Thanks everyone. OK, I've got one year left to enjoy what remains of my 30s so I should get on with it, and what better way to do that than by... skinning. Things have calmed down on the work front lately so I hope to be able to upload a few thingamajigs and maybe some whojamaflips. And quite possibly a doodad or three.

resized from 1600x1200 to 1280x960 so the messageboard wouldn't explode A remix of GT3 wallpaper, OMNI windowblinds, OMNI slides widget and a 90% finished GT3 icon package Normally I wouldn't have such a big start menu but I wanted to show the icons
I also sympathise RomanDA, I have had this problem more times than I care to remember. Occasionally I have been able to retrieve the lost script from the CurrentTheme folder, but only if I looked there immediately after the crash (ie: I didn't attempt to reload the desktop first). Nowadays I tend to make incremental saves of my widget projects in dxpack format. new_widget2.dxpack, new_widget3.dxpack, new_widget4.dxpack, etc. On a
mouse jesters? - now that conjures up quite an amusing mental image...
I used to have this problem too, only after playing a full screen directx game. When I would return to the desktop, only occasionally, my cursor would "go behind" as I came to think of it. I noticed that occasionally going back into and out of the game would restore the cursor. Sometimes, just changing my resolution would fix the problem. The only surefire way of fixing it was a reboot, no pet hamster required. Since then I have got a new sys
I have taken a quick look at the website that was linked and those cads at 50webs have definitely "borrowed" something they shouldn't. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I shall immediately let loose the dogs of war, or perhaps just send them an email or something. As Rob mentioned in his post, I did in fact get a job, skinning no less, and for the fir
Playing tennis is a hobby, not a career. People who play tennis for money are doing it for all the wrong reasons and really should not play tennis in the first place. As far as paying rent, bills, taxes, ect, there are real jobs out there. People who don't have a real job outside of playing tennis need to get off the tennis court and get a job and work, even if they can't get the job they would like to have, any job is better than none. ..
yep, the atom feed requires authentification now, I'm on it, got a working version here... need to add a couple of extra thingamajigs then it's ready to go
same problem, tried uploading a widget numerous times, with different names and differently named screenshots - no joy
I know that it is easy to use a DX coded button to open the start panel but can the button be coded to activate the DX menu at the same time? I think that is easily achieved by using something like the following in the script of the dx start button: Sub Object_OnLButtonUp(x,y,dragged) des
On restarting dx the script was gone, just gone. Away. Well, ok, not quite. There was still a script, unfortunately it was entirely empty. I have now had this happen to me on multiple occasions. Very occasionally, after making changes to a scripted object, clicking apply or ok on that object crashes dx.
Check out C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\CurrentTheme Cheers ExodusCrow, already tried that one Never mind, it's re-taught me the valuable lesson to save often <im
o dear... I was using the 2.98 pro beta without any problems for over a week. Yesterday I uninstalled it and installed the 2.99b[b].003 version available on sdc - bad move on my part. Spent more than a few hours today working on a script, I went to adjust the text properties of a seperate object, dx builder crashed. On restarting dx the script was gone, just gone. Away. Well, ok, not quite. There was still a script, unfortunately it was entire

yep, I saw that checkbox, and so I assumed it must just be a bug in the beta
finding the same thing as XX - when exported as a standalone gadget there doesn't appear to be a properties dialog so hue changing, shadows etc are unavailable as are the new widget.preferences
so far: love the new preferences dialog options - easy to understand and script really love defining the width of text objects and having it word wrap if necessary (been after that for ages) love the new system namespace properties - system.clipboard, system.CPUactivity etc having a blast with the centralized scripting features also started playing with the new object collections - object.children etc, very very handy indeed lik
I don't think that's a bug. Dxscript enables the reading or writing of the name property. The code example you have given and your description of what it does seem to be entirely consistent.
Tiggz twiddles thumbs...
any chance of getting a copy? I've emailed and posted in the beta report forum...no response so far... or just tell me to sod off so I can stop getting my hopes up, I won't mind as long as I know
I emailed you a few days ago Brad, but just in case... my widget library - http://tiggz.wincustomize.com/gallery.aspx?SID=4234&libid=34&view=1&sortby=4&sortdir=desc&p=1&advanced=0&UID=695407 it would be great to have a copy of the beta, cheers
to make a guide layer (ps) : use the polygon tool ("fill pixels"), number of sides = 12, set to "star", indent sides by 98% start in the centre and drag out horizontally with the shift key depressed
lol joeKnowledge was referring to two seperate widgets in his thread title: 1. "GT3 calendar" by yours truly 2. "w0rst Widgets Ever" by PixelPirate you guys already knew that of course, I was just clarifying...
Text objects that can wrap text. yes please
Good stuff - it's a start at least. Hopefully having the source code may provide some kind of a springboard for trying to develop a plugin of my own
