Quoting Peace Phoenix, reply 10 Have you opened Impulse and enabled the "show pre-release version" ? Oh really? I thought I missed the beta window. I enabled the "show pre-release" in impulse but didn't see anything. Do I have to do anything in impulse to link my pre-order so that it would show?
did you receive an e-mail from Stardock? If so it should have told you that you have access to
Along with a tutorial and in-game encyclopedia, I think it would bring an added dynamic if NPCs and friendly AIs might comment on your efforts. It would make the world seem more alive and interesting and for new players, the tips would link to the encyclopedia. An NPC walking past your struggling city could say suggest a way it might be improved: Jerk NPC: "Ha! What a dump! This place will never am
Sinner Dude welcome to the beta. One question that might not have been addressed yet in this thread, but you mentioned that it looked horrible. I hope you realize that the cloth map we are playing on is the simplest view of the game and that we don't have the full 3d engine until beta 3. You should find some screenshots on the front page or in the dev journals section. Personally, I don't think we'll be saying this looks horrible once
Nice list of changes. I'm looking forward to testing. Hopefully this evening. :) [e digicons][/e]
It's pretty fun. Just been playing for a couple hours after getting from Impulse last night. Anyone have a suggestion for a clan? I'd like to find others that are mature and prefer team work and fun over swearing and kill count.
This feature would be great.
Definitely need something for magic using types: Curator (Spell book bonus or research bonus) Priest (Healing spell bonus) Mortician/Necromancer (summon skeleton spell) General occupations: Astrologer (Increase in prestige) Horse/Bear/Lion breeder (starts out with Beast taming tech) Executioner - (Decrease in Prestige, but increase in Strength) Messenger - (Increased movement speed) </p
OK. I did see that I guess I just assumed we were talking about something with an even quicker turnaround than next Thursday...call me impatient if you must. Thanks!
RavenX, What was the answer? I have been looking for posts by BoogieBac, but haven't found one that addresses this. It's possible I just missed it (is there a way to find posts from only a single user with search?).
I can confirm this bug. Choosing those perks doesn't seem to have an effect at least in the first 30 turns of a game (which is all I've played at the moment).
I haven't seen a comment on when we are expecting the new build. Did I miss the news? Anyone from SD want to give us some beta update news? Thanks!
I think this may be another case where we have misunderstood what Brad meant. I could be wrong, but I believe he was only talking about physical damage types not being categorized into slashing, piercing, crushing, etc. I honestly will be very surprised if we don't have elemental type damage from spells, item effects, etc. Personally, I won't miss the physical damage variations, but I think it is important to have the magical effects and other types of damage "
I didn't play many fantasy games but having only "Attack+Defense+Speed+hitpoints" seems more like Civilization. Even Age of Wonder (ten years old already. Time flies) had more (resistance i.e.), not even considering units special abilities (fire strike, climb wall, poison resistance, see in dark...). I think I remember that Brad stated somewhere that he's a big fan of Dominions II/III. I too. They are

I can remove all files and get past the intro, but just to a black screen. But just removing the family tree files doesn't help.
OP - Great Idea. This just reminded me of the days of playing Pen 'n Paper DnD. That would be great if Elemental could capture that feeling. Man....I wish I could find people that liked to play PnP RPGs anymore.
I believe they implemented a localized currency display. Meaning that if you are in Australia, the cost of the game is in Austrailian Dollars. I think that might be what you are seeing, because I ordered the game (in US) and it is still $50.
+1 - or something very similiar
RegnorVex, have you contacted stardock about your specific configuration? They may be able to help you. And just to let you know, it only takes 1 player in a game to hose it up for everyone. So even if most of the players were experienced and one had a bad setup/connection (as was likely the case given one person had problems connecting all day), it will ruin it for everyone. Indeed there are still connection problems, but believ
Softlee, Check your pms. Have fun!
Draver or softlee Do you still need a coupon?
And if you have an AI partner, they will also try to come to the "pinged" area

I never said it wasn't against the law, I said it wasn't nessasarially morally wrong. I do agree it's legally and possibly socially wrong.
Fair enough. I understand your perspective. I just disagree.
SolaceAvatar, Just because you didn't "hurt" someone doesn't mean it isn't against the law. Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing software pirates in the same group as murderers or kidnappers, but it is still against the law. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to most people nowadays, but to me it is still a problem. If you take something that is not yours, even if that person will never notice, it is still wrong. If it weren't why wouldn't all
I'm not saying piracy is right, but it's not theft... that's why it's not called theft. The fact of the matter is: the single player game was not intended to be "free to the public" no matter how big or small a part of the software it is. The game has a user agreement and nowhere in it, does it say: "You can use this software for free as long as you don't go online to play with other people." Just because something is easy to get, doesn't mean it is right to actually take it. While piracy may not affect the s
