considering that a new windows ( windows 7) is announced and will be released in 2009. Personally, I wouldn't be holding my breath for that.
Oh, they'll probably get something else out in the next couple of years. You can charge for new versions, can't really charge for patches/updates/service packs. Question is, How much cash does a person want to pay out over a lifetime for the "joys" of new operating systems

Coyote: Glad the batch file worked for you. Ecstatic, actually. This is really the first verification there's been on that. In case you didn't pick it up on the other thread, the issue will likely re-appear to some extent after you update any of the Stardock programs. Any files changed by the update will likely have the permission issue, at least for a while until that gets revised at the installation point. You'll need to run the batch file again after update, or a similar

Kind of a generic suggestion but I'll throw it out anyway - Have you tried excluding the application from skinning within Windowblind Config? (Configure Windowblinds, Settings, Change the look of an app, add per application setting, Total exclusion - Ignore this application....)

Looks like you're going to have to go directly to Stardock Support with this, here: [link="https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp"]WWW Link[/link] Way bizarre - don't think I've ever seen anything on here like this.

Emilio - If you ran the batch file, then updated Windowblinds, you likely need to run the batch file again to adjust the permissions, because the files changed by the update almost certainly have the problematic permission settings on them. That would explain why the standard accounts aren't working. If you updated Windowblinds, then ran the batch file, I'm surprised that part of it isn't working. Also, as I read back through this I see that it hasn't clearly been stated that

I sent the ticket back in. I want to be sure I'm reading you right on a couple of points though:
because the system thinks I no longer have administrative rights (even on my admin account).
You do mean regarding only the Stardock programs and directories, right?
The short of it is that it didn't work as expected, which was to allow me to run separate instances of WindowBlinds for the various non-administrator users on my computer.<br
(by the way how to add line breaks in this forum? Seems that I can't press return)
Enter/return does it for me. I saw in another relatively recent thread that if you're running XP the DTX systray function should be working, if you're running Vista it won't. I searched and found a Procars theme here (and ya, it's an oldie): [link="https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=405&libid=31"]WWW Link[/link] If that's your theme, you migh

Ok, I was going entirely the wrong direction. I thought you meant you were having trouble with the standard Windows Systray, that's where my first reply came from. Sounds like you're having a problem with a Systray Object. Ya you're right, if it's an object you're probably loading it right. I don't have a systray object, doesn't mean there wasn't one there at some point. Is this something you've downloaded? - if it is, or if you're running a theme that it's part of, which one is it?

It sounds like you may be running in Builder Mode and using the object browser to load widgets. You don't want to do that, you want to run widgets either with a shortcut or a double-click on their file just like you would any other program, unless you're wanting to modify the widget. Some widgets, for example OmniSlideshow, include right-click menues which work great when the widget is run as a program as intended, but interfere with right-clicking when the widget is imported into DTX (loaded

I've got my own hacky but useful little desktops built with multiple parents, groups, and individual objects as appropriate to get everything to behave the way I want. Sometimes I'd like to be able to combine those entire desktops with desktops I download with their multiple related objects. Barring object or group name conflicts, which most likely wouldn't be a problem or else I could fix it sometimes, is there a way to combine them without exporting each group of related objects and

If you want to know where the files actually are: The WB skin files are located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\Windowblinds in XP or whatever the equivalent of that is in Vista (which I've seen around here but hasn't been retained by my rust-ridden brain). The suite files are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\ThemeManager in XP or whatever the equivalent of that is in Vista. Otherwise "What Nimbin Said".

Here's the link for the Stardock Support mail form: [link="https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp"]WWW Link[/link] Top field "Type of Question" is a drop down menu with "Support" listed in it. Maybe somebody else here can help you with your actual issue, but I wouldn't be the guy. Good luck.

Yay, I can answer one! Right click on your tabbed dock, the dock itself, not a contained object/icon, in other words on a tab or the very edge of the dock. Mouseover the "View" menu item (1st item), a submenu comes up, click on the last item "Lock Dock Position" to select it. No more inadvertant scooting.

Metzkausen: If I were you I'd contact Stardock support directly using the form located here: [link="https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp"]WWW Link[/link] and include a reference to this thread and ask them for a German version of the file. It would be more reliable than hoping Mike picks back up on this thread. I'd translate it myself but you've already proven your English to be much better than my German, as you've constructed an understandable line in Engli

I think your best bet would be to contact Stardock directly and tell them exactly what's happened via the form located here: https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp (Don't know if that address will link from here or if you'll have to copy it to your address bar.) They're probably observing holidays right now so you'll likely need to be a little patient.

Spammers annoy the heck out of me, but I can't put them in the same catagory as spyware distributors. To me there's a big jump to actually installing software without user permission, and another big jump when that software is intentionally obscure to uninstall and has the primary function of pumping in advertising, collecting personal information, and using machines to propagate itself to other machines. As far as these scumbags go, well, use your imagination. I don't want to spew.

So has anyone used Mike's batch file - did it do the trick? It would be nice if we could provide some feedback before it all gets buried too far in the pile. I don't really want to - the only way I could really test it would be to uninstall everything and start all over again, since I've already changed my permissions (the hard way of course, oh yay [smirk]) and I don't remember how they started out. Please post any results.

I had a problem with the checkout button a couple of days ago, I just went back several hours later and it went through fine. I know not a great answer, but if you have a problem with it you might just try again later. Do make sure you've only got one instance of your purchase in the shopping cart though, when I did this the prior instance of my purchase was still in there for a total of 2. Don't know about the advertising.

Chubs39:
Sounds like a disaster in the making... Where are daddy's files, kids?
Good foresight on your part. :CONGRAT: Add to the list: "Where did all these annoying little programs come from?" "What the heck are all of these popups?" "Why is my machine so slow?" "What happened to my hard drive space?" "Why do people get spam and email virus's from me?" Admin mode is malware's friend.
