No I didn't read that specific article, but it's been discussed in Denmark in the media, and of course at my work too. We had a good laugh I won't post such information here. Or anywhere...

Amazing, I've had 50.000 downloads in just 4 months. That IconPackage did the trick with over 10.000 downloads. And in that time I've been ripped twice here. Aarrgh! Do your own work, respect the authors who put a lot ( a LOT) of time into creating skins, walls and icons. There's no magic button in Photoshop to make something nice, you need to know the program and take the time needed to do it. Enough said. Thanks go out to everyone who downloaded my stuff from WC. Recently I lured in the WindowFX folder, found some bitmaps and some files with a wbd extension, I don't know how to make them on your own. I think WindowFX should work different, more like Y'z Shadow. Instead of using bitmaps, the user should decide what size the shadow has directly from the application without the need of bitmaps. Another feature in Y'z Shadow I really like is the opportunity to apply a shadow to the taskbar, that looks really nice, especially if you - like I

I'm anxious to see how well the new junk mail system will perform. Hopefully less spam. I have a Hotmail account I use when I buy stuff of the Internet or sign up for some crap. No good for personal stuff. Microsoft should drop those blue and yellow colors, they're so ugly and out of date. They need to make it look more tempered and stylish. Just my oppinion.

I agree with Stumpy. Oh and before I forget, you just can't use my icons...ask nice first That goes for the rest of you too! (The bitter man, that has been ripped twice in 4 months).

I don't have a solution, but I think I know what the problem is. DesktopX is a program running on top of the dekstop. When you hit win+d it hides DesktopX too (show desktop). You'll get used to this until the Stardock programmers comes up with something, if possible. Just use win+m, alt+tab, the taskbar or ObjectDock instead of win+d. Hey another thing that would be great: what if DesktopX could change the desktop picture say once per 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours e

Check my submissions by clicking my name. There's a couple you could use. I don't think you'll find a better eMule icon than mine at the moment.

"Ich denke nicht, dass Du wegen der 2-3 Idioten WC verlassen solltest. Die Skin ist wirklich gut" means "I don't think, that because of the 2-3 idiots, you should leave WinCustomize. The skin is relly good." Learning German in school actually did come in handy one day

Well we're luckily not all alike. I don't personaly think The first look of Windows XP is pretty. Powerful blue windows and yellow icons...yuck. More specifically what I'm referring to is the explorer icon on the taskbar. You can change that with reshacking.

I think you're right about the future, the road Longhorn is taking is doubtful in some ways. I've tried a couple of Linux distro's and haven't been overwelmed by them, Mac might be an alternative, I use Mac everyday at work, but I feel more comfortable with my PC at home. If Apple could just port Mac OSX to x86 architecture. There's been some stories about this recently at osnews.com. It's possible and should even be quite easy for Apple to do so. Drivers need to be written, but that shouldn't t

BakerStreet, I really haven't thought of that when posting. You are most likely right, you are entering a license agreement. Already I think it's unattractive, especially for regular users who only uses their computer to play solitaire, check mail and surf the internet. There's only a small part willing and interested in exploring the possibilities of OS'es and programs. Such as myself, if I mess it up, I kn

I agree with much of what you say, this thread isn't in the "right spirit" of the site. I just thought people here could be interested in it anyway, we like to modify our system, right? I know for sure Apple is against skinning, they forced skinners - who created Aqua skins for Kaleidoscope for Mac OS9 - to take them of the skin sites around the net. MS and Apple may not want us to change things in their respectful OS'es, but when you've purchased anything whether it's software or a piece of clo

Dangerous it is, no doubt about it, it could easily go wrong. I don't expect people to go and try it out, most people would propably just go ? and wonder what the heck I'm babling about. The thread is targeted at more experienced Windows users. I do warn about it.

I use IconPackager but it won't change the icons on the taskbar on my pc. IconPackager has some glitches too, often in the Save as dialog box where the original Windows icons show anyway. By editing shell32.dll you can make this annoyance go away. It shouldn't be a problem with my pc - I formatted a week ago and installed everything from scratch.

I've seen quite a few screenshots with explorer.exe running, but they didn't have the ugly yellow icon as we know. I thought it would be nice to know how to change the system icons the hardcore way by editing dll's and executables. I did a Google search and found this site: http://ofg.ganai.com/dllhacking.html It's a tutorial on how to edit the files, it has a link to a free program to use for the subject. I've stumbled over another site which might be very interesting for all the Mac lovers who

I experience sort of the same thing. Don't know what causes it though, but the startbar behaves weird on startup. The start-button image doesn't load properly and if fonts are included in the skin they are not activated on startup (i.e. Systronic.) I have to re-load the skin to make it work again. I use XP.
