Greets y'all was playing my typical giga-maso uncommon, and decided to do zero culture flipping (agony!). I started with econ 30%, morale 30%, diplo 40%, good isolation and four (!!!) econ resources within range, 2 20PQ and 2 19PQ. This is, like, a cakewalk and I almost didn't play it. By mid-game I had 100% taxes and 100% expenditures and 120K+ BC in the bank. After overlords I started cranking out the ships and took out four majors handily. By then me and #5 have excalibu

I think the problem is calling a stack a "fleet". the only thing fleety is they move together. I virtually always unstack my ships and attack piece-meal. You do all the fleet management yourself, and there isn't much.
endless streams of material to the front lines
sounds alot like WWII to me.
non-tactical melee
since the fleet management is in your hands, so is the tactical situation. you might be surprised what you can acco

check out some calculations on my thread "palace magic". Basically, you need to research Cultural Maximizing and then Cultural Conquest, then build 4 starbases in *your* sector next to their sector. Improve the starbases with Cultural Maximizing and all the Palace modules. I shoot for 5 digits (20K to 40K) influence in a resistant sector that has had time to build up it's defenses. ricbayer - for what it's worth, for me it was just timing. I was starting to get the hang of maxing out the score when 1.1 came out, and with some help from y'all admirals I have begun to succeed.

Ok, now that I've started paying attention it makes less sense. I just flipped a star that had two planets after at least a year of being "under pressure" (skull icon). One of the planets was stripped, but not the other. This is statistically unlikely if the improvements were lost to an invasion, as I had postulated. I cannot agree with idea of stripping a planet due to debt. manufacturing, cultural restance, research, ship improvements, defenses etc. are a drain on economy, but ba
alignment has little real effect on your score
I beg to differ kryofx. It has an enormous difference. Set all your opponents to pure good and play purt evil, you will see a difference, I promise hehe.

Oh, I thought the influence bug he was referring to the fact that sometimes, especially after a reload, the system incorrectly calculates influence for half a dozen turns. The graph gets spikey because it does it for everybody. I thought this was a known bug

Wow Sirian, Try reading a forum for a while before trashing things. There are already way too many threads on metaverse scoring (some of which I started myself), many of which address your concerns. Keep playing, have fun, and keep posting, but please show some respect for those who came before you.

*blush* Au Contrair Timlaqor, your question is significant and its importance cannot be overstated. Overall cultural influence (sometimes still called prestigue) is a fixed number based on factors like the planets you own. It is modified by wonders, mined influence resources, bonuses, etc. You can get a rough idea of what your influence base is by watching the increase of influence that are available to trade from turn to turn. A sector's influence takes the cultural

I was reading the "frustration" thread through again, trying to glean the comments on planet stripping. What I got was a) planets are stripped through land-based conquest, not intentional action (my comment) b) planets are stripped for economic reasons c) planets are stripped as a scortched earth policy when cultural pressures indicate the planet will be lost. I have indeed noticed that some planets show the red circle icon instead of the skull 'n crossbones

I am expecting the stacked bonus to be fixed in an upcoming patch by limiting each planet to one bonus. civ 3 had a fixed seed option, which can be gotten around (i got pretty good at it) by a strategy similar to the one written above about colonizing a pq3. You use throw-away colonizers on useless planets and count the number of times it takes to get a good event. reload, burn a couple colonizers, and bingo. Really, game designers don't much bother thwarting save-reload chea

eradicus -- is that what it is doing? I assumed the planet had been taken using a ground strategy that destroyed them. I *thought* it was stupid they were building terraforming for 250 turns. Makes balancing morale impossible with 60B on a 15PQ hehe -- Space 'em all!
