Great idea. I'll try it out on my next game. [e digicons]k1[/e]

I play a custom faction 100% of the time, but I use Magnar as the base for my favorites. I think that visual differences will be a significant benefit, but also the different equipment/summons/buildings are important to really cement that each faction is unique. I for one will always play a custom faction as that just appeals to me the most, but I love playing against the distinct factions and "knowing" what they bring to the table.
I'd say that's an issue as it makes it necessary to make changes to the vanilla objects just to make your own. Good job finding this Heavenfall. I assume you have passed the info along to Frogboy or Kael. Hopefully they'll make a change here. I can't image changing this to a long would cause that much of a memory bump. You could still store the likelihood in a short, but the accumulation of likelihoods in a long. I'll h
The original is truly one of my favorite games of all time. It is a classic. I will definitely pick this one up if for no other reason than to support a game that has turn based squad combat. :) In any case, it looks really good from the video.
I sent a pm to frogboy and kael hoping to get something, but they have been conspicuously quiet on the matter. I am certain we'll have something for the quests. I can continue this effort if we really don't get anything, but I need to think how to make it a reasonable tool without it becoming a full time job.
You could also use the faction editor to set up your race. It has a place to set the city names (separate by , no spaces). https://forums.elementalgame.com/416167
Played for a few hours last night and never had any drop. I did get to choose a vineshield from the sovereign creation screen however.
I had this happen where I was exiled to an island after entering Altar's terrain. :( Man they take trespassing seriously. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Why is the current system unfun?
Wow....most of the posts have been complaints. What a depressing thing to see after posting about several weeks of work. Some of you need to take some happy pills and get over your quibbles. You haven't even played the game yet and are already predicting doom because of a few of the changes. I say "Way to go Stardock!". A lot of work, and you have fixed many of the things that the community was asking for. Looking f
Hooray! Terrain bonuses. edit: As has been pointed out below. Terrain bonuses are not implied by the screen shot (it is a territory bonus). So don't assume like I did that the comments in the OP imply terrain bonuses. Looking good. I am anxious to see the changes in beta 2. I am guessing that we are not getting movies of Frogboy playing because it would show that we now get paths shown
Well, then ramp up the difficulty settings. That's where you should get the challenge beyond the challenge you get from the skill of your opponent on equal footing.
No, I'm not looking for a cheating AI or an opponent that has supernatural consitution. I simply like the randomness of map generation. I say, if you want to have a shard of your type right by your starting location with
Quoting Xadie, reply 6The main point of these spells is to lessen the impact of the starting position over the course of the game, so players aren't that often screwed by the map generator. I find it challenging to have a map that does not balance everything. If I am a fire mage and I have no fire shard but my enemy has 3 then I have a lot of fighting to do to get them. If balance is
I just don't think it is a good idea to have an ai that sits there waiting for the player to advance. I agree it may be the best tactical move for the computer to make, but can you imagine the outcry from people. "Tactical battles are broken. The AI just sits there." I think that when battles take place later on in the game, there are enough abilities and spells in the fights to compensate for the initial move. Or sim
I think without the ability to flee. Staying out of range of the strongest opponent is just delaying the inevitable.
Definitely agree on this one.
The plan is to support whatever the quests can do in the game. I've heard rumblings that the "elemental editor" mentioned in the xml may be released to us, so i'm waiting for more info before i sink too much time in this. However, I would like to get this out soon...before the release is the goal.
I was looking at these as well. They seem to be not triggering for some reason. I have tried making my own without success at the moment.
Agreed would be nice to have.
I actually like have strong rated monsters near my start. It makes the land that much more dangerous. And it provides a barrier of sorts from other players. It provides the early game danger, rather than it becoming a go fetch this or that, level up, etc. Magic users should be stronger early game IMO. I need to see the effects my race has on my game. I absolutely agree that we need to be able to see this at sovereign
Anyone know if Stardock is aware of the Likelihood/Liklihood bug? I'm tempted to make a mass replace of Liklihood in all the xml in FE just to see what happens and what breaks.

Agreed. We also need a way to say, "not right now, let me do this first and then I will take care of that popup".
Sean, sure let me know what you want me to look at.
