When I downloaded SSGoku's SS-04 Sysmetrix, I commented to him that I liked it because it was big and readable. At least, after I got to changing all the text, adding a few buttons, etc. I told him that I'd be using that pattern to learn to skin Sysmetrix. And I have been. What I've got looks nothing like SS-04. It's fairly large, and very legible, which is what I need. This middle age presbyopia crap really necessitates good legibility. I love the Sysmetrix that some of you desig

Phoon, I did update my nvidia driver a few weeks ago. And PERISH THE THOUGHT of my video card going on the fritz. I can't afford it right now. But, I suppose if it did putz out on me, I'd just have to replace it with something better, wouldn't I? I should just stop dreaming. I *can't* afford it. <img src=

Well, the verdict is in. My computer is running smoothly. Or, at least as smooth as possible given that it's only a 1.2mhz processor, 512 mb RAM. But, I don't have the money to upgrade, so I continue to push this sucker to the limit. Photoshop is kind of a limit for it. And, it's RUNNING!!!! Color me <im

Thank you again, everyone. Chas, no offense taken sir. I realize that most people who post here are "sir". Hmmmmmmm..... I wonder....... If people can have "sir" before their names, how bout milady? Hey, Stardock!!! How bout it? Nahhhh, never mind. I enjoy the anonymity. Anyway, I ran msconfig, and unchecked some programs. Thank you for looking. That's why I posted my task manager. And, thanks for that site. I have to go to work now, and I'll get back to it later. I am still

I think I found the problem. It was ObjectDock. For some reason, it was using over one thousand, as in THOUSAND GDI objects. That's ridiculous. I don't know why it climbed so high, but after shutting down and restarting, which I've already done a zillion times, it's now using only 135 GDI objects. Now, let's see if it stays down. NAV seems to be behaving, as is DX (which sometimes gives me problems). Believe it or not, TaskInfo really helped me track it down. It is a great program, even

I guess you meant ccevtmgr.exe. I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I did a google search and found this link http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Q_20824958.html Apparently, slowdowns with NAV are not that uncommon. I hate Norton. But, a computer "expert" loaded it onto my system a few months ago, and I've been using it ever since. I woldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the problem. I'm going to shut down NAV, and see how it runs. I had been us

I downloaded TaskInfo. A really amazing program. It gives me tons, and I mean TONS of information. Problem is, I don't know what any of it means. Before I installed it, I shut down DX, Sysmetrics, anything open, like my browser, but I forgot to shut down Objectbar. No big deal, I don't think. Anyway, the only thing I have running now, in addition to OB, is SDC. I also opened Sysmetrix so

Sheesh, I really started something here. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to create any hostilities. I am going to look at TaskInfo 2003. Also, Yrag has been helpful to me in the past, and I trust his judgment. Yrag, what do you mean by "tacked"? Do you mean tasked? Right now, my CPU is running at about 40%, and all I'm doing is writing this message. This sucks. I have defragged, cleaned out temporary files, I ran a reg cleaner from Toni Arts, called EasyCleaner http://www.ton

..... and it's virtually unusable for some things. Like Photoshop. It took almost 4 minutes for PS to just load, never mind use anything. That's unacceptable, and I'm wondering what's causing it. My CPU load hovers around 20%, when normally it runs about 4-10% if I'm just idling. I went into Task Manager looking for anything that may be the culprit. In the past, I had two versions of ObjectDock running. No good. But such isn't the case now. What I do have, however, is five copie

Lately, I go back and forth between Phoon's and gef's DX themes. Right now, I have gef's Fadeout. But, maybe I'll switch back to Phoon's Chained Lightening. Decisions, decisions........

Finally, and it was so simple. The reason my browser would not open on DX urls was because it was not configured to recognize them. In Avant Browser Options, in the Tools menu, was a little check box that was not checked. DOH! Sheesh...... But, thanks so much for trying to help. I'm happy, cuz it was so frustrating and now it's fixed. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.

Samsami, I'm sure no expert, but I did find SS-04 Sysmetrix, by SS Goku just recently. It's really simple, clean and of course configurable. But, it's not fancy or pizzazzy like Pinchecl's designs, though I really do like it alot. Right now, I'm using Pinchecl's CP5 4SMX. I had to redo all the text, make some bolder, lose some, recenter some. I, too, need to be able to read it at 1280x1024 resolution (the extra "real estate" is so critical). It took some work, oh about 15 minutes,

Samsami, one more thing. If you do make changes, be sure to save the theme. Otherwise, all the changes you make for your personal use will be lost if you install a new theme. Then, you'd go back and have to make those changes all over again. Save, save, save..........

I go into Sysmetrix Configuration (right click on Sysmetrix) and delete anything I don't want. I change texts and colors as I see fit to make it more legible for me. I sometimes change the information that's displayed, because I don't need what the designer put there. In other words, Sysmetrix is so configurable, within limits, of course. As for the media player, that's part of the graphic, so it's not deletable. Download a Sysmetrix without one. Or, design your own. <img src="htt

And, one other thing..... This is for you ZoneAlarm users. How should I configure my firewall? I really do think this may be the problem with my DX access. Right now, I have my Internet Zone set to high, and my Trusted Zone set to medium. But, what about those "custom" buttons? Should I be opening some particular outgoing port? I really don't know anything about this stuff. Yrag?? You're good at this stuff. Any ideas? <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/ind

OK folks, I'm appealing to the Help message board, though I have posted the problem in the Discussion board, via the Chained Lightening -Phoon thread. Here's the deal: It does not matter which DX theme I have running, but url's will not link to my browser, and therefore will not work. I continually get a message that I may have typed the address incorrectly, and to please check and try again. But, I know the address is correct. I have checked the link target, and within Prop
