So you're saying that Alpha centauri's diplomacy triggered too often and constantly changed to the point it interrupted with getting on with the game. Fair comment, but if the frequency of diplomacy 'offers' was decreased, do you think it would have been a good system? Heh. StarDocks GalCiv-2 team I feel doesn't seem to understand the

I think the answer is that some people want more severe poles between realism and fun factor. The game already includes options to adjust the number of useable planets on the map, which what we're talking about here. The solution is simply to make the most abundant and rare options to be even more rare and abundant. Maybe include a couple an Ultra Rare and Ultra Abundant option to create those extreme galaxies. The game balancing would probably be pretty poor as

Personally, I would be quite disturbed if they decided to include women as leaders or in any other role, only to have them exposing a lot of cleavage. Let's keep the drool off the keyboard please and include women but have them just as modestly dressed as the men. I know that I personally do not play games to drool over the characters on the sc

That makes sense actually. The complete randomness of the homeworld in GC1, made a lot of players regenerate the galaxy till the finally had a nice quality homeplanet. This option will even things out. Personally I always thought the point was to play with what the game gives you. If you star in a bad position

Alpha Centauri. Medicore. Every damn time you bring up an Diplomatic interface with once of the Factions they always offered something, bribed, harassed, Vendetta bull... Anyway I can't decide which RTS/Space-Sim has brought upon me an unique strong Diplomacy system. MOO-3 and Paradox Hearts of Iron 2. Can't decide on which because I ha

My feeble minded suggests that GC1 used several factors to determine a races attitude towards you, be it friendly, aggressive, terrified etc. I think it worked pretty well, it just maybe lacked a little in variety. I imagine Stardock would love to hear players ideas for "greetings messages", so don't be shy to suggest. But back on the original point of the thread, why

While the Beta is shaping up, you shouldnt think about pre-ordering this to just to get a new game early. It will probably crash on you at some point, the aliens might not want to talk to you for a few more months (I think they're just shy, but stardock seem to think they've forgotten how to use their universal translators or something), most of the tech tree is currently non-existant and so on. But if you are interested in helping to make this the game you

Light hearted comedy that was. There are two schools of thought on that, love a chuckle, atmospheric imersion. You're the immersion type, and tbh I am too. I like a joke, but I think I'd prefer the game without it. The Fallout series is a similar story. I loved those games by the way. In Fallout 2 there were several random encounters (easter eggs) which spirited you away to re-enact moments of Monty Python and The Holy Grail. The Bridge keeper with his

Canadian, are you saying you want to design/upgrade your own custom probes? I suppose an simple answer might be more pre-set probe designs becoming availiable as you progress technologically, in the way you are awarded the Star fighter once you research its pre-requisites. So a Probe Mk2 with superior range/speed maybe. Might be simpler for stardock to do than implementing another custom hull and just as good. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cente

Why would they replace Humans with robots. That just means unemployment, morality, ethics, etc including Feministic rallys. Anyway as usual any offical word? There was another thread on this a month or two ago, Carielf said at the time she wants to include a few female characters in the game but its not a high

Tough one to balance I think, the further apart colonies are the longer it takes to move ships around, and the fewer systems you can fit on to the same size map. Ship speed is the main issue I think, otherwise it weill take ages to get anywhere if you put the stars too far apart. I have had the same thought myself though, maybe they should be a little more spaced out than they are at the moment. Take a look at the journals section for an interesting articl

You have a good point about the "negative influences" being a big factor. I think Lucky Jack had a similar point about war weariness. So on the negative side, we may see voters influenced to vote like this, for example: Pacifists: we are losing a war or paying way too much for military upkeep War Party: we have a superior military but

GC1 handling planetary bombardment as a planetary invasion option, dunno what the plans are this time round. Maybe this could work, but personally I'm wary of 'super weapon' mechanics as they tend to focus the game along a specific path. The AI would likely identify it a the optimal route in most situatins and so attempt to blast you flat at every opportunity. I dunno, just thinking out loud. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 AL

Are you saying that the ship is traveling to ad exploring anomalies, but the graphic doesnt show any movement? I think someone else had a similar problem. On the other hand, you might be saying that after the ship explores an anaomaly it asks for new orders. That would be normal, it's completed a mission and is waiting for new instructions. I don't think an 'auto explore' function has been added yet.

Larger hulls are going to become availiable as you complete research, they aren't in the beta yet simply because it's a work in progress.

One argument that arose concerning the 'Auto-Launch' option (in GC1) is wether or not it became superfluous once Rally Points were introduced. If we let you easilly set a rally point for a planet as to where you want produced ships to be sent, does an AutoLaunch option become obsolete? No, I don't think it does. In s

I get this sometimes, but its always come back without having to exit. I tend to hit spacebar, enter, move the camera etc and it comes back. I think it might be some sort of lag, as I've not figured out exactly what brings it back. Could it be that the game updates slowly at times? It does seem to happen if I cycle turns quickly.
