but is it Mom2 In terms of branding, definitely not according to the Gamasutra interview. In terms of functionality, that probably depends on what you mean by "a new rev" (Version 2) for software. For some folks, that means major improvements, for others major changes, and still others expect both. In the interview, Brad is quoted sayin

I'm also very interested in this feature. I'm especially interested in what might be up for those of us who play long games that we might not finish for a few weeks, or given the winter holidays, not finishing until sometime decently into January. How will releases during the beta process affect long-game players? Can we expect a game we start now to reflect the near-RTM version of the epic generator if we are working with a game settings:play-time ratio that means several weeks to fini
I'd post a screen cap if the Insert Image button here worked like the forum icon implies it should. I'm semi-pro with software Q&A, so I apolize b/c this is kind of two bugs at once, but I was wondering why there wasn't a clear ID other than color for a selected mining base base, and fidget-clicked the rename area for the base. So I retried. I seem to be able to rename AI-owned mining bases in beta 1.
(of course DA probably changes everything) A painfully pithy aside that points towards the core virtue of GCII--it can satisfy an amazingly wide range of tastes on the tactics-strategy scal. DA seems to be built to shake us all up, whether we like a very quick game or expect that we'll need *many* hours to finish (which can mean many weeks for fo
I'm guessing not, or at least that code doesn't require them to be under the same limit. The reported vulnerability to influence makes me think they are in a different (new) object family.
one of the problems is that these types of prerequisites are not documented anywhere. I still can't make myself do much work over there, but I'm convinced the galciv wiki could be the right tool to fix this problem, especially if there is some methodical way for Stardock dev folks to mark articles as "accurate" or "needing revision." No
when you choose neutral you don't immediately get all of the un terraformed tiles. You only get the tiles that you could have terraformed at your current tech level. Haven't played enough yet to see this for myself, but kudos for the idea. (Also glad I wasn't spacing re the absence of class 1 & 2 worlds in core GCII.)
Evil Muppet might be onto something there, or else I should find another thread to ask about the appearnce of all the less than class 5 worlds that are appearing on my gigantic maps. Could there be some changes to the handling of upgradable planet tiles that means we can now see puny little worlds that have potential to be larger colonies? I'm pretty sure I never saw anything below class 5 outside empire home systems in DL.
Good eye for the UI, and good news for the micro-folks.
Oi, don't get me going on the textbook industry, especially those wacky folks in Texas state gov't. I took my master's at UT Austin and heard some fascinating and scary stories from the locals. King of the Hill makes some very good jokes about that stuff on occasion Still, to try dragging this thread back towards the OP's question, the brief fit of US history nattering here is a good example of
The first 100 years of American politics can be boiled down to the south preserving its senate majority. The last hundred years can be summed up as the South getting even for losing it. This is a perfect example of why people need to read *whole books*. ShuShu is "right" in a crude bumpersticker sense, but there was far more to sectionalism than
I've barely started my first game, and think I might need to CTRL+N, slow down, and start thinking differently. I barrelled into colony rush mode but viable planets are not so common with my "usual" settings. Sweet.
Is this perhaps because of asteriod mining? That'd be my guess.
I don't want to scare anyone, but I didn't need to enter anything. After I got my SN email, I refreshed SDC, clicked Install by DA, and voila, got the expansion. I don't know if the fact that I've used SDC since GCI means anything. i have no idea also what 061 I believe I saw here or in IRC that the 061 for Dread Lordst is an update to support the
Brad's unusually plain-spoken for a CEO and I'm pretty sure you got him correctly. An as-yet-unnamed fantasy 4X game is the next big Stardock game project.
It looks like I'm in need of some serious strategy modification I agree with the reply above admiring how many *different* strategies can work with this game. I get at least as much time on the still-not-boring clock from mucking around with my strategies as I do in trying to get good enough to crank the AIs up another notch. Your "problem" is a
But be patient if the mail ain't there yet Gotta admit mine's in, though
Grifman, did you refresh (press F5)?
The batches don't seem to be going quite yet. A couple of Stardock folks are on the IRC still, but it might be good to just let go of this ship date stuff. Looks like technical problems outside Stardock's control might be at play.
I'm not playing a spreadsheet game Yes you are, Wheel. Another name for galactic 4X is "database in space." But I basically second your ideas here. I think one reason I'm leery of going beyond Tough is that I expect more prudent starbase attacks fr
I'm still too timid to step up from Tough, but I can second the suggestion of getting out of whatever your strategic rut might be and I suspect that tweaking startup settings is a good way to do that. Now if I can just make myself play on a less than max-size map...
The lapsed civics teacher says: use your anger productively, or at least make a good joke
They are processing the CC stuff now, and it will go in batches. We should get mail with keys that lets us know when to check in SDC.
2nd Mumble on Vista, but really hope he'll break down and join the beta 'cause us massive-game folks need the representation.
I know you’re probably “used” to it, but that doesn’t make it right. Actually, I'm long past "used" to it and regularly scare friends by using "my people's" version of the f-word. The "Lieutenant Homo" thing was at least 80% giggle for me, and the angsty remainder is mostly because I'm tired of the contemporary youth usage of "gay" as t
