Some techs (The ones that come after Corvet Technology. I don't know if any others are affected) don't show up when browsing the tech tree by right clicking on a tech. Corvet Technology has no techs that come after it according to the tech tree navigator. If you right click on the one immediately after Corvet Technology it says it has Corvet tech. as a prerequisite, but the later ones all show up as having no techs before or after them. ~SDC~

You both need Alliances, and you have to have Close relations. Trade routes help build relations. If you're Good, your relations with other Good empires tend to drift upward. You can also improve relations by giving them gifts. And keep your military rating up, because if you look like an easy target they'll start demanding tribute and lowering relations. ~SDC~

It doesn't show up on your side of the trade window because the other race has a monopoly on its distribution, so only they can sell its benifits. Check your stats before and after you buy it to see that you do have the benifits. I agree that there should be a list somewhere of who built what and who bought it from them. ~SDC~

Wouldn't you automatically get the best effect if you sorted the list by cost and picked the one at the bottom every time? Unless you were already more than 75% done with the most expensive one, that is. Don't you just hate it when your auto-surveying ship finds a research anomaly when you weren't paying attention and winds up getting a 25% bonus to a tech that was already on "Next turn"? I know I do. ~SDC~

I don't know if it's intended or not, but blowing up a system with a Terror Star doesn' use up a movement point, and so I was able to blow up two systems and move one space on my Terror Star's first turn. They were arranged like this ...... ....S. .ST... ...... I pressed left once and then auto-piloted to the other system, blowing them both up and moving one space all in one turn. I know other types of ships get to perform their action (attacking, upgrading starba
if you know any newbie ask if he would like to join thebeginners empire
I don't understand why anyone would want to join that empire. Surely nobody plans on staying a beginner any longer than they can help it, right? And just when your overlords started racking up some points, they would have to leave the empire! ~SDC~

Unfourtunately I won't be able to get to the my own computer until some time next weekend, so I can't double check. I'm pretty sure I know my own name and email address, though, and I copied the serial number right out of the email from Stardock. (It wouldn't make any difference that on this computer i downloaded GalCiv from SDC, and on the other computer i installed it from a retail disc, would it?) Well, from now on I'll just hold on to the EndGame saves untill I get back to my comp

i'm playing GalCiv on a different computer than I usually do, and I think something must have gone wrong when I tried to submit a game. I'm pretty sure I put in the information my information the same way it always was when I submitted it, but it didn't show up with my scores. Any ideas on what I should do? I tried submitting again. ~SDC~
The Gigantic game I submitted was cool in this scope: I had 3 planets, Altarians had 20+ ... I managed to ally with them and could sit back and watch them to achieve the victory for me!
I used to always play good so I could be friends with the Altarians and Torians until something like this happened to me. I stopped going for alliances after that game. I want to win the game, not watch the Altarians win it.

I just finished playing my second game where I spent most of the game at war with the Altarians and the Torians, who were allied. Several times after I started winning I got one of the allies would come to me asking for peace, agree to pay a large tribute for a peace treaty, and then the very next turn declare war on me again because I was still at war with their ally. Does anyone else think that this is just wrong? The AI should never agree to pay money and tech for a peace that it knows it

One time I had a couple of Torian ships parked in the same square as a planet of mine. I never saw them move there (though they might have when I wasn't paying attention.) and they never moved away. I just saw a little green 2 in the lower left corner of the square. Didn't figure out why it was there until I tried to bring a Frigate back into orbit and it instead it attacked the ships that were there. Not the same as your problem, but another star system oddity. It was also annoying, becaus

Do starbases have effect outside the sector? I was under the impression that they didn't, but then I saw two resources (+5% economy and +5% research) in a sector that had no stars in it and a fleet of AI constructors on the way to claim them, so I assume they must be usefull. Is their effect global after all? ~SDC~
