Did you make sure and check show beta and pre-release versions in impulse?
Murteas
The faction editor I'm working on has the standard Color Picker from windows which lets you choose a pre-defined color or make your own. Then takes the RGBA from the color picker and puts in the xml.
Which interview was this? G4? I hope we get the tool, despite my efforts in my own faction editor, I would love to have something from the developers, it will be much more usable/interesting.
Yeah, I definitely will go with tabs as I continue to work on this. It will be too unwieldy otherwise. RavenX, I certainly hope so, I would like nothing more than to have this tool made obsolete by SD produced tools. :) But it is my small contribution to the community.

Reduced 18%Original 1836 x 2376
Icepick - How did you generate the XSD? Just using the coreRaces.xml and having VS 2010 generate it? I am working on a faction editor, so this could definitely be useful for me.
Thanks for the encouragement. I can see now why they didn't continue to make a UI for it. There are a ton of options. I haven't even added in the racial bonuses yet and I am already having scrollbars all over the place. In any case, I'll get something out and see what suggestions people have and then go back and edit and make it better.
I'm working on a faction editor. Still in the pre-release stages, but hopefully this will help out a few people that are anxious about editing xml. You can see a screenshot here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390184

Great ideas. This would add a lot to the quests.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 2It would be great if someone could gather this stuff together. I'll be writing this stuff from the airplane on the way to G4. At G4, I will be demoing the internal version of the game which looks somewhat different from the public beta (different UI). Ok, here's the beginnings of the thread to gather it all up: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390029
Great. &nb

I'm going to try to reinstall everything before I start crying, though. Props on how amazingly awesome Impulse:Reactor and the Mod upload/download looks, though. I was taken aback by how delightfully Elementalesque it all looked when I opened it up. It helps that I have an awesome a
I have been playing around with the tile editor trying to make a circle out of the dungeon quarter circle pieces in misc. and I noticed that the rotate z & rotate y sliders are rotating around the same axis (the y axis). Anyone else run into this? Having fun in any case.
It's been moved to the workshop (i.e. modding area). We don't know precisely how it is going to work, but rest assured, you will all be able to fall to my mighty frogs of doom. [e digicons]:frogboy:[/e] [e digicons];P[/e]
I believe that you will have a nice tool provided by Stardock to create a new faction. This will allow you to define the various strengths/weaknesses of the faction as well as what tech tree they use (think GalCiv 2). While I want to have some way to ensure that I can't completely wreck the balance with my faction, I like the fact that I can create my faction out of the game and get it just right then use it as I want in the game. Or even bette
Then the question is, how much are you guys willing to sacrifice for that? Do any of you remember how many updates we do to our games when they're new? GalCiv had like 5 updates in the first month. Not bug fixes mind you but new stuff. Sins of a Solar Empire had several in its first few months. I can tell you right now, Elemental will likely get at least a DOZEN updates in its first 6 months out. You guys have gr
Interesting. I am a pc gamer at heart, but I own a PS3. I had Unreal Tournament 3 for the ps3 and it did have the keyboard and mouse enabled for the PS3, it was great. I loved it. I thought to myself, you know what if all the consoles enabled keyboard and mouse and started adding strategy games, then I might have to make the console my main gaming platform. However, they haven't done it and who know if they ever will.
Quick Question: Will the AI try to offer the player DC as part of a trade. i.e. AI - "Hey there buddy, I'll give 15000 DC if you just hand over your super death sword elite squad of death. What do you say?" Me - "No way, but I'll give you 1000 DC for your Archers of Pain." AI - "Okay!"

AI in general, and game AI specifically really intrigues me, I would be really interested in hearing how you go about designing the AI system for a game like Elemental. I realize that we'll see some of the parts in the XML and modding, but I'd like to understand more about the design of the entire AI system. Is there any chance that you would be interested in writing a Post-Mortem about AI design for Elemental or for 4x strategy games in general. I realize
How do you withdraw from battle? Only the attacker can do i assume, and if so, do you escape to the cloudy area at the side of the map?
It's not a universal problem. I play with both AA and advanced lighting without problems. I would imagine it is tied to a driver issue, and Stardock can't change the drivers, they must be waiting to see if NVidia and ATI will respond to their questions, if not they will have to change the internal game engine to do things a different way (which maybe a lot of work).
I dont really understand this too.... it cant get delayed? Why? There is nothing worse for gamers than an incomplete game on release, ETW being a perfect recent example. I'd rather wait, than constantly repatched until the game is nearer to its potential.
It may not have all the features you think are critical, but I don't think it will be unfinished. Also, Stardock is known for patching its games u
I'm in for the pizza idea... The Elemental team has really gone above and beyond. Excellent Job!
