This story was posted at Common Dreams - http://www.commondreams.org/ The question they asked was "Where was Ashcroft in all of this?" The article itself, originally posted in the Los Angeles Times is located here - http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0107-03.htm Way too many important stories left out of mainstream press, for only one reason - politics. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/ima

I used to always think that Celerons were lousy. Certainly not as good as Pentiums or AMD's. And, maybe that's true. But, I have and old Dell Dimension XPS T500. That's a groanin' 500 mhz. Way too slow for this day and age. But, I couldn't afford a new computer, so I decided to upgrade. But my ol' BX motherboard wouldn't upgrade very far. I found, through posting to the Dell user forum (which, btw, has some really great and knowledgable posters) a site called www.powerleap.com

This may be a silly question, but I'm posting it anyway....... Is it possible to use the Capture Docklet to take a screenshot while the start bar is open? I guess, what I'm asking is whether there is a way to set the start bat to stay open. If there is, I can't figure it out. If not, I would imagine you all are using some other screen capture program to take such screenshots. Am I correct? Feeling silly....... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/notsure.gif

I use nickel metal hydride, exclusively. I use them for my flashlights, camera and mouse. I have about 8 sets, that I swap in and out, with batteries almost always sitting in the charger. Most bang for the buck, for sure. I think Consumer Reports just did a cost evaluation on batteries a few issues ago. NiMH don't last as long as alkaline, but it doesn't matter. You can recharge them around 500 times, so that's what makes them so cost effective. Not including the charger, howeve

When the site told me I couldn't download anymore, I said "no friggin' way...." I was an addict, and I admit it. I shelled over the $20 without hesitation. The $50 for Object Desktop was a bit harder to part with, though....... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="

I did that a 3am when I was working on a paper for college. The paper was due at 9am that same morning. I sat and I cried. Literally. Then, I went about the business of rewriting what I had lost, but it was never quite as good as my original (which was dammm good, I must say). Sh*t do happen........ My condolences, Caddy. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=f

Thanks, Rocky. I'll write down this imaging posting thing, so I'll get it. I, for the life of me, don't understand why I've had such problems posting my desktop. Sheesh....... I spend most of my days at work on a computer, doing GIS mapping. So, it's not like I don't know computers. I just have this mental block...... Anyway, sure wish you could see this photo thing cycling through. I made the frame identical for all ten images. So, even though the frame is actually part of each

OK, I got it. What I needed to do, and only figured out this morning, is that I have to right click on the object in the list, not the object on my desktop. DOH!! Tonight, I'll resize some images, and give it a test run. Right now, I have to get ready for work. I'll post some images when I get it figured out. As I said, one step at a time...... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/bigsm

I dunno. It seems like it's what I want. But, with DX2, you can't right click and get properties of an object anymore. It just right clicks through to the desktop properties. I tried listing the objects, but that didn't help. I just don't know enough about DX scripts. Suggestions, pleeeeeease. Maybe once I figure this out, I can add my own frames to it. That would be very cool. One s

My first post didn't seem to go through, but if it does eventually, I apologize for the double post...... Anyway, I have some space on my desktop that is crying for a DX photo. In other words, is there a way to put a frame on the desktop that would enable the import of any image that someone may want, like of a grandchild, my case Also, maybe a choice of frames, or the ability to resize them, or

Thanks. I tried all that, but it didn't really work. But, having said that, it's all fixed. I don't think that DX is actually "buggy". Rather, it's got so many parts that if you don't know what you're doing, it will reset something, and you won't know what happened. That's what happened to me. It actually reset two things that screwed me up, settings that I didn't know existed: it hid the taskbar and it set the wallpaper. As soon as I figured out to uncheck those things, all was

I always have a hard time with DX themes, although I really love the way some of them look. But, I tried again this evening, and sho' nuff, I'm having problems. In preparation for applying one of gef's themes, I deleted the DX objects that were already on my desktop, so there would be no conflicts. OK. So far, so good. I downloaded the theme, and it installed just great. But, I decided that I'd prefer to go back to the convention wallpapers and windowblinds. BUT, I CAN'T!! At least, not

Can someone here please post a step-by-step on how to put up your screenshot to this forum. I've had so many problems. I do have my screenshot uploaded to my profile, so anyone can see it, but I sure would like to have the procedure. This time, I'll print it out and do it right. TIA <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinBrowser!"

Thanks for all the replies. I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client, and I love it. Makes me feel very safe. But, I find Firebird to be a bit "clunky", for lack of a better term. It seems to hang and jerk and just not run as smoothly as IE, unfortunately. I just don't know why. Ars Tecnica has a really good review of it; actually of the gecko engine, itself. But, as I said, I'm sticking wi
