Sounds like a system I'd be sending a colony ship with 40 mil pop to! Start with low population and get Soil Enh. and Hab Improv. quick! Watch the pop grow like rabbits in a box!!
The real cool thing, was the +33% PQ event I got when I dropped 100m colonists there. awsumore :CONGRAT: Party at Wagner's place!!!!

If the empire story line is what is important, then your options are many (mine has a unique story behind it). If your looking to be a small fish in a big pond, then your choices are.....more limited :P :D

Your last score was not really that bad, and a new system might be a lot more fun. But either way, try to find tune your tech trades instead of buying ships for cash. I am a real skin flint in trades, I try to never give the AI any cash. This is how I fine tune it (on crippling). I put all my techs (except diplo boost techs) on the block, and try for 100-200BC for as many months as I can get. Usually in the 20-30 month range. Then I see if I can pull any techs off the list and still kee

As for using terror stars, I can see where they would have their uses, but Ihave only built 2 in all my games, and they were culture terror stars. I have never blown a system up. In that game, they proved to be a waste of time and money. By the time they got to the next target system, I had the AI beaten anyway and didn't really need them. (didn't turn them into terror stars until after they had finished their culture bombing) I am sure, that if your facing a system that mil

I think (not 100% sure) that the increase in scoring you get from the added population from a culture flip is worth more than any bonus you get from a military confrontation. However, I find a total culture game a bore. If I need to get a foot hold against an empire that is far away from my core planets, then I will culture my way in. On average tho, I would guesstimate that I conquer about 25%-35% of the AI planets by culture. I like the battles. :)
- if I change social/industrial/research rates, and then I move on the research panel, it doesn't update the month remaining;if I go back to the economic panel, then back again to research panel, it shows the correct one.
Which is why what I change the sliders, I click on the planet button (no screen change) then the tech tab, so it updates without bouncing back and forth.

I can appreciate what your saying. I only have the bare min 128 ram (even tho I have 1700mhz processor), and it takes my computer a good 30-45 sec to load a new game. I just don't find it that annoying. IF given the option to turn it off, I would. But as it is now, I have the time to make sure my coffee cup is full before commiting mass galatical genocide. :D

I research 34 more techs, and got most of my resource starbases up to 53% mining ability (still, no other SB upgrades like defence, production, ect.) I let the tech tree drive my settings. I had spending at about 50%, taxes at about 40% for the most part. I would set the tech slider to whatever level I could to get the next tech the next turn. When I was not able to complete a tech in one turn, I would set it at 5% or 10% and concentrate on social and military (constructors only).

Well, this is interesting. I will preface my action by pseudo quoting the metaverse rule regarding a re-submitted game. it goes something like "hey, I think I can do better, so i will try and resubmit". So that is what I am going to do with my last game. Instead of conquering the last Yor planet with forces, I am going to wait until I culture flip it (not using any culture bombnig SBs), and concentrate on getting some more techs. Should help the anemic score a bit. You ha

10. If your wanting to view your planets by system, this is easy. when you bring up the planet list, you see all theplanets in whatever order the sort is set to. When I want to do a system by system search, I like to start with Sol (easy to remember the starting point. Click on Earth to bring up the planet screen. Then click on the world icon between the arrows at the bottom-center of the planet screen, and the right side list switches to the system list instead ofthe planet list. Check ou

Kewl. As for the anomaly question, this was a large galaxy, and since I killed both the torian and drengin survey ships early, plus a great planet placement, that many anomalies sounds about right. I had 4 survey ships, plus the original hero running all over the place grabbing a shit-load of anomalies. With a few well placed scouts, drones, and a couple of corvettes, I was able to keep all the other races from tresspassing. Then the first UP vote came up, and it was for sector owner

Well, I see from my latest score, it is still a lot more beneficial to hold out and get more techs. I did get a lucky draw, and was able to finish Aug 2187 on a large/crippling. Guess the scoring bonus for an early finish is not all dat. Small rewards for a military hat-trick.

Lets narrow it down, and leave the colonization event on the side for now, and just use the empire stats, which we shall assume (dangerous) that includes the tech bonuses. A weapons bonus of 81% is 7.29. So it would appear the facilities are indeed working, but the tech bonuses, anomaly bonuses, and the colonization events don't. Bug hunters inc.? edit in: to keep with the current tradition...... Care to join the Viraxian empire? :D [Message Edited]
Where are you getting "0.25" from? even with just the tech bonuses, the weapons bonus would be 50% not 25%.
what about the tech bonuses then? [Message Edited]

21 Replies 6,476 Views

You mean it could be even worse? :O lol, I had not even thought about the anomaly boosts. Considering the numbers from the stats page, I think they include the tech bonuses. From the stats page: Weapons: 81% Defence: 65% HP: 35%
Attack of 9 * 0.25 = 2.25 rounds down to 2. Defence of 4 * 0.25 = 1 rounds down to 1. Which is the difference between ship A and B.
Nice cross edit posting. lol Where are you getting "0.25"
