I seldom finish a game. When it is obvious that I am going to win, I start another. I cannot be bothered to laboriously invade the remaining enemy planets, one at a time. Waiting for an endless stream of ships to cross the whole Galaxy. The one exception, is a Civilization that has given me a hard time, early in the game. I enjoy totally exterminating them. I usually play on giga

Embird, PhadeDarken and any other current or former members should not let this opportunity slip by. I am not joining any Empire. I am a different person to the one who joined BSG. I prefer to work out how to play the game for myself and to work out my own tactics for different set ups. That is the main enjoyment for me. I do not want the tactics, methods, handed to me on a plate. I also do not want to be depressed by seeing how cle

Thanks. I needed reassuring. I was too impatient. It does work. It has been a year since I played the game. The medals etc. are misleading, I inherited them. Sorry about the double post...same excuse

When I try to use ctrl-n to set up a new game, the whole computer locks up. Is this normal, or do I have a problem? I can get out of it using ctrl-alt=del, but it takes several attempts.

The full version of Vista casts $700 in Australia. This is getting ridiculous. I can buy a low end computer for this. On top of that, I am told that games run much slower, even with a high spec machine. There does not seem to be any alternative. I had thought of a Linux machine for email and web browsing and a Playstation for games. My wife creats machine embroidery designs and her software will not run on Linux, so that is out. It is very annoying. Ther

PhadeDarken. I think the Empire is defunct. The Cylons caught up with us. I believe I am the only survivor. Now adrift in the vastness of space.

Relating to upgrades. I had a constuctor being built with a speed of 16. I designed another with speed of 30. Then used the Governor to update all the production planets. The speed 17 one remained there. The speed 30 one appeared below it. The star ports were still producing the speed 16. This is with the Beta DA.

dsjdsj. Try playing as the YOR. They get a small economy bonus which will help with cash. They also get ION drive and +25 miniturization which will help with colony ship speed, and +20 military production which will help with..err..military production. Research speed improvements and sensors. Sensors will alow you to build survey ships to find cash in space. A real life saver. When setting up, choose +30 economy and moral boosting picks. These will help with cash flo

Hello guys. Thanks for the invite to join your empire. I am not submitting games at the moment. Too busy play testing the Beta of DA, For anyone who has not tried it, it is great. Several new features that are important. They have also tried to nerf some of the cheese tactics that get the high scores.

The population will not have actually disappeared. They are just so pissed with high taxation, that they have stopped paying. The Population figure just shows the number of tax payers.

I honestly don't think Stardock are interested in the metaverse. It is just a drain on their resouces and they would rather put the effort into new games. One possible solution...if there is enough interest, would be for a group to set up their own Metaverse. You would need someone with deep pockets to host it.

I agree with Mysticmind. I think I will give up chasing scores. From now on, I am going to see how quickly I can win. I think the speed of victory should feature more in Metaverse scoring. In my last game, after I had the game won, I spent at least as much time building the score, preservimg one Alien Planet, as I did getting to the point where I could end the game the next turn. I boosted the score from about 30K to 110K.

As long as you don't have a web cam and put a picture up on the Core I wouldn't want to thin our ranks with a spate of heart attacks.

Suicidal and obscene were intended to be nearly impossible. Not a level that some people play exclusively. Getting rid of ctrl-N and making all games set up for the Metaverse count, whether you finish them or not, would restore these two levels to their intended difficulty.
