I will always be in defence I tend to sympathize with underdogs, too, and Pinko was a real hard case for me b/c I'm both a pacifist and, yes, a for-real US socialist. Still, I don't think he's harmed my basic impulse to trust (although I'll be more likely to try to verify <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Laugh.gif" border=0 A

get the most points that way I'm one of those "Points, what stinkin' points?" people But I think The Great Emporer might be right that I'll have to give up or start cracking heads. Although I *am* starting to build an outrageously strong milita
The General's question does remind me how nice it would be to be able to build multiple tiny hulls in one turn on high-prod worlds. My math is so weak that I can't imagine why it would be hard to build two 200 BC ships on a world cranking out 400 build points.
If you're talking about special effects and not the underlying game mechanics, I think you can do something like this with Kryo's hull mod. I haven't tried it yet b/c I'm still finishing a very long game, but posts elsewhere suggest that you can build a tiny hull that looks like a group of whatever hulls or jewelry pieces you like. There's something like a "hull" that is only attachment points.
When I saw the subject, I thought this would be about what kind of economy a *player* should have going before casting the first stone at an AI. This is an even more interesting thought: the attacking AI should suffer political consequences from its decision to be agressive If you're including diplomatic relationships, I believe I agree.
If Lordpinko was indeed a minor, I'm inclined to share Mumble's tendency to cut him(her?) some slack. But the whole lying problem really does leave the story permanently in the realm of thought experiment. Lying and cheating just drive me crazy--part of why I'm pretty much giving up on the classroom. The problem is spreading to honors programs and grad schools WWW Link
I can't imagine any drama instructor worth his greasepaint who would suggest his students undertake such an exercise. I'm glad to see someone claming a drama background who scoffs the "experiment" thing here, if only b/c my small-town self has had yet another reminder that skepticism exists for good reasons. The possibility (liklihood?)
ugly green race color Quite un-PC for a PC gamer p.s. to Stardock: any chance of making the gender of the Terran character random for DA? I think some screencaps showed the mods-born Female Human leader pic--if she doesn't represent some new st
Thanks. Especially for not mentioning that the "idea" was way less than half the words
look at heroes, custom wizards, city management, experience levels for units... a lot of that stuff appears later in MoO 2. Oi, you seriously make me wish I'd taken better care with my original media. I don't know if it is my basic contempt for copyright or what, but despite having paid for MoM and all 3 MoOs, I have no good install media now for
nonsense like civilizations having planets in other civilizations borders If you think of the GCII systems as very crudely similar to partisan/nationlist/regionalist human politics, which I do, it can be perfectly sensible to have an other-civ world in "your" system. But I believe you're quite right that the influence borders are not go
I'm guessing then that the stats for the post-Assassin swarm have little or nothing to do with the human player's stats. Even with my off-spec system, I'm pretty sure that this event needs help (or removal). After some nutbars from "my" civ assisinated Alan Bradley, I had to destroy about half the Terrans' non-Vengance ships and take a healthy chunk of their oldest worlds, but I got them to lay off by the end of the second post-event week. We'd been allies since close to the time I got
The next morning woke early to get an hour in before work Did you use the Windows XP hibernate function or did you re-start the game in the morning? I run on a below-spec system that generally works OK with the fancy graphics turned off, but many of the problems I've seen seem to appear after waking my Windows XP system up from hibernation.
If I really wanted to slam someone it would be far more dramatic. In honor of Evil S and the fiery Wheel, I must point out that ESL people would benefit from a comma after your introductory clause, and a then wouldn't hurt either But I totally buy
that is more complicated, but that's not the 'combat' part Now I'm much more confident I don't have a good context to follow Jeff's arguments. Not only I do I basically miss the MoM as MoO1 to MoO2 edification thing, I cannot at all see how a planetary invasion ending with an occupation force and remaining local population is not part of how you
Oh, you mean it could stop ME from sneak attacking the AI? Maybe this isn't such a good idea after all! Actually, I voluntarily impose that rule on myself right now. Doh! Now I'm going to have to behave better in my next game. I haven't done it very often, but now and then my "solution" the the slow late-game problem has been to suddenly j
Swicard Most statisyfing misspelling of my pater-name that I've seen in ages--I'd like to grow up to be the card to play in a tough round
That's whacked. Alright, now I want to know where you (Jeff Graw) found found your icon . It looks like it came from some game, as mine indirectly did. I'm sure I'm far less game-literate than Jeff, but I am *very* MOOx literate and given my play s
I would like a Zone of Controll. Attention fellow members with grammar-nazi tendencies: this is a really good point: we need to limit our edit-others tendencies to areas where hasty or sloppy typing makes it very hard or impossible to guess a poster's intent. As a professional editor in a long-standing recreational fight with someone ov
referring to me as an idealist ShuShu, I was talking about myself. Despite having a penis of my own, I really do try to avoid speaking for others <TD c
couldn't resist. Oi, why don't you go on poking sticks in the eyes of the poor idealists! Seriously, the reason I'm a "lapsed" anarchist is that I was convinced our species is not ready universally value cooperation over competition. Put more simply, until something I don't understand changes, we'll always have groups who organize to us
I wouldn't call it a design flaw. Now I really think you need an Erasmus pic, but I guess that's because I think he won the old argument with Luther, and I'm only well-read enough to know the argument was there and what side I *think* I'm on. Reformist dogmatism vs. modernist humanism aside, I retract the "design flaw" remark, not least
precisely what he's lying about may never be entirely clear. This is "the root" of the matter, but In the end it really *does* matter to some of us. ShuShu is invoking part of what I tried to avoid out of
I think he is lying to you Mumblefratz This is a given--but AlexAtticus reminds me that I'd almost posted "in his defense" when I spotted some game-based chat in an old thread after having seen people ask Pinko why he was focused on "troublemaking." I use the shudder quotes there b/c I honestly dislike some of the knee-jerk responses I s
I wouldn't let a hundred characters like this change my outlook on life. If being fooled by someone like this is the price I pay for wanting to help the underdog, than so be it. Helping just one honest person in need of help makes it worthwhile. I'm really heartened to see Mumble "reduced" to actual namecalling and yet still inclined to say thing
