I liked it.

I just saw a bit on CNN today about illegal immigrants. It said that 3/4 of them are unskilled and use more in government services than they pay in taxes, to the tune of 10 billion a year and that is federal only. Sorry I don't have any links for you. I haven't read up on this subject since school and the WWW only had about 10,000 page back then.
I do not think the ratio of ten peaceful Muslims in the west, to every one violent Muslim in the Muslim world is quite accurate. Well, there are something like 850 million Muslims in India and Asia and add that to what ever the number is for western (and other) countries. Then compare that number to the
I was looking for some info on this and came across this Link . Yes, I noticed the source, just passing it on.
I am surprised to see that the libertarian party is using Tanner's argument for their position. It seems to have a crucial weakness. All of the statistics that are cited do not distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants. I did a debate on this subject a long time ago in college and I am pretty sure that those statistics are about legal immigrants so they don't support an argument for an open border policy.
"I wish I could make a living at being a hermit." That's my goal in life.
If your family makes a habbit of going on bookstore outings together they can't be all that bad. Sounds quite nice actually...
Same old, same old. On both sides.
I agree with you Gideon, but then I also agree with the statement "We get exactly the government we deserve" (I don't remember exactly how it goes or who said it).
Both sides lie and decieve. Neither party can claim the moral high ground.
No argument there. But have you read them. Yes, I have been reading them since I was a teen and I love them. I know I am a better person for having read them and I think that this is also true for most people.
I am certainly rooting for them.
Ock, you expressed my view on the subject better than I could have. Thank you. Gideon, if more Christians were like you I wouldn't cringe (internally) everytime someone tried to "turn me on" to "God".
Ock, I wish this site had pm's but it doesn't. Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] so I can email you back?
Ock, this is about politics, common sense is irrelevant. Just like i didnt really give a damn that Clinton got his pee-pee sucked, i was concerned when he out and out lied about it. Lieing in politics is such a non-issue. ALL pol
lol
Gideon, some people are just stupid. I know that is an obvious statement to make but it's one that we often have to remind ourselves of in order to understand where some people are coming from. The reason that we forget this and are continually puzzled by some people is because of our own self absorbtion. whole books wou
iran's theocracy is nowhere near as dangerous as north korea's justplaincrazy. I am going to have to disagree with you on this one kingbee. Religious fundamentalism in control of a government is as scary as it gets. Wait a sec...OUR government is being run by a religious fundamentalist...<
I certainly hope the war on drugs ends in my lifetime.
We would also make them pay restitution to their victims for the damage they've caused, including property loss, medical costs, pain, and suffering. I agree with most of the posistions but I am wary of this one. If someone has just gotten out of prison they most likely have little ability to pay for all
Try "The Things They Carried". It's the only book I have read by him and it changed how I look at writting more than any other work I have read.
Good post Ock.
I read that book when I was a young teen. I think that I am going to read it again. Ock, have you read anything by Tim O'Brien?
Great picture!
