Now that's interesting. Did the new Drengin leader swear vengence on the Dringin and go to war with himself? :D ~SDC~

Antidisestablishment and it's derivatives aren't in the official dictionary, so they can't be used. ~SDC~
It's too easy if you use stuff that isn't in the dictionary. Also, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=macaronic+evisceration&spell=1 How come I can spend twenty minutes trying to come up with unusual pairs of words, getting it down to 3 with "macaronic disinterestedness," and all I have to do is throw "evisceration" in there and I get a whack? And why is that always the first thing to come to my mind when I try to think of unusual words? Bah. I do
I'm sure that someone with a page titled "Human Dissection Handbook Preview" is quite well aware of how unique he is. ;) ~SDC~
Soem of the restrictions are that both search terms must be real words according to dictionary.com (in the part of Google's results page that says "Searched the web for..." words in the online dictionary show up as links to their definitions), and the page can't be nothing more than a list of words. And if you get four results, and three of them are word lists, it still doesn't count. Tough. The trick is to think up uncomon words, keep trying untill you get very few results, and then p
I have a very "hands-off" approach to leadership. By which I mean, AntonChanning is currently doing as good a job as leader as I probably would. (Note to people from the future looking through archives of old threads: Anton's post on 1/19/2004 is the last I've heard of him.) Back when the empire forum was created I thought we should have a thread there, but from this thread's activity I figured a 2 post thread in with the thousand post monsters would just look pathetic. :notsure:
There actually was a bug a few versions back that prevented evil races from getting Large Scale Building. I don't remember what version it was exactly, but the latest is 1.20. If you're not playing that, upgrade. ~SDC~
If the player is a memeber of an Empire, then the first one is the empire logo. Basicly in an empire you just add up everybody's score and see who can get the highest total. A list of the top empires can be found here -> http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp . The other symbols are explained here -> http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/legend.asp . KEmperor beat me to it. Yeah, you could just hold your mouse over most of the medals. But oddly enough, there's no ALT text to describ
Actually, I just looked in the .tech file and saw that Hyper Trade is 80. I'm sure it was 90 when I first looked a few versions ago. You can search through your .tech files for the string "Alignment_Category" to find out which techs are alignment-specific and what the requirements is. ~SDC~
You can't really do anything with those techs, they're just stepping stones in humanity's path to omnicience/omnipotence (tech victory). If you read the full descriptions of the techs (which are just flavor) you would see that they all say that it isn't really practicle to use them for anything. (You only know how to make useless White Dwarf stars, you can't make a planet unlessy you have a planet's worth of material, it wouldn't be habitable anyway, etc.) ~SDC~
Now what I'm wondering is, does the fact that Strategy First is publishing AP mean that Stardock finally got paid all that they were owed for the retail sales of GalCiv? It seems to me that they wouldn't deal with Strategy First again if that weren't the case. Or was this issue resolved a while ago and just not mentioned where I could see it? ~SDC~
Not to mention the signature that's three times the length of the post. (All four of them) ~SDC~
Somebody else using your computer got annoyed with a buggy page and turned it off? Stuff about ActivX, Java, Scripting and whatnot is under the Security tab of the options menu. Click "Custom Level" and see if "Active Scripting" is disabled. Though I don't know why somebody would bother to turn it off in two browsers. ~SDC~
Make sure the "Show pre-release versions" option is checked. (bottom left corner of the screen under Software) ~SDC~
You can still increase the number or colonists one by one by clicking on the arrows. (Replace madly spinning the wheel with madly clicking the arrow.) Still not ideal, but better than launching the ship with four billion colonists. ~SDC~
You get both if you install it as is, but if you change the name and ID to match and it'll replace the original. Or you could edit the original to only hold 1000. ~SDC~
Cari said that the AI's strategy wouldn't be disturbed if you actually replaced the standard colony ship with the mini one. ~SDC~
I figured the intention was for you to offset the power of their Overlords by building more Overlords then them. :D ~SDC~
I was actually thinking "disband," because that's what Civ calls it, but the game asks me if I'm sure I want to "decomission" the ship, so I go with that. ;)~SDC~ [Message Edited]
'd' for "decomission." But, like this thread says, if you want to scrap a lot of them it's easier to just give them to someone who won't use them against you. ~SDC~
The victory conditions in order of decreasing score are Military, Alliance, Cultural, and Beyond Human. You might be seeing a lower score when you "dominate" because the portion of the score that depends on population depends on both your population and the alien's population. (It calculates a score for that turn, and if you have half the galaxy's population, you get half that many points. If you have 90% of the galaxy's population, you get 10% of that many points. It's just a
If the Diplomats and the Stardockians are both just Populists with different logos, why is one Stardock Certified and one not? ~SDC~

Sorry, but what about those who don't have a scroll button, like those with laptops?
This was an issue for me, but not anymore. Newer laptops now carry scroll buttons.
There you go, A Darker Tomorrow. You just need to buy a new laptop. ;)~SDC~ [Message Edited]
If the standard files aren't where you expect them to be but the game is still finding them somehow, then my guess would be that it got installed in a different directory this time, and you're still putting mods in the old directory. (SDC's default install directory is different from the retail CD's default install directory.)~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Right. Hyper Trade is 90. My bad. ~SDC~
