I was going to do that in this last game, but My one big planet had a smaller planet with it, and adding population would have sent it's morale into the toilet.

On your question, Ray, I believe I had 102 techs at the hour of Victory. I wasn't going to wait around just to research techs. I do, however, research the shortest time techs when I am getting to the end. I'll even research Stellar Cartography, which I never research unless I am on a larger map. A couple more games and I will hopefully get there, but sometimes the scoring is just not understandable. I did dl your scoring breakdown in the strategies section, though, and that is very helpful. I've turned off all the victory conditions now so I can only win by mil vic. BTW, what happened with the Fellowship? You let GROSS squeak past you today. I got to go over there and congratulate them.

I had a similar thing happen with the Torians the other day, but I checked the planet and it said it was controlled by the Torian Federation. I looked all around for the other Torians and they weren't anywhere to be found. :notsure:

Sometimes I will just build colony ships (they're faster to build than transports) and take half or more of the population and flush them into the void (decommission the colony ship). Eventually, if you're building transports you can have an awful lot of your income going into maintaining them. If I do have a lot of unneeded transports around, I sometimes give them to the minors who are at war with someone. I have yet to see them use them properly though. Don't know if anyone else has this "problem", or if it has been reported anywhere. For the I-League description it says "String not found". I tried reloading the bonus pak and it didn't make any difference.

I'd also like to see more upgrade pics for starbases. I would like to be able to look at a starbase and know if I need more factories or whatever. Also, I think that starbases should specialize in something, like economics, culture, factories or military base. I doubt there would be that big a draw for the Waterpark at a big military installation. I would also like to see morale boosters for planets in the sector when you put in things like the Waterpark.

BTW, I just replayed the game from my last save (about a year before the end) and went for Cultural Victory. My Mpts doubled and my Metaverse score went up 2400 points more than it did with the Tech Victory! :D

Thanks, I'll never go for tech again. I've only been playing for around a month, maybe a little more so I don't think they would have degraded that much, would they?

I have a question about scoring, too. I just finished a Gigantic game. I did the tech victory, and it said I had 6500 and some Mpts. I thought that was bad enough for a game that took 11 or 12 days to finish. But to make matters worse, my Metaverse score only went up about 1000 points! >:( Does tech victory suck, or what gives? I could have done the culture victory, which has given me a lot more points, as I was already there, but decided to try tech for once. That's the last time I do that!

Well, I went to Loyola, and since it is one of those poor little Catholic schools with no football team I have to support SOMEBODY. So, whatever state I am living in at the time gets my vote. Used to be Miami, then LSU, and now Michigan. :)

Gee! I think this is more like the GROSS thread. Where are all the MWC'ers? I am almost afraid to look at Metaverse, 'cause I know we are getting our hats handed to us. Also, on Dark Assassin's idea on alliances, why not a choice of types of alliances, ergo, trade, military, research, tech sharing, maybe some others people could think of.

I don't know if anyone has covered this since I haven't had time to read through every message. I'd like to see a mini map come up in the planet screen so I'd know where the planet is when I'm trying to decide what to build there. This is especially the case at the beginning of each turn when you have a lot of planets finishing production.

Maybe that's the ticket... play at the easy levels just to get the points, but then I don't enjoy the game at easier levels. Right now I'm up to "tough" in my current game (everyone set to Intelligent). I just completely kicked the Arcean's butt and took all but one of their planets.
