I just turned off follow-autopilot-ships and set them on auto-pilot into enemy territory. But it took so long for them to get there, and then the Dreadnaughts had to wait for the Combat Transports to show up. Towards the end I started just putting massive amounts of money into destabilization in the hopes that they would flip to the I-League instead of building ships to send to their worlds.

1) You can't put a colony ship back into orbit. There usually isn't a reason to, anyway. Either you're going to colonize a planet, in which case you should go do it, or you're not, so you don't need the ship. 2) Expanded Universe was a major update they made to the game a while back. The Delux Edition certainly comes with a newer version than that. 3) I think the version number is somewhere on the options screen (the one that comes up when you hit Esc). If you download and
This was actually scattered/abundant. It was a fun game, but moving all those ships...
I played a Gigantic galaxy once. You'd be surprised how long it takes to find all the yellow stars in one of those.
You know, I could take or leave a beta (why bother with an unfinished game when there are so many finished ones I could be playing?), but I've pre-ordered a game to get a t-shirt before.
During the initial colony rush it's not a big deal, except for the colony ships built in Sol. Taking half the population from one of your new colonies just gives you two planets with about the right amount for a new colony. It's what I do for systems other than Sol.
http://www.diplomats-empire.com/writer/writer_004.htm Though you would think the library would have some information on it. Who's in charge of the library around here? Would it be possible to include the Writer, or at least a link to it? edit: Looking more closely at the website it looks like the only version available is labeled "alpha." Since that label is usually reserved for programs that are so buggy that they aren't even ready for the public to see, I thought I would i

on technology), but it was always biologically built in to every member of the hive.
I think you're getting way to into the micromanagement if you're making a chart to decide how much population to put on each planet. I just build a whole bunch of colony ships with about 50-100m on them and send them out to find planets. Remember that the higher your population, the lower your moral, and the higher your morale, the faster the population grows. Before you know it it won't matter how many you put there to start out: it'll stabilize where it's going to stabilize.
It is kind of an unfortunate title to keep at the top of the first page, though. Personally, I don't like it when a game goes fast. I want to get to know the map and the AIs. When I conquer the Drengin empire and that whole big red area turns blue I feel a sense of accomplishment at having defeated an opponent. If the Drengin space had only been Drengin space for a few minutes there wouldn't be anything special about claiming it for humanity. Then again I'm not really playin

GalCiv players are a helpful bunch, but most of the people who read this forum don't have intimate knowledge of Stardock's systems. Why don't you email your question to [email protected] ?
That's the Torian's new Omni-Defense system. Whenever you attack their homeworld, it stops the attack by shutting down your computer, then, to prevent any future attacks, it erases the game from your hard drive.
Yeah, it would be awesome if good video games stopped coming out! LOL ~SDC~
They're strong because they're friggin' space monsters. If they weren't strong they would be boring. Ditto for the pirates. If a corvette could take them out there would be no point to them. Assume that police routinely re-capture criminals all over the galaxy, and you only get notified when prisoners manage to steal a ship that's worth having the emperor of the galaxy worry about it. ~SDC~
The minor races that are in the galaxy when you start will never attack you. Don't attack them, and you'll get along great. The space monsters are supposed to be strong. ~SDC~

I would probably do the same thing, but we both already own GalCiv. When I was a new customer I would have laughed in your face if you tried to sell me a download-only version of a game for $40 when I knew I could get it on CD for $16 elsewhere. ~SDC~
I do wonder, though, why is it still $40 here when it's $16 new on Amazon? I know it's still worth the full forty, but how do you expect to sell any? And how much money is Strategy First supposed to pay you if Amazon can get it from them, sell it for $16, and make a profit? I guess they can charge whatever price they want if they're not actually paying you for the copies they sell.
Just so no one thinks I'm one of the ungrateful ones, I’d like to clarify that my post up at the top was about my reaction when I first came to this website as I was surfing around the internet deciding whether I should buy GalCiv or not. I didn’t know anything about Strategy First, and I just figured that by buying it online I could save whatever cut Best Buy takes when you get it there. Now every time someone mentions how much money Strategy First owes Stardock I feel kind of bad that I boug
I doubt there are a large number of people who are in the market for a fantasy game with magic and wizards and undead, but would refuse to buy one with demons. In fact, before I read the original post in this thread I would have said that there were zero such people. It reminds me of the people who want to ban Harry Potter for teaching kids about witchcraft. Most of them are totally outside the target audience. ~SDC~
And, as an added bonus, all the money goes to Stardock when you buy it that way. But it retail and some of the money goes to the store, some of it goes to the publisher, and Strategy First pays Stardock a tiny fraction of it when they feel like it. If you don't have a credit card there's an order form that you can use by mail. http://www.stardock.com/order.txt If you're worried about using the credit card online, remember that you should be just as worried using it at a restaraunt, w
It does count as proof of purchase. Download Stardock Central, and you should be able to enter your CD key somewhere and download the latest version of the game (expansion pack sold seperately, of course). In fact, I would recomend doing that even if you did have the CD. And of course, if you already have the game installed on your machine then you don't need the CD or download at all. And I had much the same reaction as you did when I saw the price on the website
It's probably a better idea to send all the relevant data to [email protected] than to post it here. Yesterday I emailed her a savegame that crashed, and today she replied saying she found the bug, and attached a copy of the savegame re-saved so that I could finish the game. Best customer support I could possibly imagine.
