click .. it is a similarly designed menu, but it can be assigned a shortcut key and if you can program a mouse button to launch that shortcut (i have a random button on my logitech that will 'shift+f9' for me) than you can make your custom menu come up right under your mouse cursor at any time. this is the interface i use - i had the same concern as you usin
welcome miniboxx!!
you're correct, took, the 'genie' effec is copywrited by apple
this is halarious.. i admit you had me at first by listing all of the completely rediculous reasons peaople have for going mac.. stuff thats slung at me every day by the zealots. keep it up
"Took 'em decades to perfect one button" i don't know.. i find those standard mice very uncomfortable, and very poorly functional. i often find the mouse chord twists and when it rests agains the mouse, you can't even click down.. it 'jams' too easily. horizon: i cna't see how using windows with one button is any different than mac os. you double click to activate something (and you can even set it to single click to activate), single
drives me crazy that i don't have a scroll wheel on macs. my logitech and microsoft mice work fine when i plug them into a mac and use the wheel - but without it i'm lost. i go to scroll and its not there. i'm with the rest of you guys .. my home mouse even has that 'joystick' style scroll wheel. for a company all about the latest in interfacing, i'm suprised with these crappy one button optical apple mice
you just made my day. halarious, brad.. thank you
