Do I need a different skin?
Sounds like it. I don't know if this is the overall style that you're looking for, but it recolors well. It might give you a better idea of what to look for in terms of recoloring: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/9090/

I suppose it's entirely up to you, you're the one that has to deal with it. 8.1 does still have 3 years left on it though. On the other hand, if I remember right people quit making skins for XP before it expired, I think it was mainly those pesky Explorer icons that made them crazy. Skinning for an expired version (Win7) does seem like a bit much to me. As already pointed out, there is a hefty stock of Win7 skins in the gallery. Heck, you guys are having to twe

Kept those boots on as long as they would stay, kept those fingers clicking as long as they would co-operate. Well done Dave, good journey. [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]-_-[/e]

Of the first nine dreams, clicking on the Download button takes me to a "This site can't be reached [...] Err_Invalid_Response" page on these three dreams: Mana Shades Sylock Red Dark Avatar (Ran into it on a couple and thought I'd check the rest.)

Here's what I have installed: WindowBlinds Start10 SkinStudio DeskScapes DTX (I know, but I still use it.) IconDeveloper (I use it as a conversion tool between ico's and png's, going both directions) SpaceMonger (I mainly use it to clear the junk "~" files out of the WB skins.) CursorFX (Honestly, I hardly ever have it running, but sometimes.) I'll throw this out in case it gives you any ideas - One of the things I do wit

I'm Dave (of course you knew that). Over the years a couple of people have guessed (wrong) about the "RI". It's a subtle backwards nod to the skinner IRBraniac who not only made great skins but was also exceptional about passing information along, a quality I've always admired.
One thing to remember when WB gets updated these skins will be over written.
Al, this takes care of that:
First, make a copy of the theme in SkinStudio to use for editing. That means the original skin will be left untouched and should hopefully avoid the overwrite issue ALMonty pointed out.
This is how you do it (you have to "give it a minute"

Not with any Stardock software. There are a lot of skins to choose from though. A little tip - When going through the gallery, you can go to the second page, then just replace the ending "2" with a larger number (e.g. "30") to jump to that page. In other words, you can go through several pages and, when you're ready to stop for awhile, you can make note of where you're stopping and then just jump to that page when you're ready to peruse some more. https://www.wincust

I'm not absolutely sure that this is for the correct version, but see if this helps: https://forums.stardock.com/404232/page/1/

Usual disclaimer: No guarantee or warranty expressed or implied. Observations are based purely on my own experience. All testing and experimentation is strictly at your own risk. There is a file called reimport.lst in the skin directory. SKS uses it to keep track of the images you have imported or edited from within SKS and monitor them to see if they've been updated. Just to see if reimport.lst is causing your problem: After SKS has become noticeably slow, clo
As you're actually skinning the parts, putting in more info as you go along & updating every now and then it gets worse.
There is a file called reimport.lst in the skin directory. Are you familiar with it and how it works? I've been wondering if that file is getting big enough that things are getting bogged down, particularly if you are loading your images from an external drive. We could check that

Hmm, I was just keying/tabbing through some fields here and it does seem to be a little bit laggy. Not as bad as the few problem skins I was talking about (a couple of those were ridiculous), but it does seem to have picked up a little lag/sputter. Somebody may want to know - I'm on Win10.

I haven't noticed it in general. I have always noticed it occasionally on some skins every once in awhile, I've no idea why, but what I've see is is very much skin-specific. If the skin does it, it does it, if it doesn't, it doesn't. You might try opening up somebody else's skin to see if it works any better. There might some condition you guys are carrying around in your skins (I'm guessing you don't start from scratch every time).

Glad you got it sorted. I thought you just hadn't made your way down to the "Manage Folders" button yet. I guess the specifics of the shortcut are beyond me [e digicons][/e]

At the bottom left of the DeskScapes window, while you're on the "Local" tab, there is a button "Manage folders". Click on that, a small window will pop up, click on the "Add" button, select the folder that your images are in and add it.
