Start11 runs most things inside explorer and this will be where activation checks and update checks take place. The only other processes running for Start11 run at much higher user rights which would be poor choices for this. Almost all the Stardock apps work like this and always have done. As for the URL itself, I am unsure why it would be trying to go there unless thats a check for internet query as it should be hitting SD servers only. I will ask someone who will
Just for Information: The last Windows Update from yesterday messed everything in my Multimonitor setup with Start 11, I was not getting any icons on the Start11 taskbar, everything was getting slow and frozen, no matter how many times I restarted Explorer, the Start 11 service and the app. In the end I had to uninstall, reboot and install Start 11 to get back in order. Having lost 2 hours of work, from now on I will be always re-install Sta
Okay, but can you give a more detailed explaination, please? Also, what is the issue that Groupy 1 had? I am a fairly experienced software developer (20+ years) with a fair bit of experience in QA and have dabbled with the Windows API.
Sure. The same list for alt tab is also used by the taskbar and the virtual desktops but of course in slightly different ways. You end up with windows pinned to all deskto
This has not changed as it isn't a bug. This is a limitation on how Windows works. Groupy 1 worked differently but this caused another issue. Basically you can have one issue or another, but the Groupy 1 issue would also cause problems with other Groupy 2 features (combined taskbar buttons) so it has to work as it does. The only solution would be to replace alt-tab entirely.
Are you running in a window or fullscreen?
When does the lag happen? This isn't normal for Start11 and we would be keen to resolve it.
I love the revival of the vertical task bar, but also observe some glitches. The most annyoing one: for some applications, when I hover over the icon in the task bar, the ribbon with thumbnails of the windows of this application don't appear. Even worse, sometimes the thumbnails of another application (adjacent to the one I am hovering over) are shown!! This video demonstrates the problem: <a href="https://na
Thats certainly not normal. Do you perhaps have some sort of tool which is removing services from startup to 'optimize' things?
Does the groupy config window always look black or only when things start to act oddly? That looks like some sort of resource leak.
I think this is due to it being a universal app. We are loading those icons directly rather than worrying what shortcut opened them (typically they do not have traditional shortcuts) We will look to see if we can extend it to support this in the next update for you. Thanks for letting us know.
Quoting hansangb, reply 5 Ah OK. I tried it a while back and it didn't have the capability. The promotional email sent out today had a picture with the taskbar on the left. Which is the deal breaker deal for me. Will give it a whirl. Thanks. <br
Did you use anything else that offered glass effects? I saw a report of a problem with some windhawk mod before that caused the OS to tell WindowFX the DWM was off. This would have a similar effect on WB.
Those are Windows dialogs so I would suggest an OS change. Microsoft had been looking into improving dark mode as some dialogs did not support them (OS ones). It may be they have rolled this back or for compatibility only enable it on supporting apps. I am also assuming you are not using a tool that 'improves' dark mode as it may be that has changed. What version of Windows are you using exactly?
Is your S11 taskbar set to combined more or uncombined?
Neither option works. ‘basj’ already figured this out on November 04 2025. I don't understand why this still hasn't been fixed in the current version? Best regards, Lutz
Do you have the option enabled in Start11 (configure menu button on bottom of config window, scroll down to advanced) called website links. I just checked here and images were obtained for
How are you doing the pin? From Start11 menu itself or from edge?
Do you ever change scaling factor on your PC or attach / detach other monitors?
also what is your refresh rate in OS set to?
What version of Start11 are you using as this should not be the case?
Unfortunately OpenShell does not use the theme apis in the same way Windows 7 or Start11 do. This causes issues like this.
Are you using the OS taskbar on a secondary or a DisplayFusion one? Start11 should let you centre both the start button and app buttons on secondary displays. What build of Windows are you using?
Hey Sean, no has nothing to do with the mouse, I have two identical Logi Trackballs, one is used with this software one is used on a work computer. I can swap them same result. It is only noticeable on the machine that it is not connected to, on the primary where it is physically connected the scroll works fine, but when I go to a KVM machine that is where the scroll has issues. The specs of your setup would be useful too.
