You can find out your alignment from the "Stats" button in the Empire screen (the one with all the sliders). Click on the "Society" button to find out your alignment. Alignment changes are kind of strange, but a good thing to remember is if you get the PQ event, you'll probably change your alignment +10 or -10, depending on what you choose. Other events don't give such a drastic change in alignment, although Matthew Downie of the Fellowship of the Ring has been testing different events

bonscott, If you're interested in empires, I suggest you check out the threads over in the Empire forum. You can find out who's active and who's not over there. :) Of course, you could just join the Galactic Guardians and save yourself the trouble! LOL http://guardians.galciv.org
Stargates aren't wormholes. Stargates just fold space to let ships travel between point A and point B. They aren't faster than hyperdrive. They're not instantaneous.
Not sure this was noticed...Brad came up with this universe and this was his quote. :)
The Diplomats are offering a fine forum for everyone in the Metaverse to participate in. For those of you interested in registering at this forum, we'd like to ask that you register under your GalCiv nickname. It makes it much easier for us to get you the proper permissions to view the private forums that are available. Do you have an empire and need a private forum? Just register at the Senate Halls and let Alex, Slothrop, Mindshock, or myself know and we'll set you right up!
How about the Diplomats? Have you guys contacted everybody yet?
We're still missing a few. I'd really like to hear from Mortis494, rbloom, bfwebster, Folaoke, and Omni 11. They're submitting games (well, most of them!) so I know they're out there... Please contact me at and visit us at the Guardians' thread in the Empires Forum. :)
Welcome back, bonscott! :)
LOL I thought that sounded familiar! :HOT:
This wasn't meant as a recruiting post...I just haven't heard from some of these members yet and would like to hear from them. :)
There is an explanation of the ranks here: http://guardians.galciv.org/faqrank.html
Hello! Thank you all for joining the Galactic Guardians. I would like to invite all of you who haven't yet registered at our private forum to please visit this http://diplomats.galciv.org/forum/index.php and register. When you do, I'll set you up to see our private forum, only visible to Galactic Guardians. We have lots of things going on over there and we'd like to see all our members drop in and say hi! If you have any questions at all or are unsure you want to register at the forum please nas
Thanks, Cari...you beat me to it! :) Glad you got set up, Athilla! Join the Galactic Guardians! Info at this http://guardians.galciv.org
And then the first thing you need to do is upgrade your version of the game!!! Scores of 32 and 237 are quite outdated now!
How do you scrap ships.
In the little ship information display, you can just click the red X button, or you can open up their information screen and click the appropriate button. http://guardians.galciv.org/images/helpscreenshot.jpg In this screenshot, it's the little red X button just to the right of the Moves 4/4 display. Well...it depends on how you're travelling. If you're taking US 460, yes. If you're going Interstate, probably not. I-81 doesn't go anywhere close to the Eastern part of the state, but does connect to I-64 which does.
LOL Actually, it's a pretty cool city. :)
but why would anyone want to stay in Roanoke?
LOL Well, we have a really neat neon star on one of our mountains! :D
ConqueringWolf, Welcome to the Metaverse! I think you'll find the game fun and challenging. A couple of key things to watch for: You don't have to build everything! This is one of the most important things to learn in this game. Important things to build are Soil Enhancement, Habitat Improvement and Entertainment Network in the early game. These will increase the capabilities of your planets to hold more population, thus give you more tax income. Morale is extremely im
If it's actually sending the data, but it has a duplicate GameID, it wouldn't be accepted by the database
Cari, One of the members of my empire has had this problem. Have you heard from Droid5150 about this, yet? I asked him to send you his endgamesave.
'Hello' to Barry. I've at least driven through Roanoke.
It's funny...a lot of people have been through Roanoke...most people just don't stay! LOL Nice to meet you, David! :)
The best invasion tactic to use that is pretty cheap, gives a good advantage, and doesn't wipe out a planet is Gas Warfare. I use it to take heavily defended planets or when I don't have enough troops to do the trick conventionally. You'll still have a drop in quality, but usually not very bad (certainly not Mass Drivers or Core Detonation!) A good way to get transports for invasion is to trade the AI for theirs. I do this all the time. The AI is usually stingy about trading techs for t
The goal is to make the game as enjoyable as possible to the widest possible audience.
I, for one, am enjoying the game immensely, changes and all. You guys have obviously been very busy with other projects, but most of us really appreciate your dedication to this game, long after most other companies would have stopped. Thanks...and I'm really looking forward to Political Machine and GalCiv 2!! :)
Thanks for all your input guys.
Anytime! I hope you can get back to loving the game again...it really is a great game! :)
Hey, congrats Bill! Enjoy your empire! :)
elkabong, If you're truly serious about never playing the game again under the current build, my suggestion would be to completely uninstall GalCiv, reinstall using your CD and then Stardock asking for the build you last had fun with. I don't think it was ever Stardock's intention to ruin the game by making the changes to it. But by now means should you completely abandon the game in it's current form if you loved it before! I'm sure if you ask Stardock nicely
