also side note, change your font, go with somehting lighter to go with the background ie. don't adjust the colour at all and let it go to white. Coloured text is perfect for only one thing: signaling people that your post should be skipped.

You're probably fully in your legal right to sell and purchase used video games (see the Wikipedia article: First-sale doctrine ), though there is confusion around this. However, Stardock is also within their rights to uphold their own EULA and deny support to those who violate it. If you're buying a used copy of the game, be sure you can get the other person's Stardock account info or don't buy it. Tribes 2 was simliar, th

4) Ongoing tribute. In GalCiv 1 you could ask people to pay you a small increment over multiple weeks. This could be part of negotiated deals (i.e., I'll give you Stellar Cartography for 2bc per turn for 20 turns). At times this was good, but in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. It's like lottery winners - everyone wants the one lump sum and not the grad

You could still mod the game, you just had to directly edit files in the directory. The mods folder just lets you keep a clean install. I'm thinking the poster may be lamenting the lack of scripting or the number of hard-coded options. Outdated video drivers can cause the issue too, even if they don't exhibit it on the unpatched version. Don't generally have to reboot after install on Linux

Did you go to this website and follow the directions to a T ? The only concievable way that this game might work is if you get off the 2002 drivers and up to some modern ones.

Ummmm. You can be an good civ, but with massive amounts of ships. I don't see any restriction on that. The reason that everyone attacks the evil is simple -- they're evil. Evil civs get bonuses, especially towards military power, so they need to be balanced out some way. And they're evil. The Ferengi aren't evil, they're neutral/greedy. They don't go tossing their citizens into death furnaces when fuel is low, but they don't stick their neck

In the latest Beta, everyone went nuts against me when I played the Yor. Out of six AI races, only one had neutral relations towards me and the rest were negative. I have no idea how I'm going to beat it, the Altarians are thwomping me.

Your video chip reads like its a Radeon 7000 equivalent, and your memory is too small. I'm telling you, it's not unexpected that this game won't work at all. Run Smart Exception. It's in the Free Stuff section of Stardock Central. Debug.err won't be useful.

Install the game without movies? You'd have to do it through SDC, but it's not that hard. Or you could just try deleting (or renaming) the movies folder inside the Galciv2 directory.

What's the point of this threaad, exactly? I mean, are you doing a survey of people who play TBS games or do you like reading about hardware? =o I've got one computer sitting here that's a 300mhz P2 with a 3GB harddrive and a borked CD drive. The monitor it's hooked up to is generally off, but it's a nice 640x480 dealie that makes a terrific headache-inducing squeel noise. Mmmm, headaches.

For whatever reason, the game overheats poorly ventilated cards like a banshee. The first diagnostic measure I'd take is to open the side of the case and point a fan in to see if that helps.

Most cheaper ATI or nVidia cards will run the game (I'm thinking ATI two generations back, the 9600s or 9800s, or nVidia/ATI one generation back) but that Intel card won't have a good time of it. There's probably nothing to fix it.

When comes the "Spelling Mod" ? In any case, I like the text. It has a light-hearted attitude to it. Everything sci-fi doesn't have to be dull statistics and dire outlooks.

the first poster has a 6200. that's still supported... it's only one generation down from the current one, even if it is the low-end of that generation. nVidia's site, as well as Guru3d's and others don't show the GO 6200 as being supported anymore, just the desktop 6200. Again, the inf hack supposedl
