Great thread. Thanks Wyndstar. I had just realised this game was complex, but you have shown me just how deep it is. So many choices now. One thing I have realised, is that everything in the game works on a percentage basis, so specialization is the best way to go with everything.

As I see it. there are only two possible outcomes in Iraq. After the Civil war. the Sheites will win and set up a fundamentalist Moslum State. similar to Iran and probably allied to Iran. Or. During the fighting, a strong military leader will emerge, similar to Sadam and he will set up a military dictatorship, similar to Sadam and probably backed by America. similar trick is to get someone else to pay you to declare peace on someone you are at war with. Note, you can declare peace with them even though the initial 8 turns of war hostility has not passed, so you can't talk to the AI you are at war with directly. This is the best way to start and stop wars in the same turn. That is a brilliant idea. I must try it. Thanks.

. I haven't seen an AI ever pursue a real culture war strategy. Occasionally they throw a starbase out but I haven't seen them pull it for a major strategy They scatter influence star bases randomly around the Galaxy. Very annoying, but they don't have any effect

When you get three or four people in the Diplos who get dump a game approaching half a million points, it makes the little people's efforts a little futile in the race for top Empire. Unless you have people like that, you will never catch them.

When you save a game in order to quit, I would like some visual indication of how the save is progressing and when it is finished. Several times after a quicksave, I have quit the game before the save is complete and locked up the computer. Very annoying. Equally annoying, is having to watch the 'activity light' on the computer, before quitting. It always gives an extra couple of blips, just when you think it has finished.

Dang. I thought he was the Easter Bunny. That had explained where all my little chocolate easter eggs came from--it was his miniaturization bonus. Clearly a Hitler clone must be on the staff of Stardock and has programmed a series of creepy Easter eggs into the game. Who can find them ? Who is he ? How has ne concealed his identity ? Is this game his practice run for the Fourth Reich... is space ?

I completed my first metaverse game. It asked if I wanted to post to the Metaverse....Yes. Asked to log on...Did it. Said it was posting the game. Then got the error message saying it was not possible to post it. Tried yesterday and today. Is the Metaverse down?

Just completed my first metaverse game under DA. I get asked if I want to post the score to the Metaverse. Then the message, connecting to the Metaverse. Then I log on. Then I get the message " unable to post to the Metaverse. Do want to try again ?" I have tried several times. No luck.

This is all too complicated for me. At present I am playing a game without the patch. I am putting no defence on my ships because it seemed to have no effect and the AI was not using it. After the patch is defence worth bothering with ? A simple yes or no would be good.

I do hope these changes will make the AI start using defence on it's ships. At present, because defence is totally useless, I never bother researching any of it. It is much better to go for the maximum attack possible. The AI never uses it, so there is no point in researching anything other than the fastest attack technology, Beam. This makes the whole research tree redundant and removes an interesting part of the game. This opiniom is based on my experiences in one game.Whi
