Well, I guess "It ain't just me". I have the same problem on XPHomeSP2. I've just now submitted a ticket to Stardock Support referencing this thread and asking them to get involved with it. On my machine, yes it is user permission issues which I fix by manually changing the permissions. Hopefully that's the "wrong answer" and I've been an idiot. FYI the issue then re-appears on my machine when I do an update. You probably don't want to use that approach right now in

If you have a dialogue going with Mike, by all means pursue that direction. I'll be exiting soon as I don't want to confuse the issue.
Mike from Stardock sent me an email on this & wanted the the ip.log file located within the C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\Installed directory There was no folder called Installed directory in this SDCentral Folder. Nor was there an ip.log anywhere in the Stardock/SDCentral Folder.
A little clarification on th
I can't really give you solid answers but I think I can turn the wheel a little bit, someone else can quite likely come along and elaborate. It also might matter which version of XP or Vista you're using. On XP I just updated Iconpackager from version 3.20.128 to 3.20a[rc].033 which is what's out there today and what you likely installed. During that update it moved my icon packs from the Programs directory into the All Users directory - I suspect that since you were installing the ne

I read your original post as saying that only the Object Dock slows down, not your entire system. I'm not sure that's how Lantec read it. Which ever it is (and you might want to clarify), after the problem arises does it help to just unload/close Object Dock and then start Object Dock again?
Would anyone care for a kudo? I loaded up the new version of FX about a week ago and it's running better for me than any of the previous versions. With the old versions I used to have an occasional problem with the WB skin graphics getting corrupted on my windows borders or title bars but this new version so far has been rock solid. Don't know if it's something Stardock did or just my dumb luck in configuring this that and the other (it certainly wasn't any graphic card driver
Not a mod, but I can sure cover this one: To save a clean version of a current program download: Go into Stardock Central. Click on Object Desktop in the left column. You'll now be on the same screen you download your updates from. Right-click on the software you want to save (WindowBlinds 6) in this case. Within the right-click menu mouseover "Archive Application". Within the extended right-click menu from "Archive Application" click on "Download and Archiv
I'd like to emphasize that the Stardock Central program is your friend, seriously, spend some time getting to know it. I say this because it is the least "fun" piece of all the software, at least to me, and can be really tempting to not spend enough time with it. It is what enables you to manage all the programs you just bought and goes a long way toward eliminating that "What is all this stuff?" sensation.
It not a 'run it and yell oh crap! nooooooooooo!' kinda thing.
"Don'tcha hate it when that happens?" Thanks Bichur, I was kind of wondering at what point exactly I'd be pulling the trigger.
I saw a reference on another post to the Component Zapper, odnt_zapper.exe. I always like having a good scrubber handy so I've downloaded it. I can't seem to come up with any notes regarding it's usage though, and I'm reluctant to run the exe to see what it gives me. Is that what I want to do, will it give me any instructions or options (including canceling), or are there some guidelines floating around here somewhere? Thanks.
Regarding the initial erratic behavior: I'm wondering if you may have "imported" the widget instead of "loading" it or running it. I say this because the distinction wasn't clear to me at first, and "importing" a widget for general usage can cause erratic behavior, depending on the widget. For general usage of a widget, you DO NOT want to go into "Configure DexktopX", "Import an Object", click on "Widgets", and load it. You DO want to double click on the exe file or c
I'm not quite sure if you're asking for help or just wanting to report the incompatability, but: Do you know about excluding an application from Windowblinds? It sounds like what I'd do here. Go into Windowblinds Configuration, "Settings" tab (at the top), "Change the look of an app" (just under the tabs), "Add per application setting" (towards the top), browse to the .exe file for the program, click (or doubleclick(?) on it, click on the first box in the new "Per application
Ok, this is a long-shot, but it looks like ideas are sparse so here it goes: If you have any docks landing in the top left corner of your primary monitor, delete them and see if the problem continues. If you're using 2 monitors, the primary monitor is the only one I'm talking about, the secondary doesn't matter. So we're talking about deleting anything positioned on the top edge and aligned left, and anything positioned on the left edge aligned top, on the primary monitor. I
Thanks for the links, they do look like what I'd like to do. I looked at them, hacked around for quite awhile, couldn't get it to work. No big surprise there, I couldn't program my way out of a wet paper bag. So I hard coded it. That worked fine this time around, don't know what my problem was before (see "wet paper bag" reference above ). Agreed not the best solution, but it gets the job done, and duplicating that little widget a
Hi: The OMNI Slideshow widget uses a file "OMNIslideshow.ini" to save it's settings. The script line is: FilePath=desktopx.ExecutableDirectory&"OMNIslideshow.ini" I'd like to redirect that file from the "ExecutableDirectory" to user directories, either using a User variable or hardcoding the user into the script and using a seperate widget for each user. I've created seperate widgets and ini files for each user, but they're all still in the programs directory and I h
WebGizmos re #494: I already did this once and lost the last latest build so I'm not really wild about doing this again and losing yet another build. ...[abridged]... Any suggestions in the right direction would be great. Do you know about this trick? In Stardock Central, before I download and install a program or update, I download/archive the new version (right click on program, select "Archive Application", select "Download and Archive").
The main page of Wincustomize WWW Link still indicates October 2nd. I haven't seen anything to the contrary, you can keep an eye on it there if you like.
"Tattooed Vista Werewolf Skin" works for me! Not a lot of creative talent on my end - anytime I've tried to create a textured statusbar it's either come out looking like a cat's hairball or a cat's hairball repeatedly
Maybe a mini-trend, I'd like to see more along the lines of IRBraniac's Knot Vista - subtle tone variations within the statusbar and titlebars without looking very tiled or stretched, based on imagery you might see in the non-computer world. I certainly like all of the other stuff too, a lot of my more natural looking blinds are pretty old though and kind of outdated. I quite like the Furry Panel pictured above too! Seems like tiling it or stretching it would be a trick, but it could
My reaction: Doesn't bother me a bit. Sorry.
Kaazz- No really, I've known people who just really didn't have a clue that there might be something wrong with it. When I've explained they've stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Some have even turned a little white when the light clicked on. It's bizarre. I'm not even talking about the mentality of "it's kind of like driving 5 miles an hour over the speed limit".
What blows me away is how many people honestly don't see anything wrong with it, seriously. And I'm not just talking about "them darned kids".
I guess that's about it for this thread. Molitar if you want it fixed you should probably send it to Stardock support at: WWW Link
Bebi Bulma: If I'm playing anything in WinAmp, regardless of Stardock, it'll usually tack on a fair amount of CPU usage, say 10-30% depending on what I'm playing. That it?
